Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Quantum of the Seas

We went to Alaska last year out of San Francisco and we absolutely loved it so we went back. We find end of August beginning of September is a great time to go. We’ve had two great trips to Alaska went on Carnival last yr and on Royal this year-loved them both like I said, not crazy about the Quantum probably would not choose to go back on this ship 🛳️ But Alaska was amazing. We had wonderful time. Seattle was amazing. We have seen amazing things. Hundred percent recommend.

Canadian extended family visiting the "Great White North" by ship by mlim

A great once in a lifetime adventure with family. Though I wish we could have done the White Pass railway tour in Skagway. I guess we will have to book another cruise....

Room was NOISY! Service was Excellent! by charene62

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Quantum of the Seas

I would of rated this a 5 except our room was below the pizza kitchen in which we heard chairs and clanging all night long. Did not sleep but maybe a few hours mainly in the day. I was with three other couples including my 85 year old dad. When brought to their attention they offered us 25% off our next cruise. This was my dad's probably last cruise. Why would I want to pay more money and book another cruise with Royal Carribean. They then came to the room and offered $100.00 off. Still not happy considering I go on vacation to rest up. Lack of sleep prevented us from doing a few things on the ship and my father from going off the boat to see Alaska. He stayed on the ship to try to get some sleep. Cannot see booking on Royal Carribean again! Service in Dining was above and beyond! Our room was clean.

Outstanding, Memorable Alaska Glacier Cruise by danandy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Quantum of the Seas

The boat and crew exceeded our expectations. Very easy to maneuver around the ship. Amalita and Sukartika were so amazing that we at in the main dining for every dinner. We also frequented the main dining for most breakfast and lunch as the staff was so friendly and the food was so good. We highly recommend Royal Caribbean for an awesome cruise experience.

Great Trip! but booking troubles with RCI by JCKelley

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Quantum of the Seas

Great cruise, would highly recommend Alaska and Royal Caribbean to anyone!. Only complaint with our whole experience was when booking with RCI, we let ourselves be convinced to get 5 cabins for the 10 people in our group. We were told the rooms could all be placed next to each other. We ended up on opposite ends of the ship and on multiple levels. I feel like a lot of the time on ship was walking around to the different rooms trying to coordinate with everyone. We called multiple times and were blown off. When they said they would play back the recording to show that they did not say this, we agreed to this and asked them to do so, but they never did. It's one thing to not be able to accommodate something and tell us up front, it's another to promise i, and then when you can't make good on the promise, to ignore your customers. I'm not sure if they receive higher compensation for booking more rooms, but I think we could have gotten away with fewer rooms. If we could have at least had an apology, I would not be writing this. This is my one and only major issue with this cruise, and it has nothing to do with the cruise line, only RCI.

Got Duped by Royal Caribbean by alexpnst8

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Quantum of the Seas

Our original plan on this cruise was to stop at 3 different ports in Alaska. We went on a one way inside passage RC Alaskan cruise 3 years ago on Radiance of the Seas with land tour and had an amazing experience overall. This one was very subpar and disappointing. We were notified 2-3 weeks before our departure that we had to switch ports from Skagway to Icy Straits due to "unforeseen circumstances and sudden damage to the dock in Skagway". Well after doing my research and talking to to many locals at Icy Strait Point and in Hoonah, Royal Caribbean knew there was a problem with dock since the beginning of this year and had no intention of stopping in Skagway because dock wasn't being close to getting repaired at the time of our departure. So that is one lie we learned of. They refunded our excursions for Skagway which was disappointing. Secondly, when they switched the port to Icy Strait, they listed the excursion options only 10-15 days before our departure. We signed up for an Ocean Raft excursion for the group of 9 us since my wife and I did it 3 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it and wanted our friends to enjoy it. Unfortunately, our excursion got cancelled the day before we were supposed to do it while we were on the ship again due to "unforeseen circumstance and mechanical problems with the boat". However, the day we arrived to Icy Point Strait, we saw a group of people leave on the raft at the same time slot we were supposed to the excursion. I went to the Kayak Center to find out why we were cancelled and the excursion was still going on. They told me that the Ocean Raft was already booked for months by a group from the Disney Cruise that was also docked there the same day. So in essence, what happened was that Royal Caribbean lied to us and scammed us in thinking these excursions were available, when, in fact, they knew all along these excursions they offered weren't available because they had to switch ports at the very last minute and everything was booked by another cruise line and left to little to no options for any excursions for passengers at Royal Caribbean. What makes this so bad, is that they waited until we were all on board the ship until they cancelled these excursions. What a scam on their part and very disappointed for a company that strives on customer service. I expected better from this cruise line. Also, the food in main dining for dinners were very subpar disappointing.

Not fun. We had rain 5 out of 7 days on the cruise. All of our reserved excursions were canceled. Would rather have gone to see the northern lights.

The bed was horrible and extremely uncomfortable. We actually have bruises from the bars on the frame because the mattress was so thin.

Beautiful cruise by crusingwmarie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Quantum of the Seas

Such a great cruise, had a wonderful time. All of the stops were great, even the switch from Skagway to Ketchikan (switched two weeks beforehand). The only complaint is the very loud noises we’d hear, not every night but a few, late at night of them working on the ship or pulling things from the ship (metal and banging). Also it was very hard to understand the captain over the loud speaker with his accent.

Nightmare of the Pacific by josh132199

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Quantum of the Seas

I'm really not the one who likes to leave reviews, especially negative ones, but this is one I felt obligated to write. We chose this cruise as a family of 8 trip out of Seattle for a 7 night Alaska Glacier Cruise on Quantum of the Seas 15 -21 May 2023. From the get go, lines were hectic and lengthy at the terminal. It seemed that they did not have near enough staff to accommodate guests on the ship. We boarded the boat at around 1pm, we were informed that we would get our bags before dinner time delivered to our room but we did not receive them until the next day. That means only the clothes on our back for that afternoon and night. Room service was nonexistent the first couple of nights on the cruise, we ran out of towels and toilet paper before we had to request room service. Knowing the advanced gratuity we pay, lack of room service was just unacceptable. The excursions lines in Juneau were abysmal, with delays and wait times. Everything was a struggle. On about the 5th day of the cruise, my 2 year old daughter got extremely sick with uncontrollable vomiting at around 11pm. We took her down to medical where the doctor and nurse saw her, they literally had no response for her condition only giving us blank stares. We were confused and basically had to pry a diagnosis out of the nurse and doctor and talk them into giving her something other than throw-up bags (which she was throwing up in front of them) so they gave her some motion sickness medication. They did not give an explanation of what may be causing her illness and would not even administer the meds to my daughter, as my wife and I along with the doctor had to figure out how to give my daughter the medicine. It was nerve racking receiving eerily silence from the doctor and his handling of the situation. We took her back to the room, she continued the vomit every hour, ruining all our clothes and sheets and came down with a fever. I call back down to medical requesting baby Tylenol after telling them about the fever, and the nurse tells me she would have to call the doctor and charge yet another doctor visit fee for doing so. She then says she will schedule a doctor's appointment at 8am the next morning which was 5 hours from the time I was calling. I then responded by saying that you expect me to let my child to continue to vomit and burn up with a fever for 5 hours even after we previously visited you guys 2 hours ago and you want to double charge me for a medical visit?? She said we can schedule an appointment for 8am. We hung up and about 5 mins later the nurse called back saying I concerned her with the phone call I placed earlier and that she called the doctor and stated it was ok for her to provide us baby tylenol for the fever. I went to pick up the tylenol and adminstered it to my child, and her fever did go down and she did get better. Overall this was a very scary situation and the service provided by the medical staff only made it worse knowing we were stranded in the middle of the Pacific ocean with this being our only medical care. We were charged $470 the following day, even though we are military and have Tricare Prime, we are stuck with this bill to make a claim. The following day, my wife, brother in law, sister in law and myself came down with the Norovirus and spent the final two days of cruise and travel day after throwing up and on the toilet. 7 out 8 people on our family got severely ill on the cruise. My sister in law also saw medical and they informed her that she had kidney issues that was causing her illness, only to find out when she got home to see her care provider that she indeed had Norovirus. Needless to say it seemed that the medical staff did not want to inform us that Norovirus was being spread around the ship. When we got home, on 22 May, I immediately request medical record documentation and medical bill to make my medical claim with insurance to be reimbursed $470 that Royal Caribbean charged me. I submitted all documentation and was told it would be sent in 7-10 business days. It is currently 21 June, almost a month after requested and I have yet to receive any response from Royal Caribbean. I have contacted them 4 times in the past month resending them requested documentation each time but still receive zero response. Each time I talked to customer service they assured me I would receive expediated care and response but never heard anything once the phone calls ended. This has been a huge inconvenience and I'm sick of dealing with this trip. Not to mention, 2 port stops were cancelled and glacier cruise cancelled during the trip. Anything that could went wrong went wrong and the customer service is atrocious. I felt like this cruise was a money grab and the exact opposite of a pleasant Royal Caribbean cruise my wife and I took in Jan 2020. I'm still waiting on my daughter’s medical records to make a claim. I'm tired of wasting time on this horrible experience. I will longer sail Royal Caribbean.
