The pizza on the Promenade was pretty good as we're some of the sandwiches from the coffee shop. The food in the Windjammer was nearly as good as what was in the dining room and if you prefer to dress more casually then that is the place to be....not as stuffy. There was always a good selection.
Pizza was free at the Pizza place on the promenade. The drinks aren't free, but if you have one of the drink packages it pays off. Tips are included in the purchase of the package. They had a cupcake shop and I bought one of the cupcakes for a little over 2 dollars. It was delicious!
The food in the Starbucks coffee shop is free (although the Starbucks is not) - not many people realized this and there was never a line.
Some people don't know, the food, not the drinks are free in Cafe Promenade
I would suggest the Dining Room for lunch. The salad bar is exceptional.
As a Caribbean I do believe it was a good opportunity to see other countries and meet other people to see how they live and how different they do things. The shores Excursions were good even though I was not able to do more.
If you let your waiter know it is a special occasion , they will remember. They will remember if you order a certain type of roll or a special appetizer more than once, then they will inquire if you want that the next time or they will all ready have that particular roll for you.
Great idea to book a room in the forward of the ship since the food places are located in the aft, causing you to walk off all the food!
Try to book a top deck if you are not a smoker I was on 8, wish I had been higher for more breeze.
Always check the Ship's compass (newsletter) daily. It's the best way to not miss any of the fun activities.
Get a balcony room. Loved sitting out on the balcony sipping my coffee as we pulled into port, and falling asleep at night watching lightning storms.
Lunch at the dinning room is MUCH better than the windjammer cafe.
We enjoy the promenade deck to meet up after dinner.
Room Service and hit the pool deck early before it gets full
This is a very large ship, the crowd was noticeable on a couple instances. If participating in shows or other group events, get there early.
One tip about our trip would be to advise future guests to be ready for a fun filled, busy port of call schedule. If you visit all of the ports (there were 5 for us), you won't have much ship time, and this makes for very busy days since many of the ports require 1-2 hours of travel to the cities to see what you came to see, such as Florence (1.5 hours - 2 hours each way by train), or Roma (Rome), more than 1 hour each way by train. You must plan to leave the ship early and arrive back late in order to see these 2 stops, and you still won't have enough time, other than to get a taste of each city as it requires a 2-3 days in Rome and probably 1-2 days in Florence to see it all.
The Viking Lounge on Deck 14 has floor to ceiling views and comfortable chairs.
We thoroughly enjoyed dining in the Windjammer restaurant! Great selection and the service was outstanding! I would also recommend Chops Steakhouse and Sabor for Specialty Dining. Don't miss the entertainment on this beautiful ship! The ice show is not to be missed!
Plan your excursions ahead. Consider walking and crowds when planning. Some excursions are very crowded with tourists.
Great size, not too big. Clean & comfortable.
