RCCL Freedom of the Seas by jimburk338

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Good Stuff- Excellent staff and service, Excellent balcony stateroom (largest balcony stateroom we have ever had), Very nice ship with lots to do, loved the ice show. Two of the nightly show were not aimed at my age group 65+ but, I can understand they have to cater to all age groups. Embarkation and disembarkation were the best I have ever experienced on any of my 15 total cruises, in my view a very important point.

The not so good stuff- Food average at best, internet service slowest in the world (I got 2 days of unlimited service for free because I am a Diamond member) however, I would never pay for this service. Just go ashore and find a free internet service at a business or restaurant/Bar. TV was terrible no sat. service for 3 of the 7 days, ships tv ran on a loop. You could watch the same tv shows a least 3 times a day.every day of the cruise.

All in all a very enjoyable cruise.

7 day cruise in November by ssher1992

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We had a wonderful time on the ship. The staff were out of this world and the food was great. Even tired snails for the first time and yummy. My husband loved the rock climbing and flowrider (boggie board). I think he caught the bug for rock climbing. Our steward Bruce was so great and helpful. Enjoyed talking with him. The staff works so hard. The ice show was fantastic and amazing to skate on a short rink. Comedy was very funny. Would recommend Freedom of the Seas and the ports. We went on an ATV tour in St. Marteen and the tour was well done. Rode your own and went to two beaches. Very pretty. Would recommend doing this excursion.

First time sailing with Royal Caribbean by kfinknkmac1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We had a wonderful time on this cruise. Royal Caribbean does not disappoint! We usually sail with Carnival...the difference, the age group. Royal Caribbean looks like it's geared towards 65 yrs+...my husband and I are in our early 40's and really needed more 'young' things to do! Ship was dead at midnight! Looked like a ghost ship. It ended up being ok, because hubby and I had pool and jacuzzi to ourselves. The dining servers were the BEST we ever had! Vernon and Estevan made sure we had everything we needed and more! Ship is beautiful! Shows were great. Our cruise director Casey Pelter was OUTSTANDING!!! Made the cruise for us!

Coco Cay was relaxing, husband went snorkling and enjoyed it. St Thomas and St Marteen were beautiful!

All in all great trip, only complaint was not much to do after midnight! Carnival is the fun ship...Royal Caribbean 'the dull' ship!

Loved every minute! by Cruiser502

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My friend and I joined a group of scrapbookers and hopped aboard the Freedom of the Seas, where we were pampered for 8 days.  Loved the Royal-Carribean-owned Coco Cay and the awesome Coco Loco drink they served.  Nice picnic-style lunch.  Beautiful water, lots of fish to see while snorkeling.  Chairs under palm trees if you wanted to get out of the sun for awhile.

In St. Thomas we went on a sailboat with Captain Mike out to an island reef where we watched sea turtles feeding.  We also saw stingrays and held a sea urchin.  Then shopping.

In St. Maarten our excursion was canceled due to a broken boat, so we found a taxi and headed to Maho Beach where the Sunset Bar serves awesome drinks (alcoholic and non are both excellent).  We loved watching the planes take off from the airport just above the swimmers and snorkelers.  Highly recommend this cruise.

Exceeded expectations by christz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was a much better experience than I had a few years ago, when cost-cutting was obvious and service suffered. This time everything was back up to the levels I was accustomed to, and above. Service was attentive, staff were cheerful and every request received quick response. Menu choices in the dining room were varied, well prepared and attractively presented. It was hard to decide whether to go to Windjammer for the many choices, or to the dining room for quiet service at breakfast and lunch. We enjoyed a sumptuous dinner at Chops, with a level of food and service above that in the dining room. My mother really enjoyed her massage in the spa, and the masseuse was very caring and attentive. Our cabin steward was efficient but unobtrusive, and available whenever we needed him. The stage show was up to the professional standards we have always enjoyed, and the ice show was dazzling and amazing. I was glad to see it is now offered on two different days, twice each day, because it is so popular. We frequented the Cafe Promenade for a cup of coffee or tea, or a cold drink, and a comfortable place to sit and people watch in the Royal Promenade. I also enjoyed the R Bar whose delightfully personable bartenders bantered with the patrons and each other as they expertly mixed elaborate creations. We went ashore for the beach day at Coco Cay, finding lounge chairs in the shade, enjoyed one of the day's beverages and a lunch with many selections to choose from.

We had a chance to avail ourselves of the ship's medical facility when an elderly member of our party had a minor mishap. The staff were attentive, professional and reassuring. The center itself was well equipped and not cramped but comfortable enough to serve a number of people at one time.

I left the ship with good memories and ready to go again.

advertised comps/billing by englishrose1c1j

had a great time overall.  this was my 7th cruise on RC and never a problem.  I usually book thru AAA but this time I decided to book thru .  The tour coupon presented was not honored, nor was the cash voucher. I had thought the gratuities had also been included in the original billing, but they were on the final ship's bill.  Other than that, the Virgin Islands are beautiful, the staff were wonderful, and the sailing great

First time with Royal Caribbean by Cruiser370

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was my first time cruising with Royal Caribbean. I usually cruise with Carnival but I wanted to try a new cruise line to compare. Freedom of the Seas was a nice ship and they always had a lot going on. The buffets were amazing and there was always a great selection of food. The dinners at night were pretty good as well but not as much selection. I loved the ice skating shows and comedy but they didn't have comedy every night. They had rock climbing and flow riding on board as well. I liked our servers at dinner they were amazing. Our stateroom attendant was nice as well and kept the room clean. Would recommend this ship and sail with Royal Caribbean again.

Service and dining by Cruiser692

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My sister and I loved the attention and courtesy.  Dining was excellent and we dressed appropriately for fine dining.  Disappointed that RC did not inforce the dress code.  Would not hurt the men to try a little harder.  Only problem were one couple added late in the cruise. Very RUDE to server berated him in front of the rest of us (6) nothing satisfied him.  Not only the waiter but the manager as well, next night the same thing.  Camillio had served us four nights and did so beautifully.  Scott had no right to belittle this man.  No one escaped this man's nastiness. One couple left early.  The manager denied him entrance ..thank goodness.   I think RC should ban this bore.

I really enjoyed the cruise, the entertainment was wonderful. I wish they would have had more photo shots with the Madagascar characters and they were seen more throughout the ship.

Quick Quotes Scrapbook Cruise by Cruiser126

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Had a wonderful time on the ship.  We had first dining in the Issac dining room.  The waiter we had John was fantastic.  Loved his Happy, Happy, Happy personality.  Food was very good.  First time trying the cold (chilled) soups they were great.  I would highly recommend trying one.  I loved the Banana Rum one.  Not sure of the correct name for it.  The lady that did our stateroom was fantastic.  She was very nice.  The only thing is that no mint on the pillow at nights now and towel animals done every other night.  She said sorry about not doing the towel animals every night but now they do them every other night.  I said it's ok.  It is a cutback that I can live without but does give an extra WOW to the cruise to me.  I have cruised before and this was my sister-in-laws first cruise.  So as I missed them she didn't since she didn't know.  We did the Ice Skating show was fantastic.  Did see a few other shows also.  I loved the Magic Show also.  We did have some scrapbook classes since this was a scrapbook group that I was with.  Had a fantastic time with the Quick Quote classes.

Le Cruise by ed1847

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Until the last two nights, the Cruise was like being in heaven, then the toilets went off line.  It would have been a lot less inconvenient if the cabins in the effected area had been notified so that they would have known not to use their stateroom toilets and end up having to deal with the unpleasant aroma.  Also, walking expeditiously to the far end of the ship two or three times a night, is a little rough on older passengers.  I realize that mechanical breakdowns do happen and are almost impossible to for see in most cases, but keeping those effected informed would make it a lot easier to deal with.  Including not getting any sleep due to the use of the Auger in the early morning hours.  Otherwise, I still intend to take my booked cruises with RCCL.

Super fun week! by stevehuggins

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our 1st cruise, Nov 1 - Nov 8 2015. For years I have asked friends and relatives about their past cruises and which ones they liked the best. Everyone said that Royal Caribbean is the best. They were right! We had a blast! Superb service from everyone... wait staff, bar staff, stateroom attendants... Wow! There was sooo much to do on the ship, great food, and we met a lot of new friends! We will definitely book our next cruise with RC!

Freedom of the Seas Experience by wilandtim

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was not what we expected from the Royal Caribbean cruise line.  First, the High Seas Rally was taking place when we went.  Essentially, these are Harley Davidson motorcycle club members who raise money for charity, which I endorse; however, this was not a good time to sail when they were.  Some of them were heavy partying drinkers.  Many people on the cruise were unaware, as my husband and I were, that this is what was meant by "High Seas Rally."  Most of them were loud and not exactly dressed in what I think of as decent clothing.  We did meet some couples who were the type of people (who we were told by co-workers) who frequented this cruise line.  The food was OK but not great.  Potatoes and rice were served at every meal, even in the dining room!  Our room's bathroom was much smaller than what we experienced on Carnival (on the other cruises we've previously done).  The service in the dining room was exceptional and the servers made our trip much better! The room steward was great but there were no laundry facilities or even anywhere to iron our clothes (we had to pay for it on this cruise) like we had on Carnival. Some of the entertainment was good.  I'm going back to Carnival!

Worst Vacation Ever by cruisinggal

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This trip was planned to celebrate my 19th wedding anniversary.  I found out upon arrival to the ship that a massive group of bikers (1835 to be exact) were going to be onboard.  This was one issue because reservations were being bumped, underwear was being hung outside stateroom doors, and it was like Halloween every single night on the ship.  The food was utterly putrid, and made me physically ill each and every night.  I am highly disappointed that did not notify me of this, because I would have rather of chosen a different cruiseship that particular week, even if it meant leaving from another port, but I was not given that option.  I also was told that my $75.00 onboard credit was part of a promotion and after receiving my bill, there was no credit established, and I had to call from the ship and hold for over an hour trying to resolve this issue.  Dissappointed at for being misleading, and at RC for having barely edible food!

Wonderful cruise on a wonderful ship! by Cruiser766

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The food, service, ship, entertainment, and itinerary were ALL OUTSTANDING!  The selection and quality of food in the Windjammer were great.  We visited Chops twice and Giovanni's Table once.  Otherwise we ate all of our meals in the Windjammer because we enjoyed this so much!!  The service was great from all of the staff throughout the entire ship and they really tried to make us feel at home and attend to our every need!

Absolutely wonderful family cruise with RC Freedom of the Seas by cruiser737

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our 2nd cruise--first with Disney Magic several years ago--We had 3 cabins for 7 family members--ages 12 to 58-- and ALL had a great time.  Entertainment is professional quality, Cruise Director Casey is OUTSTANDING, very involved with information and special events, his  morning tv program is recorded fresh and well worth watching for both information and entertainment.  Dinners in Leonardo's with our servers Asley P and Ismael was wonderful every evening--these 2 were over-the-top in making our dinners special events, especially in providing our gluten-intolerant daughter with a personalized menu that equaled or bested the regular outstanding menu.  Great job by so many on the ship...and we took our Florida kids ice skating!!! There's an ice rink on board!!!!  World class snorkeling on land and tip-top experiences on the Freedom.  We look forward to doing this again soon.

Biker week by Samyoth

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Real bad experience, I felt like I should have not been on that boat.

Second cruise for me and I expected class on the boat.

We had a boat full of bikers, they took control of the boat that week.

I was not aware and just found out when we arrived.

The cause they are boating for is great so I tried to give them a chance.

Seeing everyday rednecks with their confederate flag t-shirts and even looking at one of them putting the confederate flag on the balcony so everyone could see when they come back from the islands was extremely disturbing. I wish I knew about this group and I would have picked another cruise line or destination.
