Sorry - Midnight shift is getting in my head
Be nice folks. This is the fun thread off cruise topic just to chime in and say hi
Stop using that nasty 4 letter word that ends in "K" "Work" some of us are retired..... just woke up from a nap on the living room sofa to the sound of the rain rolling off the roof and pinging on the A/C unit.
As for the lazy employees, maybe that is why the old folks get the better reviews and pay increases.....we did what we had to do to get the job done and thought nothing of putting in extra time. In my old profession I always said the OT was not for the company, it was for my piece of mind to know when I left things were done and I would not start the next day or week behind and stressed out. Since I was salary there was no OT pay, just knowing I did a good job and was up to date on my case load.
Reminds me of a thread on a "professional" web site I visit:
The OP posted that he remembered the "good old days" when the employees would often work 4, 8 or even 12 hours over just to make sure that the job at hand was completed.
Someone posted back that, "You'll never see me do that. You have to be stupid to work past quitting time."
I replied, "That, sir, is the difference between the old organization and the new organization."
It seemed I killed that post, as no one dared reply
It appears that what once was "What can I do for the employer to earn my paycheck" has turned into "What is the least amount of work I have to do in order to get paid". Pride, as well as dedication, has all but disappeared from the workplace.
I'm dealing with the same attitude at work. Rush out at the end of the day, no working through lunch and very few weekends if any at all. For me, cruise paid off earlier and by May the excursions will be paid, the rental will be paid, and the OBC will be paid.
Agreed BD with the above. Anyway, out on the Harley on MY DAY OFF WORK.

Really.. No clue why it was tagged. I basically stated the fact I've worked since I was a paperboy... Gas Stations, dishwasher in my teens. USCG as a younger man, sales rep. Until what I do now that pays well. My beliefs were always Working is the normal. Never thought once entitled even growing up in a nice town with a great family that provided well.
If the one post didn't get tagged, I would have loved to see the tagged one!
Hey BD... I went to work at 4pm. Just got home at 3 Am. Lol... We work not like millenials. I answered your question on the Millennial thread.
