Review summary

I love cruising. In my opinion the shore excursions are a waste of time and money unless it is something you are really interested in. I would rather go into town and mingle with the locals and shop for souvenirs. The rest of the time I will spend on the ship. Lots to do on the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The main dining room is great. You feel like you are in a first class restaurant. We didn't use any of the specialty restaurants but the windjammer buffet is fantastic.

Windjammer Marketplace

5 out of 5

We always eat breakfast and lunch at the windjammer, then eat supper at the main dining room. Windjammer has an excellent variety of food. It is so big, you have to look around to find some stuff. Like bread and bagels, they are hidden back in a corner. Hahaha

Onboard Activities

Rock Climbing Wall

5 out of 5

My 9 year old daughter likes the climbing wall also. She can only get half way up, to the first bell, but she loves to get that far and ring the bell.

Pool

5 out of 5

My 9 year old daughter loves all the free stuff there is to do. The pools are great, I like the hot tubs, she likes the cold water.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
I am never disappointed in the shows on Royal Caribbean cruises. They always have exceptional entertainment.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I only had real interaction with the wait staff in the main dining room. They were great.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship is well maintained and clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Royal Caribbean is pretty smart. When I first started cruising about 30 years ago, I would get the cheap inside cabin. Then one time they gave me a free upgrade to an ocean view with a porthole. So then I would always book that one. Then they upgraded me to a higher deck with a window. And you guessed it, after that, I would always book on a high deck with a window. Would you believe, then they gave me a free upgrade to a balcony, and I have been booking a balcony ever since. I will have to say things have changed. Before it was like going to a five star hotel, toothbrush and toothpaste, they would make your bed in the morning while you were at breakfast and turn it down and leave a chocolate bite on the pillow while you were at supper. Now you have to bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste and they only make your bed in the morning. Now, I consider them a 3 star hotel.

Ports of call

Airlie Beach, Queensland, Australia

4 out of 5
Not too impressed with Airlie Beach. Not too much to do that didn't cost money. We went on a glass bottom boat, but could only see grey coral and an occasional grey fish. Waste of time and money. I guess I was expecting to see colorful fish and coral, like on the TV. Live and learn.

Brisbane, Australia

4 out of 5
Brisbane was ok, didn't do too much except go from the airport to the cruise terminal and then from the cruise terminal to the airport after disembarking the ship.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We always just bring carry-ons so we can leave the ship at 7 or 7:30. No need to go to the waiting area and wait for our color to be called to allow us to go out on the pier and try and find our luggage.
