smaller port that Juneau. They also have a library with free WiFi. Short walk to the downtown area from dock, you can stop and see the salmon spawning on your way in and out. Skagway Brewing Co is a nice local bar for food and drinks. Shop North to Alaska for items sold by locals and made in Alaska. For those missing your Starbucks, they have one inside Miners Gems (or one of the jewelry stores on 2nd).

This was our favorite! We bought nearly all our souvenirs in Skagway, at a place that offered everything we wanted, and really steep discounted prices. We got all our t shirts for family members for just $4.99 each. I can't remember the name of the store, but it was great and very organized with lots to choose from.

The White Pass train ride was great. Some people misunderstood the instructions I think and thought you were not supposed to go on the outside platforms so I had them to myself the whole time and got some amazing pictures. I went inside a couple of times to give way to other photographers, but no one went out so I just hung out waiting for someone else to come out.
