Our stop in Juneau was wonderful. As soon as we got off of the boat we went to Tracy's Crab Shack to try the king crab that we've heard so much about. The crab legs were huge and the crab cakes and bisque was delicious! My husband had to have two legs. Needless to say, we wasted $ on that one. He couldn't make it through one with the crab cakes and bisque. I recommend buying only one - no matter how much your significant other begs for more. If they are still hungry, you can always get another one later. We headed back to the ship to meet for our excursion. We purchased the Whale Watching / Orca Point Lodge / Mendenhal Glacier excursion. We took a bus to see the Glacier. The bus driver was great! He shared there was a hiking path "Nugget Trail" that led to a beautiful waterfall near the Glacier. It was a one-mile hike there and back. We had 1 hour there so we were able to make it there and back and have 10 minutes at the waterfall for pictures and 10 minutes at the gift shop. I'm so gl...

Enjoy walking around Juneau after your excursion. . .lots of shops, a great piano bar saloon for cold Alaskan beer and do NOT miss Tracy's for the most amazing Alaskan king crab.

Loved the Mendenhall Glacier and also went to the Gold Creek Salmon Bake. Great place to eat and check out the waterfall and the fire pits for the marsh mellows to roast! Love the town of Juneau!

Juneau is a very neat town. You have to see the mendenhall Glacier. It's spectacular. If you don't mind walking it's about a mile walk on a good trail to marble falls. If you don't want to walk that far it's just a short distance on a good trail to a scenic point where you can see the falls, Glacier, lake and the surrounding mountains. The city is nice and easy to move around in. Try the Twisted Fish for lunch. Excellent clam chowder.

Because we purchased an expensive camera for this cruise, we were very excited for our Juneau excursion. We booked Gastineau's Photo Safari: it includes a whale watching trip and a nature hike to the Mendenhall. Here's the twist, though: our guide was an expert in both whales and photography. Gastineau puts a cap of 14 people per group on this excursion so you get tons of personal help with whatever camera you bring (and Kristin was even very helpful with folks who only had a cell phone camera). Kristin's lessons are entirely responsible for the excellent photos we were able to take from the White Pass Rail and from the cruise ship in Glacier Bay. We were THRILLED with this tour.

Pilots choice glacier tour was AMAZING! One of the best excursions I've been on. We landed on 2 separate glaciers and got to walk around and take pictures.
