This was a perfect cruise to discover how cruises would look after COVID. We couldn’t have been happier. While there were many changes there was also many things the same. We are looking forward to many more cruises with NCL.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation ran very smoothly. Having a time to arrive for our COVID test made everything go extremely well.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The food was good but in the main dining rooms the choices were not appealing. We ended up at most of the other restaurants instead. The biggest disappointment was Le Bistro. We have always enjoyed this restaurant but the menu has changed and our favorite dishes were no longer as old or were missing entirely.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
While many of these seemed like fun we didn’t do many of them. We did however do some of the game shows, presentations, and trivia. We were disappointed they were still in the atrium. There are many venues that are better suited and less noisy than the atrium.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The major shows were great. As for the shows I. The bars and other venues they were too loud. Although they were good, you couldn’t talk over them. One of our favorite shows was a flautist who preformed in the Bliss. Wish we could have seen him more often.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
All of the staff were friendly and professional. They all seemed happy to be back at work and we couldn’t have asked for a better crew.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
We have always loved the smaller ships and have been on the Gem several times. The maintenance and cleanliness during the COVID comeback was wonderful.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We loved our cabin. There was lots of rooms and storage in the rooms itself and the balcony was a perfect size for two. Our room steward was one of the best.
We were concerned about all the COVID outbreaks but it turned out fine. Nice to take a tour so we could see some of the areas of the city in the security of our NCL excursion.
We did not do an excursion in Roatan but instead stayed in the port area and on the ship. The people were very friendly and we remembered why we came back.
