Review summary

Totally awesome trip to Alaska. Definitely see the Glaciers if you can. Get a balcony if you can. We will do this trip again. But we want to stop at Skagway port next time. RC cancelled because of port restrictions after landslides in Skagway. Would also try to eat more local food at the ports. We loved everything about this trip. Would recommend to anyone who loves nature.

Embarkation

Got early checkin and breezed right through. We had the KEY so got to our VIP Filet lunch in the dining room.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Got to Main Dining breakfast twice, lunch twice and dinner 3 out of 7 nights. All were excellent service and just the two of us, except for one dress up night we had one other couple at our table. Food was awesome. Buffets were crowded and finding desired seating was a challenge. Buffet food was good but not spectacular. They could use a few more complimentary food options. Got a little tired of pizza and sandwiches.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
It was cloudy, overcast and chilly so we didn't frequent the pools.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We had the Key which gave us preferred seating. We saw the Las Vegas Singing and Dancing show. Despite a computer glitch, the show was thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable. We also saw the Magician/Comedian. He was good but we've seen better.

Children's Programs

We don't have children and there were very few on board.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Stateroom attendant was great. We got towel animals every day. Main Dining waiters were professional and awesome. Bartenders were prompt and always remembered our favorite drink. Everyone was professional and friendly. Always asking if we needed anything.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
It was a Quantum class and so smaller than the Oasis class ships we've been on before. We liked that it was easy to get from one end to the other and one deck to the other quickly. Smaller crowds which suited us just fine. It was a little dated, and some of the areas smelled a little musty. But overall we enjoyed the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

Awesome views. Ocean. Ports. Glaciers! Totally worth it. Plenty of space for the two of us. Beds were hard (as we remembered from our previous RC cruises). Too cloudy to see any Northern Lights. Oh well, next time!

Ship tip

If you like smaller crowds and fewer children, this is the ship for you.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

We did the Sky Observatory which was way better than the Space Needle. We went to Pier 57 and the Seattle Great Wheel. Took the harbor cruise tour and enjoyed our views and tour narration. We will visit the pier again.

Ketchikan, Alaska

We went on the Eagles, Lighthouses and Totem harbor tour. Got to see all of those things. It was great. Lot's of wild life, including an orca and hump back whales!

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

This port was very wooded and high. We took the Whale Watching tour and got to see around a dozen whales. Totally awesome!

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER

Great scenery! Glad we had a balcony view. We had Room Service in the room. Glacier was wonderful. The icebergs were soooo blue, and green, and white. Will definitely do this again.

Juneau, Alaska

We took the Tram up to Mount Roberts. It reminded me of the Palm Springs Tram to Mount San Jacinto. Great bar and restaurant. Great scenery from the elevation. Wonderful movie.

Victoria, British Columbia Did not visit port

They cancelled this port as the ship turned around to drop off a sick passenger.

Disembarkation

We used the transport service from ship to Airport. We had our checked baggage sent directly to the airplane. Easiest disembarkation experience ever. Good thing from Seattle we had an afternoon flight to Boise and TSA Pre-Check!
