I wont do Norwegian again by RobertT6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was beautiful but there are not any good places to quietly watch the water go by like on the Carnival ships. The view from the #7 deck that runs down the side of the ship is obstructed by lifeboats with about a twenty foot gap in the middle. I loved the waterpark and layout of the pool area. More hot-tubs would always be better. The nightlife is kind of a hit or miss thing, not many nightclubs and they only have stuff for short periods of time. The studio staterooms are good for singles, I definately would not put a second person in the room. It would be nice if they could squeeze a flat spot into the room somewhere to lay stuff down. The "living room" for the studio is very nice with a really nice young lady that keeps it up, I like the whole "singles" thing they have going on.

An excellent cruise in many ways by SallyK16355839

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We were looking forward to cruising on the Epic as we had heard so much about it beforehand. We were not disappointed. There was plenty to do, lots of fun and excitement. You just can't beat the pricing compared to other vessels of this size and the fact that it's a brand new ship. We couldn't say enough about our cruise. Everyone was so friendly and helpful in every way.

An EPIC cruise by LynnH6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Because this ship is so large, it takes time to get somewhere. The casino is smack dab in the middle of the ship, so to get from point A to point B on that floor you have to walk through gagging cigarette smoke!! The acoustics in the staterooms on the ship are not the best. The pay restaurants that we visited were very good. Thankfully there is a quiet area for sunbathing, so you can get away from the noise of the pool deck. We were on the 14th floor and it seemed like the elevator had issues stopping on that floor, we frequently had to take the stairs to another floor to catch an elevator. Escalator wasn't working between the lower floors either.

Take your checkbook by LisaM29

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean

We arrived with excitment for 14 day back to back., not too sure we like the freestyle thing it was great to arrive at dinner when you want but if you want a faboulous meal you must pay for it as if your going out to dinner at home, we had a balcony it was very very small compared to other cruises we were on in the past, we had a drain on the balconay that made a horrible water girgle all the time for 2 weeks..my husband is 6'5" and he slept for 2 weeks with his legs hangin over the bed it is not standard size it was a queen ..no space to move around the bes at all you cannot pass anyone if they ar standing at the end of the bed and it is the walkway...the shower was nice but like a stall in a motorhome as the toilet too no fan or vent in the enclosed stall....buffet food was good at best but the same items over and over...getting on and off the ship was nice very organized and quick

second rate company with a new ship by LewisL1

Poorly organized; can't handle the crowd; food mostly mediocre, except for a few meals; employees not knowledgeable and seem overwhelmed; everything broke at one time or another, including all the elevators and the toilet in our stateroom

An overcrowed cruise by AdrianaM

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Really I don't like the ship, it is really big, but it has no really amazing things to do. The adult zone is boring and to small. The excursions that they offers are a completely lie. The announcements were only in English, in three opportunities the speak in other languages, but the rest of the time only in English, very impolite for the people that do not speak in English. Remember NCL in other cruise line they made ALL announcements in 5 languages. Conclusions: No more NCL cruises for me. :-(

A Fantastic NCL-EPIC Cruise by TomK1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our 4th Cruise and our 3rd with Norwegian Cruise Line, all NCLs booked through Travel. We traveled as a couple without children. We had a balcony stateroom. The ship was Gigantic. Currently the EPIC is the 2nd largest cruise ship in the world. It has, Unlimited activities, excellent entertainment and food galore. Even though we had 4000+ passengers it never seemed overcrowded for any aspect we chose.

Organized luxury by KarenD14

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I was amazed by the organized operation of the boarding process, show/shore excursion reservations, food service, and information dissemination. The use of the cabin TV as a computer to access one's shipboard account, dining options, ship amenities, etc., allowed travelers to utilize their time effectively. Food and maintenance staff were particularly committed to answering questions or addressing guest issues in a timely, personalized manner.

The beautiful new NCL Epic by MarkK5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We've cruised the Caribbean so many times before we swore we would never cruise there again, until we found out about the new NCL Epic. It was the entertainment on board that made us choose this ship, and we weren't disappointed! The ship itself is very well appointed. We never felt there were 4,000 other guests on board, unless we were looking for deck chairs at the pool.

Beautiful Ship by Gb

The contemporary of the ship is very impressive. The exiting of the ship was the best that I have ever encountered. The booking of ticket threw the TV in your stateroom was also impressive.

The Epic is a beautiful ship. It is well layed out. There were over 4000 people on the ship and I never felt like it was crowded. The service was very helpful and friendly. We can't wait to go again.

An Epic Let Down by JenniferH1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

It wasn't the worst cruise ever, but with all of the hype I really expected to be "wowed". We have cruised NCL before and found that the service on this ship was lacking. In the main dining rooms it took at least 15 minutes before someone even took our drink orders (we were the third party seated at 5:30pm) and then it took a ridiculous amount of time to get our food, which was not delicious. We ate breakfast in the dining room one other time, had a similar experience and from then on just made our way to the buffett. There were many times when we were sitting at a high top table in a bar/restaurant and either were not asked if we wanted a drink (an alcoholic drink which they make money off of) or if we did get our first drink, no one came around to ask if we wanted another after that one. The swimming pools were extremely small (two pools about 20' x 8'), but they did have water slides. There were a lot of hot tubs and it was easy enough to find an empty one. We loved our stateroom! We got one with a balcony and there was a ton of storage. We even had space left over. The ship just launched in July, so everything was new and in good working condition. Seeing Blue Man Group was great and The Second City improv comedy troupe was hilarious. We recommend the Murder Mystery dinner for which you have to pay extra. The spa, where we normally spend most of our money was not as relaxing as it has been on previous cruises. I really felt a sense of loss about this one. It's the part that I really look forward to; just being able to relax and unwind, forget about everything with quiet, serene space with low lighting, soft music and the smell of lavender in the air. Instead I felt like their spa was a busy intersection. I heard the cruise director make an annoucement about a ping pong tournament while I was getting a hot stone massage. We have cruised NCL twice before this cruise and we cruised Carnival once. We vowed never to cruise Carnival again, so I really thought that this cruise was going to make us NCL people for life. Now, however, it has left me wanting to see what else is out there. Royal Caribbean, anyone?

Had a Blast! by PorscheJ

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Norwegian Epic truly lives up to it's name. I had a great time with friends and family and highly recommend this ship. The crew and support staff were superb and always helpful. The ship was well maintained, clean and a joy to walk through. I felt as if I was walking in a museum. The food was fantastic. There were many selections of meats, sides, fruits and desserts. The entertainment was dazzling esecially The Blue Man Group and Cirque Dreams. The Kid's Recess was fantastic. My son never wanted to leave!

Had a great time on the NCL Epic! Great ship, amazing staff, we loved our balcony cabin and spent lots of time in the spa. The Mandara Spa is the most amazing spa at sea! In addition, the shows were wonderful, I'd highly recommended cruise!

Loving the Epic by KatyB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship was nearly new and we were very impressed with the entire place. We started with a tour of the spa and found out that the first 60 couples had a chance to upgrade to exclusive access to the spa (private pool, sauna, steam room, hottub, heated stone beds, and a view out the back of the ship) for only $199 per couple for the week - Sold! This was absolutely the best part of the cruise, as we never had to fight the crowds on the pool deck and it was VERY relaxing - well worth the investment, and I can see why others get the spa rooms, if only for this perk!

The cojuna of the cruise shipping world by JohnF34

Sail date: / Traveled as:
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Comparing with Carnival staff, NCL's Epic were more up beat, knew how to say good morning and were abel to engage in conversation without fear of repraisals from supervisors. Supervisors not afraid to work along employees helping around seen that guests were satisfied with performance. The video of crew staff thanking the guest and urging to come back to cruise again with NCL. Affordable prices, hoping that with Allure of the seas coming on line in December 2010 NCL can make more affordable cruising on the Epic. The prices on the Oasis of the seas a bit too high for the middle class, although this is the (mother of all mother's in the cruising industry). If the inside cabins increases to $1,000 per occupancy NCL will loose guests, including the nations in which the ships make ports of calls (revenue)

A "So-So" Cruise by Haroldm1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean

The Norwegian Epic is a new modern ship. It is quiet and well laid out with convenient elevators and stairways. However, our stateroom, a Family Balcony, which supposedly could have accomodated four was small and cramped for just my wife and myself. The curved sofa was uncomfortable and could only be sat on with any degree of comfort if one sits at either end. Lastly, the "open" bathroom was what I hated most. The small sink mounted in the bedroom allowed water to splash all over everything and it was an annoyance if the other party were trying to sleep. The sounds from the toilet and shower easily passed through the privacy curtain. No way will I ever choose this type stateroom again.
