We enjoyed the island. Not a lot to do off the port, excursions are expensive for this island. We took a taxi to the sandcastle resort. $6 round trip and $10 admission includes all amenity such as pool showers and beach chairs. Very quiet and everyone was really nice. Highly recommended this excursion for the price!

One of a few ports where you can wander on your own. Just to the left outside the port area is a decent free public beach. The chair and umbrella rental will cost $30 for the day. The sand was good but there were many rocks and boulders at the shoreline which had a level of difficulty getting into the water. There were lots of seashells and seaglass right at the shoreline. Further into town, there were plenty of vendors selling the usual tourist junk and there were lots of restaurants and bars to stop and get some local provisions.

Our first visit to this island. We did not do a shore tour but decided to check out the town near the pier. We were greeted but the high school marching band. The band came down to the end of the pier and the back to the park in the town area. This port is not full of the “standard” commercial trappings found in the Caribbean. It was a lovely visit

This island is still suffering greatly from the devastating effects of the hurricanes last year. The town of Frederiksted is small and after a walk around we took a shared taxi (with other passengers from the cruise) to Christiensted. This was a little prettier and we were able to have a lovely lunch at a restaurant on the boardwalk, watching passers by, boats and fish in the water alongside. After lunch we browsed and shopped for souvenirs before getting the shared taxi back to the ship. I hope this place will recover soon from the damage sustained and hope our visit (the ship's passengers) helps with that.

LOVED, LOVED this island!!! We booked our own excursion with Gecko ATV (found via TripAdvisor). We rode ATV in the forest, then ended up at Rainbow Beach, where we traded 4 wheels for a jet ski! We had the best fish tacos and rum punch at Rhythms at Rainbow Beach.

Loved this island. Way less commercial than most others. We did not do an excursion but caught a taxi($3 per person each way) to Sandcastle on the Beach. Boutique type hotel right on the water. For a day pass was $10 per person. What a beautiful spot. They have the best staff and we spoke briefly with the owners. They have a little cafe there as well.. I would recommend this place for a visit or even a longer holiday. Hopefully we will make it back there again.

There’s wonderful snorkeling not far from the dock without taking an excursion. I saw many fish including a scorpionfish!! The water is warm & very calm.

We didn't do an excursion but instead visited the Cruzan distillery. The folks there could not have been more accommodating and friendly. Oh yeah, the rum was good too. (and how)
