Review summary

This was a nice cruise with lots of wonderful ports. The problem was that the management never kept us informed of what was happening while boarding and debarkation which left a bad memory. Also, because the ship was at capacity, it was very crowded and service was slow.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
2 1/2 hour wait in line with no water, no shade and no explanation

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The specialty restaurants were very good. The Manhattan restaurant had good service but the new menu items were not up to NCL standards. Taste was a disaster happening. Service was VERY poor and the food was often cold.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We didn’t use most of the activities. We would have liked to use the hot tubs but they were only warm, none of them were hot.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The production numbers were great except that they showed Pricilla, Queen of the Desert seven times. Most of the rest of the shows started after 10:00 pm which was too late for many of us.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
our room steward was very good as were most of the ships staff.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
The ship itself was clean. Since there was a gastrointestinal bug on the previous cruise it was well disinfected and very clean. The ships layout was terrible. The 2 staircases were at opposite ends of the ship with nothing in the middle. Also, most of the games and entertainment were in the Atrium which made it extremely noisy and uninviting.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was fine except it is in need of refurbishing. The carpet was old and the shower had been repaired along with the countertopš

Ports of call

Barcelona, Spain

5 out of 5
Great port. We stayed there 2 nights before the cruise.

Palma De Mallorca, Balearic Islands

5 out of 5
Loved the port. We did a HOHO bus which was very good.

Malaga, Spain

5 out of 5
We did a private shore excursion to Granada and Alhambra. Always a winner when you visit a UNESCO site.

Cadiz (Seville), Spain

5 out of 5
One of my favorite ports. We took a bicycle tour of the city which was incredibly informative.

Funchal, Madeira

5 out of 5
Came home with Madeira wine. Loved the tour which was a private excursion in a 4 wheel drive Jeep. The driver was really excited about his job and shared his feelings with us the whole trip.

Arrecife, Lanzarote, Canary Islands

5 out of 5
NCL tour to Fire Mountain. Very nice tour which included a camel ride which I wouldn’t have missed for anything. Made the tour really fun!

Santa Cruz De Tenerife, Canary Islands

5 out of 5
Walking tour of the island. Enjoyed the sites of this UNESCO city.

Tortola, British Virgin Islands

3 out of 5
Not really impressed with this island, this was partially due to the damage that still exists from the hurricanes of 2017. Most repairs have not been done leaving it looking dismal and impoverished.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
A day of snorkeling in some of the cleanest water ever. We took an NCL tour on a catamaran out to some beautiful snorkeling grounds followed by a ride to Honeymoon Beach where we enjoyed being in the warm water.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
We stayed an extra day here and were glad we did. Lots of food sampling and wandering in the Old Town.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
We were held up for about 2 hours while there were police on board. We were never told what happened so there are still lots of stories.
