Callao is your port of entry to the glittering, elegant city of Lima, the darling of Peru. Founded by Pizarro and the Conquistadors, the capital city today offers priceless collections ranging from the Museum of Gold to the Museum of Anthropology and Archeology. Pizarro's remains can be found in the Cathedral, built in 1746. I found this to be a disappointing port. A 30+ minute shuttle ride drops you off at a modern mall. Stores and look could have been in the US. We didn't do a shore excursion because the price seemed high for what you got. I like ports where you can explore on your own, this one was too difficult.

Took NCL’s trip to Machu Pichu. Highlight of whole cruise. It was amazing If you can you must go. Ncl took care of every detail Stayed in Cosco. Altitude was hard on us but next day we were used to it.
Whistle top tour of the center which gives you a flavour. Tour missed Huaca Pullcana the pyramid in the center of Lima
