About Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Hollywood discovered this little fishing village back in the 1960's, and since then luxury resorts and bougainvillea-covered villas have flourished in the delightful seaside climate. Yet hints of past tranquility remain: cobbled courtyards where the locals hold their markets, and superb sport-fishing just offshore.

What people said about this port:

"Had a city tour also that was great." in 22 reviews.

"zip line excursion was highlight of the trip Did the canopy adventure." in 22 reviews.

This was the highlight of the trip. We hired a taxi driver who charged us $40 to give us a tour of downtown. We really didnt know where to go or, what to do. I asked the driver "if you had a lazy day off what would you do? He took us to a small a town (I can't remember the name). In town we had a local fisherman give us a tour of the bay. Evidently Steven Spielberg has his home here, if this helps. We ended up on a small beach call Las Animas. You can arrove here by boat. OMG the food was amazing!!!!!! We ordered a dz oysters. They literally went to a boat, grabbed the days catch and served us.......I could have had another 3 dzs... amazing!!!

If you go to PV then go to OLD VALLARTA. Grab a Taxi as you exit the ship. Have them take you to the beginning of the " Malecon " ( Boardwalk ). Then just walk the Malecon and all the shops and food places there and within a couple of blocks from there. You will also run into where the Church is and just walk in ( but just remember its a real church so please respect that ). If you walk the entire Malecon go to a restaurant at the end called " Si Senor" ... you can sit by the beach ( 20 feet away ) right next to the Mueye De Los Muertos ( Pier at Los Muertos ) . While you sit there and watch the sea and all the people enjoying the beach and the vendors who will bring the shopping to you as you eat Ceviche and drink Cold beverages you will think that you never want to leave .. and for those of you who like massages .. you will see the ladies walking the beach and will give you a great massage while you sit and sip your cold Margarita ... and the prices here are amazing ... if y...

I didn't get to explore downtown Puerto itself. I did the Las Caletas excursion and it was worth every penny. The boat ride out to the beach is a good 45 minutes but as soon as you get onboard they offered beverages both alcoholic and non. The entertainment staff on the boat were amazing and they made 45 minutes feel like 5. The beach itself has kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkeling, and zip lining. Lunch and drinks are also included. Do this excursion, it was a blast.

Normally i would just say basic things about Puerto Vallarta as we have been there many times on cruise ships... but this time we went to Las Caletas Private Beach Getaway OH MY GOSH this was great... They had an open bar on the boat taxi over and never stopped until we were docked back at next to the ship. This place was great and the food was great as well. There are some items that cost extra, but i did not think they were over priced on the extra things. they had many things to do that did not cost extra. We also got to hold a monkey and a parott.

This was an awesome port to visit. We did the Resort Stay. It was not long enough. We ate at the buffet they had and it was so delicious. The wait staff was great at the buffet and at the pool and beach area. The pools were amazing and enjoyed the ocean and sand as well. This was a fabulous excursion and well worth the money.

Loved Puerto Vallarta! Took a taxi to the Malicon (Boardwalk). One side of the Malicon is lined with shops and restaurants and the other along the Pacific. Great walking with beautiful scenery!

I was surprised to see nothing was there. Usually you get off at a cruise boat shopping area. It was kind of nice not being bombarded by people selling stuff. However, you had to make plans on were to go instead of sticking near the cruise port. We also did an excursion. It was a lot of fun! I highly recommend it. Snorkeling and then to Yelapa. Yelapa is an older more authentic Mexican village with a nice waterfall. The guides were a lot of fun!

We did not do an excursion. We took a cab for the day from inside the compound so felt comfortable with the driver as we were checked out and back into the loading dock through guards. We had a great 4 hours of touring all of the highlights of a beautiful city and tropical forests. The stop at Mr. Toquilla with a free margarita was fun. all for $60+tip. Would do it again with Manuel.
