This was an exciting cruise because of the itinerary. We had never been to these places before and really enjoyed seeing new things. We wouldn't have missed it and were so glad we went.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation went smoothly. We had no trouble and because of our latitude status we were able to board the ship right away.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We dined at almost all of the restaurants on this cruise. The food was excellent and there were lots of choices for each meal.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
The activities were good but could have been more age appropriate. Most of the guests were retired and many of the games were a bit immature and silly.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The production group was wonderful. I would have liked to have them do a cabaret night also. As for the outside performers many of them were very good but some of them were quite poor.
Children's Programs
Did not use
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
We had the best room steward for this cruise that we have ever had on any ship. He even cleaned the balcony windows for us. The rest of the crew were also very friendly and helpful. We really had no complaints for any of them.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
This is an older ship and ready to go into dry-dock. The layout is one of our favorites and all areas were kept very clean.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Our room was spotless, thanks to our room steward. The size of the room was actually sufficient for the 2 of us.
Ship tip
Enjoy the cruise. If there is a problem, report it and let them get it fixed. Be patient and have fun!
We really enjoyed Ko Samui. Thailand is a very nice city and they are trying hard to clean it up since it was a bit dirty. We had wanted to do a ship excursion but they were sold out so we got off the ship and there were plenty of people offering tours for bargain prices. We had a wonderful day and were very glad we came.
This port is very much an industrial port. That said, we had a tour booked and so we drove to Bangkok which is a 2 hour drive. We saw many of the Buddhist temples and also enjoyed a delicious Thai lunch. This was an interesting city. Very crowded, quite dirty, and a lot of poverty but we were still drawn to how friendly the people were.
We also visited Pattaya which is near the port. Nice city and much less crowded and dirty. Nice place to go to the beach.
We decided to take a ship's tour in this port since there are about 11 million people in the city which was formerly called Saigon. This is a very tiny city considering all the people. This was one of our "must see" cities on this cruise and we really were glad we stopped at this port.
This is the port to DaNang. We started out of the city on the top of one of the mountains but were unable to see much due to the fog. We continued on to Marble mountains and then to see some of the city.
Our guide from Tours by Locals was very informative and we really enjoyed the day
Great day for a Junk Boat cruise. There were 3 cruise ships in town on this day so we took a taxi to the junk boat terminal and joined the the multitude of people who were going on tours. We met up with our tour group and before going on the water we enjoyed a traditional Vietnamese lunch. Delicious!. Off to the junk boats. We had read that you need lots of time to be able to explore the waterways so this was perfect. We really enjoyed the tour and they dropped us off at the cruise ship tender area.
Maybe we were just tired of the crowds but we weren't really very excited with Hong Kong. We took the Hop On/ Hop Off bus around town but the stops were hard to locate. Also, Hong Kong would only accept money from their own country so if you are going there be sure to exchange money.
