Review summary

My friend and I joined a group of scrapbookers and hopped aboard the Freedom of the Seas, where we were pampered for 8 days.  Loved the Royal-Carribean-owned Coco Cay and the awesome Coco Loco drink they served.  Nice picnic-style lunch.  Beautiful water, lots of fish to see while snorkeling.  Chairs under palm trees if you wanted to get out of the sun for awhile.

In St. Thomas we went on a sailboat with Captain Mike out to an island reef where we watched sea turtles feeding.  We also saw stingrays and held a sea urchin.  Then shopping.

In St. Maarten our excursion was canceled due to a broken boat, so we found a taxi and headed to Maho Beach where the Sunset Bar serves awesome drinks (alcoholic and non are both excellent).  We loved watching the planes take off from the airport just above the swimmers and snorkelers.  Highly recommend this cruise.

Plenty of room. Much improved over the last cruise I took 12 years ago. Plenty of storage space. Never felt cramped. Beds were comfortable. 2 beds, couch, desk/chair, sofa for 2, 3 mirrors.

Ship tip

Loved the formal dinner. When do you ever have the opportunity to consume world-class food every night of the week. Wait staff was engaging and accommodating, never stuffy. Windjammer food was good also, but we missed our wait staff.

Cool! I'm going to look it up. Carnival had scrapbooking sessions a few years back but it was free.
