We started cruising in 2005 and love it! It is so relaxing to stay in one room and see lots of different ports. We have never had a bad cruise. I highly recommend it!

Celebrity Equinox

September 2018 - 11 Night Southern Caribbean (Miami Roundtrip) Cruise on Celebrity Equinox

Great Ship, Outstanding Captain and Crew!!

This was a very relaxing cruise. The crowd was mainly retirees as we can take two weeks off when school is in session. We had a lot of Canadians and UK Brits on the cruise in addition to US citizens, and Celebrity catered to the demographic. UPTOWN was "our music" soul and R&B (read Motown!) and Sean O'Shay was golden oldies. As Sean said, he is always asked by young folks why he doesn't do THEIR music and he answers "Because YOU didn't pay for the cruise!" Not totally accurate, but we got the point! Also, Kenneth Stein did a four part series on the US and Russian Space Race, which was the theme of our childhood. Excellent!!!

Carnival Magic

February 2017 - 7 Night Western Caribbean (Port Canaveral Roundtrip) Cruise on Carnival Magic

Magical Cruise!

We are retired and have cruised Carnival many times - this was one of the best ever!  The crew was great from stewards (Mochammad and his assistant!)  to waiters and chefs to bartenders to Captain.  The heart of the cruise, though, though, was the Cruise Director "Dr E!"  He loves his passengers, especially the kids, and makes everyone smile as soon as he is around.  He is the best I have ever seen on any cruise line.  We had over 1000 kids on the cruise and never had an issue.  They were kept so busy and entertained we kept hearing them complain to parents they wanted to be in Camp Carnival or the teen clubs with their friends.  KUDOS to Carnival for the kids crew!!  The Captain had to decide if we could dock in Costa Maya due to high wind and choppy seas.  We missed the port, all excursions were credited immediately, and the fabulous crew made sure we had another Fun Day At Sea!  We heard no complaints around the ship about the missed port, unlike some other cruises where a port had to be skipped.  The food in the MDR was excellent, as was the BBQ and Guy's Burgers.  Again, best ever on a cruise!  If you want a great cruise with loads of fun, take a cruise on the Magic - it really is Magical.

Pretty but too big

We have cruised Carnival a lot over the years. I was disappointed with the cabin size and layout of the ship. It is very different from the other ships we have sailed and was missing the fun vibe of previous cruises.

Mardi Gras - A Kid's Paradise

Great ship for kids and teens. Lots for them to do on sea days. The itinerary is good, and more good excursions are now available, if somewhat pricey. Be aware that the layout is unlike any other ship, and it is huge. Dining and entertainment venues are scattered throughout the 1100 foot long ship. That is almost 4 football fields long! The long walks can be hard if you have mobility issues and no assistance from a wheelchair or scooter. The cabins are smaller than other ships and can feel really crowded when kids are also in the cabin. The bathrooms are tiny. Food is good and a huge variety. Take the kids and have fun!

Great Relaxing Cruise

We love the Conquest class ships and highly recommend them. All are different and the Artist theme on Conquest is interesting. Great crew, good food, and interesting ports.

Cruise tips

Juneau, Alaska

This is the capitol and we had a walking tour planned to the museums. Unfortunately we forgot we would be there on a Sunday and all but one was closed. Really nice place to visit.

Victoria, British Columbia

We were in port from 8pm to 11. We did the walking (rushing) tour as it was getting dark. The guide stayed out front of the group and had a running commentary, but only a couple of people could hear it unless he stopped for a minute. Not a good idea that late as the sidewalks were dark halfway through the tour. Should not be offered except earlier in the day.

Sitka, Alaska

We were on the 8 day itinerary and got to Sitka! We took the city tour and had a great guide who loves Alaska. So much to see in the short time. We need to get back. Lovely city and lovely people.

Skagway, Alaska

White Pass Railway tour with the bus up to the Yukon and train back down. Put this on your list for an amazing day!!

Seattle, Washington

Just flew in late, overnight at a hotel, then on board. We LOVED the valet service where we set out our luggage the night before debarkation, then picked it up when we got off our flight home!! Amazing service and it is free!!

Ketchikan, Alaska

Walked downtown on the Fourth of July. It was a short stay at the port so we didn't see all of the parade but such a warm, homey, small town feel to the celebration! A whole day is needed here!!

Carnival Luminosa

Carnival Luminosa

Take the train in Skagway!! We have done both short and long trips and it is always a new adventure!

Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras

Kids will love it! However, accept limitations of cabin and entertainmant space.

Grand Turk Island

Stayed by the pools and shopped. The kids liked the beach, and it was great to see hurricane damage being rebuilt.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Visited Castillo de San Cristobal with grandkids. They loved the climb through the fort and the exhibits were very interesting. We also visited some restaurants and walked the historic streets.

Port Canaveral, Florida

Nice motels for an overnight stay before boarding. No tourist activities, but good access to the port.

Nassau, Bahamas

Wandered a bit to the outdoor market. Been to Nassau many times. Need to develop some good excursions.

Grand Turk Island

Love Gran Turk but the beach has badly eroded since our cruise in. 2019. Very hard to get in and out of the water for kids especially.

Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras

Plan on walking miles to any thing you want to access, and get to the center area an hour or two to get a seat to see the shows.

Cozumel, Mexico

We went to the Tabasco's Chef Maestro, Cooking and Tasting session. It was fabulous!! Chef Luis is a hoot and is truly a master chef. We made an appetizer, main course, and dessert, all in Mexican style. Simple ingredients but delicious!!! This was the best excursion ever! We may do it again on our next Cozumel stop!

George Town, Grand Cayman

Amphibious Bus Land and Sea Adventure was a lot of fun. After a street tour, we drove into the sea and went over some shipwrecks (underwater cameras with images on monitors) and out to feed fish. The water was so calm and clear that we could actually lean out of the bus and see the bottom. WOW!! We had a short stop near the end at a resort where we could get a drink or walk on the beach. Best Pina Colada ever, made in a soft-serve ice cream machine! Fun tour!

Carnival Conquest

Carnival Conquest

Eat breakfast in the MDR! Great service and atmosphere!

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Always fun to walk around the old town. Lots to see. The shops and restaurants seem to be recovering and reopening. Fun place!

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

We visited the Pirates Treasure A Shipwreck Museum near Havensite. It is a fascinating collection of artifacts from the seas around the Virgin Islands, and even has an actual deep-sea artifact retrieval unit visitors can manipulate to pick up coins.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

Great port. We took the excursion Puerta Plata Walking Tour With Lunch. It was a really interesting tour of the old Colonial city. Lunch was an interesting local pork stew with rice. It is always nice to taste delicious foods from other places. Carlos - AKA Pappi - was a great guide. Glad we booked this one!

Carnival Conquest

Carnival Conquest

Use the MDR for breakfast as often as possible. Great food and atmosphere!

Belize City, Belize

We took the tour to Lamanai Mayan Ruins. Our guides were Bernie and Tina for the entire time, and they were joined by Mauricio at the archeological site. All were incredibly knowledgeable about Belizean history including the Maya civilization. The bus ride to the park was filled with information and fun, then we had a really great speedboat ride to the site. Our only complaint is that the 1.5 hours at the site was not nearly enough to see everything and hear the guides. Go anyway, as the tour is amazing.

Miami, Florida

Just flew in and out. The airport and taxis were really efficient!

Cozumel, Mexico

We did not do an excursion. We just shopped in the port area as we were tired from the past three days of activity.

George Town, Grand Cayman

Excellent snorkel tour with Cayman Dive. We stopped over the Kittiwake for a great view of the sunken wreck, then went to a reef near shore where there were lots of fish, stingrays and a few turtles. This was a great time in the water!

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

We tried Tabyana Beach for the first time, but will be back! The reef sea life is incredible! Some of the best we have seen in the Caribbean. Get a kayak guide to tow you out to the best places on the reef. We tipped $10 and it was worth even more! Amazing snorkeling!!

Carnival Glory

Carnival Glory

Eat in the MDR! The food is good and the service is excellent!

Bridgetown, Barbados

Tiami catamaran snorkeling excursions are the BEST!!! Great crews and very clean sailing "Cats!" This was our third with them and they never fail to please!!

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

We took a taxi to Megan's Bay - best beach in the Caribbean IMHO!! We love the warm water and gentle waves to float in.

Celebrity Equinox

Celebrity Equinox

Yow will have the best Captain ever!!! And don't forget to take plenty of sunscreen!

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Beach day on St Maarten can't be beat!! Off the ship, a short boat shuttle to the beach and you are there! For hearty types, you can even walk to the beach - white sand and gentle waves!!!

Bridgetown, Barbados

Island tour was fun as we saw different parts of the island that we had not visited before.

Roseau, Dominica

We visited the old sugar plantation which is now an archaeological dig. The archaeologist was phenomenal with a wealth of information about the history of the island. Be sure to take this one!!

Basseterre, St. Kitts

The "Fast Cat"snorkeling tour was great except for the lunch stop. Hot sand without shoes burned our feet and the lunch was just barely OK. Snorkeling was excellent!

Castries, St. Lucia

Loved the island, but the snorkel tour "between the Pitons" was not good. We had to enter the water on a VERY rocky shore with waves that knocked many of us down onto the rocks and coral. Lots of bad scrapes and bruises. We should have entered the water off the boat. Catamaran ride was great, though. Next time we will get a snorkel tour to a different area.

Carnival Liberty

Carnival Liberty

Don't bother getting to the MDR early. The crowd clears within two minutes of the door opening and you won't have to stand around.

Carnival Magic

Carnival Magic

Remember that Mother nature does things her way. Relax and enjoy what she sends you. We love the "motion of the ocean" so we book high and up front. This was a choppy cruise and some of our neighbors didn't like the movement. Book center and low if motion is an issue.
