Despite some challenges, cruise was awesome
The itinerary for this cruise was amazing. We really enjoyed all of the ports as well as the sea days. One of my favorite things about this cruise was the captain who gave us daily reports of the waterways, the ports, the weather and some of the history of the area we were in.
The downside to this cruise was that there were several changes in the itinerary and NCL was not good about keeping us informed of the changes. Despite this we would definately do this cruise again. It was well worth the money.
October 2016 - 14 Night Transatlantic Westbound (Barcelona To Tampa) Cruise on Norwegian Jade
Super, relaxing cruise
Being on our first TransAtlantic cruise was exciting. We spent the first few days in ports in Spain and then Portugal, followed by a long series of sea days. The sea days actually went longer than planned due to the storm in Bermuda. The captain wisely decided to go around the storm and stay in calmer waters.
for the most part we loved the cruise. What we didn't like we're some of the changes to NCL's programs and benefits. If you are a latitude person you know that gold and platinum have, in the past, had preference embarkation. This perk has been removed by NCL. Also, the dining package has now been changed to 3 dinners for up to 9 nights at sea and 4 dinners for anything beyond that. Also you are only allowed certain items in the ala carte restaurants.
We would definately recommend this cruise to everyone. It's just nice to know the NCL "cuts" in advance. Wonder what will go away next.
May 2016 - 7 Night Norwegian Fjords (Copenhagen Roundtrip) Cruise on Norwegian Star
March 2016 - 14 Night South America Eastbound (Santiago To Buenos Aires) Cruise on Norwegian Sun
South America, More than we expected
This was an amazing itinerary for a cruise. South America is beautiful and, going in what is Fall there was perfect. We had nice weather and fewer crowds. We were the only ship in the ports.
The food on board the ship did not disappoint us and except for NCLs new policy of ala carte pricing in the specialty restaurants we were happy with the meal choices. We also had the drink package which helped with on board expenses.
The down part of the cruise was that many of the crew members were new and so the knowledge they had was not always up to par. We often had to ask for a supervisor for answers to our questions. Also, the outside entertainment was not
up to NCL standards. The NCL production team was one of the best but because all other performances had to be translated into 2 languages the choices were limited.
October 2015 - 14 Night Canada/New England & Bermuda (Quebec To Boston) Cruise on Norwegian Dawn
August 2015 - 14 Night Alaska Glacier Bay (Vancouver Roundtrip) Cruise on Norwegian Sun
Excellent scenery; amazing crew
This was a great cruise. Being on the Sun which is one of the smaller ships in the fleet we were especially happy with the service.
The itinerary was great. Being able to see both Hubbard Bay and Glacier Bay was exciting. The were both breathtaking.
July 2015 - 9 Night Baltic Capitals (Copenhagen Roundtrip) Cruise on Norwegian Star
April 2015 - 19 Night Panama Canal & Pacific Coastal (Houston To Seattle) Cruise on Norwegian Jewel
Great Itinerary
The itinerary on this cruise was awesome. The Panama Canal should be on everyone's must do list. Also all of the ports we visited were full of adventures. I would not recommend this cruise for small children since the average age of the passengers was 66. The one issue that we had was with some of the service. While all of our problems were taken care of it was unfortunate that we had to complain since service is one of the main reasons we cruise. The food was excellent. We ate at the buffet for breakfast and lunch and the specialty restaurants for dinner. We enjoyed each of the different options.

Cruise tips
Abidjan, (Ivory Coast) Cote D'Ivoire
Take a ship tour. Without one we wouldn’t have been allowed off the ship due to port security rules. We were happy to have a police escort for our tour.
Very old and run down. Lots of police around the city so felt very safe. Recommend ship tour.
Again, take a ship tour. Immigration was late 2 hours to clear the ship and traffic was the worst we had seen anywhere in the world. In spite of that, the tour was interesting and we really enjoyed ourself.
Norwegian Dawn
Enjoy your cruise and keep a positive attitude. Don’t get involved in other people’s drama. most important, remember this is Africa with lots of unexplored ports.
Nice port, very relaxing.
Walked around town but too hot to really enjoy. Recommend a beach day.
Enjoyed a nice walk in town and visited the marketplace.
Visited Antigua and had a wonderful lunch. Also got to see the volcano smoking at the top.
Norwegian Joy
Get to the shows early. Venues are very small.
Short stopover late at night.
Fun time visiting CREEK STREET. Nice walk with lots of history.
This was just as we remembered. We walked the historical part of the city and talked to the natives. Really nice time. We did take the tram to the top of the mountain but due to the fog it was hard to see.
Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska
Ok, but not my favorite. We did take an excursion on the tram to the top of the mountain where we walked the guided path and learned of the area.
CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER
Due to the weather and the icebergs we didn’t actually get to the glacier. We did get to see it from a distance thanks to the captain.
Took a great trip to the Yukon. The guide was one of the best ever.
No excursion but walked the town and met lots of really nice people.
Norwegian Spirit
Look for the good 😊 and enjoy the trip.
Did not do an excursion, it was merely a stop to get on the ship.
Really enjoyed this port. Sorry to be leaving Iceland.
Nice port with great people.
Weather
Nice and friendly. Had a lovely coffee with one of the restaurant owners by the port. Everyone was so friendly and helpful.
Interesting port. Not much to do but everyone was friendly. Tender port so a bit of a wait to get to the town but wouldn’t have missed it.
No excursion but spent 3 days prior to the cruise visiting the sights.
Norwegian Star
Wear a smile… you’ll always get one in return.
Nice port, easy to get around and cute little shops.
Great place to walk around and enjoy the port.
Loved New Orleans. The food was amazing and Marti Gras was lots of fun.i
Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras
Nice for a walk about.
Norwegian Gem
Get to all events early to ensure good seats.
Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras
We did not do an excursion in Roatan but instead stayed in the port area and on the ship. The people were very friendly and we remembered why we came back.
No excursion, just a walk about the port area. We spent most of our time on the ship because it was very hot and humid.
We had never been on a private island before so this was a first. We enjoyed it a lot as there was so much to do.
We were concerned about all the COVID outbreaks but it turned out fine. Nice to take a tour so we could see some of the areas of the city in the security of our NCL excursion.
Another hot and humid day but a very nice port. No excursion but a lovely visit.
Tortola, British Virgin Islands
Not really impressed with this island, this was partially due to the damage that still exists from the hurricanes of 2017. Most repairs have not been done leaving it looking dismal and impoverished.
One of my favorite ports. We took a bicycle tour of the city which was incredibly informative.
We stayed an extra day here and were glad we did. Lots of food sampling and wandering in the Old Town.
We did a private shore excursion to Granada and Alhambra. Always a winner when you visit a UNESCO site.
Arrecife, Lanzarote, Canary Islands
NCL tour to Fire Mountain. Very nice tour which included a camel ride which I wouldn’t have missed for anything. Made the tour really fun!
Palma De Mallorca, Balearic Islands
Loved the port. We did a HOHO bus which was very good.
Great port. We stayed there 2 nights before the cruise.
A day of snorkeling in some of the cleanest water ever. We took an NCL tour on a catamaran out to some beautiful snorkeling grounds followed by a ride to Honeymoon Beach where we enjoyed being in the warm water.
Santa Cruz De Tenerife, Canary Islands
Walking tour of the island. Enjoyed the sites of this UNESCO city.
Came home with Madeira wine. Loved the tour which was a private excursion in a 4 wheel drive Jeep. The driver was really excited about his job and shared his feelings with us the whole trip.
Always fun to visit San Francisco. We did not do a tour but just walked around the pier.
Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia
Had a wonderful tour of the city with a very knowledgeable guide.
San Pedro (Los Angeles), California
We did not do an excursion but just headed to the airport. Our problem here was not the ships fault but rather that our shuttle didn’t pick us up. We were able to find a shuttle at the pier so all turned out fine.
In Manta we took a private tour exploring the city as well as the rain forest. We also learned the history of the Panama Hat and had an opportunity to see how they are made.
This was one of our favorite ports. Although we had been there before, this time we did an NCL tour to the rain forest. It was 8 hours but wonderful scenery and an amazing hike I the rain forest (the only place it rained the entire trip).
Visited this port on our own before flying home. Really enjoyed the Everglades National Park.
No excursion, just lots of pictures of the crossing. We had a person on board who could point out places of interest and give us a history of the canal. Would have been nice to visit the city of Panama as well.
We really enjoyed this port. We did a private tour and saw many places in this cities of Coquimbo and Serena.
No excursion as we spent an extra 3 days there before the cruise.
Very interesting. We took the NCL tour to Huaco Dragon and Chan Chan sites. We were able to explore the ruins with the help of our very informative guide.
We had been to this port before and it is very nice, but not my favorite of the trip. We took a private tour around the city which was very nice.
Great trip! We took took the NCL Highlights for this tour and our favorite part was the Handicraft Village where we were able to have a local beer while we wandered around the area.
We enjoyed this city (we took a private tour) but it was a traffic nightmare. It took over an hour to get from the dock to the downtown, historic area. I h

Enjoy the cruise. If there is a problem, report it and let them get it fixed. Be patient and have fun!
Laem Chabang (Bangkok), Thailand
This port is very much an industrial port. That said, we had a tour booked and so we drove to Bangkok which is a 2 hour drive. We saw many of the Buddhist temples and also enjoyed a delicious Thai lunch. This was an interesting city. Very crowded, quite dirty, and a lot of poverty but we were still drawn to how friendly the people were. We also visited Pattaya which is near the port. Nice city and much less crowded and dirty. Nice place to go to the beach.
This is the port to DaNang. We started out of the city on the top of one of the mountains but were unable to see much due to the fog. We continued on to Marble mountains and then to see some of the city. Our guide from Tours by Locals was very informative and we really enjoyed the day
Maybe we were just tired of the crowds but we weren't really very excited with Hong Kong. We took the Hop On/ Hop Off bus around town but the stops were hard to locate. Also, Hong Kong would only accept money from their own country so if you are going there be sure to exchange money.
This is a very clean city. We did not do an excursion because we had been there before and just wanted to unwind from the flight.
Phu My (Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam
We decided to take a ship's tour in this port since there are about 11 million people in the city which was formerly called Saigon. This is a very tiny city considering all the people. This was one of our "must see" cities on this cruise and we really were glad we stopped at this port.
We really enjoyed Ko Samui. Thailand is a very nice city and they are trying hard to clean it up since it was a bit dirty. We had wanted to do a ship excursion but they were sold out so we got off the ship and there were plenty of people offering tours for bargain prices. We had a wonderful day and were very glad we came.
Ha Long Bay City (Hanoi), Vietnam
Great day for a Junk Boat cruise. There were 3 cruise ships in town on this day so we took a taxi to the junk boat terminal and joined the the multitude of people who were going on tours. We met up with our tour group and before going on the water we enjoyed a traditional Vietnamese lunch. Delicious!. Off to the junk boats. We had read that you need lots of time to be able to explore the waterways so this was perfect. We really enjoyed the tour and they dropped us off at the cruise ship tender area.
This was a new port for cruise ships and it was awesome. The people went out of their way to make us feel welcome.
This port was cancelled from our itinerary.
Walked the town, tried some beer and promised ourselves we would come back.
Sourdough bread and clam chowder on the wharf.
We did the On/Off bus tour-. Lots of information and a great guide.
Walked the pier, shopped and had lunch.
Loved the crocodiles!
Great feeling of security. It was nice to be one of the first cruise ships to come back.
We did the On/Off bus tour. Enjoyed it a lot
Must see. AWESOME
