Review summary

Honestly We booked this ship and this itinerary in part because it had the North Star, it was going to Skagway and Victoria BC and unfortunately - the North Star was broken and we never made it to these 2 ports. Food was OK Not sure that I would book Royal again - just overall not a great experience

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

3 out of 5
Seattle was very dirty and unpleasant to be in - we went to the mountains instead of the city

Ketchikan, Alaska

3 out of 5
yes - we did a trolley ride = very informative then walked around the city We were very disappointed that this was not Skagway as what was booked - one of the reason we booked this one

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

4 out of 5
We did the gondola and a whale watching excursions - both we good

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER

4 out of 5
Yes did the excursion and this was awesome - highly recommended

Juneau, Alaska

3 out of 5
Did not do an excursion - since permits were used up - we had to rent a car to get to Mendenhall Glacier - turned out OK

Victoria, British Columbia

1 out of 5
So very disappointed we were not able to get off - we had plans to see friends that we had not seen in 5 years at this port. Though I appreciated then urgency to remove the person with the medical emergency I feel that after the coast guard exchange our ship slowed down quite a bit and could have still made the port

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
we self disembarked

We were on the same cruise and had a similar experience. They decided that the Northstar wouldn’t be repaired until after the Alaska season. Bionic Bar only occasionally working. Beds were hard as a rock even after requesting a topper. Missed ports. Not the cruise we booked a year ago. We’re veteran cruisers and we’ll probably not cruise with Royal Caribbean again.

I see that the notice that The North Star onboard Quantum of the Seas is currently not available for guests to enjoy is showing on the RCCL website. What's wrong with it?
