Review summary

We went to Alaska last year out of San Francisco and we absolutely loved it so we went back. We find end of August beginning of September is a great time to go. We’ve had two great trips to Alaska went on Carnival last yr and on Royal this year-loved them both like I said, not crazy about the Quantum probably would not choose to go back on this ship 🛳️ But Alaska was amazing. We had wonderful time. Seattle was amazing. We have seen amazing things. Hundred percent recommend.

Ship tip

It’s definitely not like the other ships. It’s long and skinny. Honestly, it’s a really bad design or our least favorite ship we’ve ever been on ….that being said you’re on a ship on the sea. It’s a great day.

Ran into another crewmember that we were on in January on the Voyager so that was wild and we did whale watching and the salmon bake. It was absolutely amazing. We saw a whale breach. The salmon bake was amazing. It was just a great day but they did have the excursion wrong as when we were going to eat and so you went Probably eight hours with no food because we thought we were eating first because the tickets said that🤦🏽‍♀️🙄

Sitka, Alaska

We hiked ….didn’t go as far as we wanted, because we got a little worried about the Bears, and it was the salmon in the river and dumb advice from people. We decided against it….. but we did 3 miles. It was beautiful.

You have to stop here🙄 it’s not our favorite place. It’s OK - redfish bluefish is the only thing worth going to here. The line was so long we had to be back on the ship. but we walked around wasted time, saw neat things.

Ketchikan, Alaska

We had a great time - we went kayaking -walked around. I’ve now kayaked in Hawaii and Alaska and I actually don’t recommend it at all. I’m not a fan. 🤯

We sailed on Quantum in April and we agree it’s not our favorite class of Royal ship however if we ever did an Alaskan cruise it would be on that class cause they have so many beautiful indoor spaces (the pool & the solarium). We definitely missed the Ice Shows available on most RCL ships and weren’t impressed by the show in 270 even tho the venue was beautiful.
