We enjoyed the island. Not a lot to do off the port, excursions are expensive for this island. We took a taxi to the sandcastle resort. $6 round trip and $10 admission includes all amenity such as pool showers and beach chairs. Very quiet and everyone was really nice. Highly recommended this excursion for the price!

Sand Castle resort had great beach and for $25 you get 2 chairs, umbrella and 2 rum punch drinks. Totally worth it, has all the amenities you need. Great view of our cruise ship too.

One of a few ports where you can wander on your own. Just to the left outside the port area is a decent free public beach. The chair and umbrella rental will cost $30 for the day. The sand was good but there were many rocks and boulders at the shoreline which had a level of difficulty getting into the water. There were lots of seashells and seaglass right at the shoreline. Further into town, there were plenty of vendors selling the usual tourist junk and there were lots of restaurants and bars to stop and get some local provisions.

Our first visit to this island. We did not do a shore tour but decided to check out the town near the pier. We were greeted but the high school marching band. The band came down to the end of the pier and the back to the park in the town area. This port is not full of the “standard” commercial trappings found in the Caribbean. It was a lovely visit

This island is still suffering greatly from the devastating effects of the hurricanes last year. The town of Frederiksted is small and after a walk around we took a shared taxi (with other passengers from the cruise) to Christiensted. This was a little prettier and we were able to have a lovely lunch at a restaurant on the boardwalk, watching passers by, boats and fish in the water alongside. After lunch we browsed and shopped for souvenirs before getting the shared taxi back to the ship. I hope this place will recover soon from the damage sustained and hope our visit (the ship's passengers) helps with that.
