Overall is was a great experience, 1st time cruisers. We’ve decided not to do another cruise just because of the sheer number of people.
Embarkation

Really easy, I understand how cattle feel, just follow the people, moving towards the ship. Workers are helpful, and pleasant.

We hung out here the most, best atmosphere for adults, and great wait staff from the sunshine bar.

Service and Staff

Our state room attendant Dolly was great, always smiling and asking if we needed anything.
The waitstaff in the Solarium should give out classes in the real world for customer service, the bartenders at the Sunshine Bar inside the Solarium (Jeff and Yulia) were the best bartenders I’ve ever had.

Cabin / Stateroom

Very comfortable for the two of us. Outlets on each side of the bed, two at the dresser, one in the bathroom. Great view from the balcony, no blocked view.
This place is beyond frustrating. There are 3 levels of the island, the green gondola is free to everyone, it takes you to level 2 of the island to the Red Gondola, this costs money to get you to level 3 to do the actual excursions and zip line. The excursion we did, guided tour of the forest, was nice but not $115 nice. Definitely had a better experience walking around after the excursion.
Just walked around, Tracy’s Crabshack has two locations, you just have to find the hole in the wall location, less people, great wait staff.
Great food.
A little confusing, at first but asking for clarification was huge. The wait is the worst, there’s a couple of hours of nothing but listening to people complain.
You are able to get up and get off by yourself @ 6:30 am, wish we would have chosen that. Don’t get in any hurry or you’ll be extremely frustrated.
We just got off this same cruise and agree that the ship was overcrowded. We don’t usually sail on this large of a ship and probably won’t in the future. Our embarkation and debarkation experience was different, but we purchased the Key. Icy Strait Point was our favorite port, but I understand your disappointment if you didn’t book an excursion. We spent 3 hours up close to whales and will never forget the experience.
Glad you enjoyed parts of your first cruise. Agree with others, try a smaller ship - less crowds, the service feels more personal and some of the itineraries the smaller ships can do are amazing.
Welcome to cruise life! Glad you enjoyed your first cruise to Alaska. Sorry the crowds have dampered any future cruises for you. Possibly try a smaller ship? In any case thank you for sharing your experience.
