Review summary

This ship was the right size for us. We are pretty self sufficient to keep ourselves entertained though. I don’t know that we would enjoy one of those really big ships. The food could have been a bit better but nothing awful to report. The ship was clean and the staff were great. I think we would cruise again but we would be open to trying a different company to compare. We would consider booking with RC again. One note though. Stay away from the spa unless you love over aggressive sales tactics. We will never use their spas again. The sales pitch never stopped the whole time. That is the opposite of relaxing to us.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The embarkation was fast and efficient. From the time we arrived at the port until we were on the ship was 15 minutes top.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The dining room was a bit hit and miss. We had some excellent meals and some mediocre meals. The service in there was very good though. The buffet was very good for a buffet. Lots of fresh fruit and vegetables and lots of options. Very good Indian dishes were available as well. Some of the other entree type offerings were quite bland though in our opinion. They could benefit from using some spices in many of the dishes. Many of the desserts were mediocre as well except the tiramisu was very good. The omelet station in the morning was good. The staff working in the buffet were all very polite and friendly. We did not try any of the specialty restaurants this time.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We enjoyed some of the shows and “game shows”. We played trivia a couple of times and our teenage son did enjoy some of the activities at the teen lounge like the scavenger hunt and video game tournaments.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The shows were very good for the size of the theatre. We saw Vibeology and the show put together by the performers. Both were very good. We enjoyed the Switched on Band more than once. They are excellent. The ship orchestra is also very good.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
Only used the teen programs which were good. The kids can pick and choose which activities interested them.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
ALL of the staff were exceptionally polite and friendly. Our room steward Wayan was great. He definitely made our stay pleasant.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was easy to navigate and the common areas were all clean and well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The room was as expected based on photos online. It had more room than I was expecting. I have had NYC hotel rooms that were much smaller. There was a lot of storage space and suitcases fit under the bed. The bed was very comfortable and the furniture was in good condition.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

We did not do an excursion but purchased tickets for the water taxi and toured around. We got off near the beach and walked around. We had dinner at Lona Cocina Tequileria. It was excellent.

Pretty island with lots and lots of shopping if that is your thing. We did a tour that went around the island and to Magen’s beach. The beach was very nice and clean.

Loved this island. Way less commercial than most others. We did not do an excursion but caught a taxi($3 per person each way) to Sandcastle on the Beach. Boutique type hotel right on the water. For a day pass was $10 per person. What a beautiful spot. They have the best staff and we spoke briefly with the owners. They have a little cafe there as well.. I would recommend this place for a visit or even a longer holiday. Hopefully we will make it back there again.

St. John's, Antigua

Beautiful island and very nice people. We did the stingray excursion and it was very good. The water is beautiful and they show you what to do. In town we ate black pineapple which was delicious. We also treated ourselves to doughnuts at this little shop. We really enjoyed this island and would go back.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

This was probably our least favourite port. The disparity between the haves(many foreign) and the have-nots is so striking. The differences between this island and Antigua were so obvious to us. This was a very pretty place though. Caribelle Batik at Romney Manor was a highlight for us.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

We did a tour here which was okay. We lucked out at Maho Beach with a plane going over us while we were there. We would probably do something different though if we had a do over. The cheese shop was very good😀

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
This was also super fast and organized. There were people at each step to answer questions. If you are in one of the later groups to leave the ship, make sure you have a book or magazine with you to pass the time. You need to be out of your room by 8am and you can grab breakfast which closes at 8:30 I think.
