First cruise with Royal Caribbean. It'll be my last. I can't believe I actually paid for that trip. Going to try a different company next trip.

I think over all Royal Caribbean did a good job. I noticed the shortage of supplies and staffs. But overall comfort and service is still great.

Amazing destinations during coronavirus concerns. by modegirl79

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Quantum of the Seas / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

Like many people, I did not want to take this cruise due to coronavirus concerns. RC was unwilling to budge to allow people get credit for a different cruise - unless they were from China or Hong Kong since they were not allowed to sail. TOTALLY UNFAIR BUSINESS PRACTICE!!! Look at the cruise ships that were quarantined - that could have been the Quantum! Thankfully, it was not. Overall, we thought the Quantum was a nice, modern ship. The passengers formed a real melting pot, with people from ALL over the world. The crew was doing all they could to make passengers feel comfortable and safe. They can only do so much, after all. The cruise itself was not the highlight of our trip, but the destinations were - especially Singapore and Phuket. Willing to give RC another chance in the future, but might invest extra cash in one of those "cancel for any reason" travel insurance plans just in case chaos ensues.

Very disappointed!!! by kuuleilovesdelane

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Quantum of the Seas / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

I was very very disappointed with the service, staff, food, and people onboard... Service sucked, My stateroom host wasn’t consistent and I hardly ever seen her or got welcomed by her. The Man that was serving the ice cream cones had no gloves and we complained about that.

Exiting Royal Caribbean Cruise by osmanaly1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

The Quantum of the Seas Ship is the largest ship I have ever cruised on. The state of the art theaters are outstanding. There are many venues to keep you busy and interested.

Unbelievable Ship by missmc123

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Quantum of the Seas / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

Quantum of the Seas is an unbelievably beautiful ship. It is brand new and gorgeous beyond expectations. The artwork throughout is stunning and the public areas are so beautiful.  I stayed in the owner suite and it was so roomy and deluxe. We were treated like royalty by the crew. Being on a ship that was almost 90% asian passengers may be difficult for some people, however, because we were in a suite, the amenities gave us a break from the general population.  The cruise is definitely catering to the Asian market, so do not be surprised to find that things are not like a RCCL that sails out of the US.  The food in the buffet was geared toward Asian tastes but the specialty restaurants were awesome and great fun. I highly recommend staying in a suite to have the ability to work with a concierge and get a little break from the crowds. Well worth the extra price for access to the private dining room alone!

Japan Quantum of the Seas by galvezlourdes

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Quantum of the Seas / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

In a few words it was a nightmare. We not only detour from original planned destination but we ended in a comercial port at Korea where everyone was unprepared to received trourists. Food was distastful, got food poison at the ship reported to guest services. 80 % of the passengers were comoplaining protests were made every night in the ship. We were unable to shop or enjoy our staying at the ship. Our suite did not have TV or cable, toilet was leaking or cloged. Fortunately we bought another room and were able to use toilets. Among other unpleasant experiences we had. Please provide an adress were I can write in detail all this terrible experience we had.

Nice Repositioning Cruise. by mmurr5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Quantum of the Seas / Destination: Transatlantic

During this first leg of a repositioning cruise from New Jersey to Shanghai the ship was full, but did not seem so, except for when we were in some of the more popular restaurants or at the blockbuster show (Mama Mia). The dynamic dining had it's problems, but the restaurants had great food, for the most part.

Cabin was a standard balcony and was well laid out. Good service from room attendant. Good variety of entertainment, but not a lot of activities during the day for so  many people - over 4000. Pretty rocky ride during the transatlantic crossing.

Awful internet service! Only one our iPads had connectivity (very slow) and we purchased a package for two. No reimbursement offers.

My experience on Royal Caribbean's Quantum on the Seas by warnerwinston

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Quantum of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship, WoW it was magnificent. My experience at the pier was great. It took us ten minutes from our arrival until we got on board. As far as I could see, there was no confusion compared to my other cruise with this cruise line and four with Carnival Cruise Lines. Our balcony on the twelve floor was roomy and spectacular.

The restaurants and the food were great. I liked being able to eat at the restaurant of my choice and the option of eating at world class restaurants for a reasonable price. The smart electronics was also very enjoyable. The shows were spectacular. You may not be able to book on the Quantum, but the Anthem of the Seas is on its way.

First Cruise Experience by 1stRoyalCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Quantum of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I had an amazing time on my first cruise on Quantum of the Seas, a Royal Caribbean Cruise.  I can't compare it to another cruise, but I can give you my impressions as a first time cruiser.

The ship was beautiful with many great restaurants.  We had amazing food in all of them.  Silk, American Icon Grille and the Grande were my favorites.  I was a bit disappointed in Chops.  I had better steak and beef in the other restaurants which surprised me.  The dynamic dining was not a favorite with regular cruisers, but for me it was like going to a new restaurant every night.

The evening live entertainment was really marvelous, with Mama Mia, the live musical on stage as my favorite.  The cast of this show was super talented and very friendly and engaging when recognized roaming the ship.  Also the bank, Savannah Jack, was extremely talented and fun to see.  The band members were also very friendly when encountered at various venues on the ship.

I was a disappointed in the movie choices on the cruise and also the location of the movies - on a big screen on deck.  I would have liked more current movie choices, shown in the theater at more reasonable times than the late night showings we had.  An afternoon movie would have been nice once in a while.

The staff was very friendly and helpful.  Our stateroom attendant was especially nice and kept our bathroom and stateroom clean and neat at all times.

Our stateroom was very nice.  The bathroom was especially nice, with a great shower.  We did have a bit of a leak from the shower, but with extra towels brought by our stateroom attendant, it was no problem.  The bed was comfortable and we had plenty of closet space and drawer space for our clothing.

As I said, I enjoyed myself completely and will definitely book another cruise sometime in the future, probably with Royal Caribbean.

classy ship and the newness is a plus by jandphart

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Quantum of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Good cruise - not sure about the dining rooms vs a main dining room.  But we were never turned away from a restaurant due to no reservation, though we do eat early (6-6:30).

Bugs me that they reserve so much prime space around the main pool for smokers.  If you want to get out of the sun for awhile you have to scrounge.  Half or one side would be ample.

A mixed bag. by drpritchard2003

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Quantum of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This was a cruise of contrasts. The ship is beautiful and technologically unmatched in my experience. The dinning was a disappointing experience for the most part. Some of the crew had difficulty with english beyond a basic understanding. While I enjoyed the Ifly, the Northstar and the bumper cars, I probably would not chose this style of cruising for future cruises based on the dinning experience. I do not regret my one time experience. If they change the dinning to a  more tradional style I would be interested in trying it again.

Excellent by marilena21

Ship: Quantum of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Overall excellent, ship was very clean and the service was awesome.

2 complaints:

1.  Ice Cream machine by the outdoor pool was broken all the time.  They need a new machine.

2.  Coco Cay Beach has a lot of small rocks and they hurts your feet.

Quantum Fails to WOW by barbgert

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Quantum of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We have cruised many times on Royal Caribbean, Disney, and Princess. Our favorite is the Royal Oasis which knocked our socks off. With all the publicity on the new Quantum, we expected even more - how disappointing! Getting on the ship was tiresome as we had to have a person enter our info on a touch pad - no lines - it was utter chaos. Then we waited for our "assigned" time to go on the ship - along with a few hundred others. The excursion area was poorly staffed which was our first stop where we were informed that the cabanas on Coco Cay were offered to those in the suites, therefore there were none available. The staff were very unfriendly, not helpful, the ship was not kept clean of dropped food nor water on the floor. The bumper cars were a joke as the venue was used also for roller skating and open basketball, thus the cars were available every couple of days for a couple of hours for which we stood in line for an hour to get a two minute ride! The dining was poor as many menu items were offered in each restaurant. The mandatory "wash your hands before entering the Windjammer" was never kept clean with water all over the sinks and floor - we actually saw someone fall-yet there was a greeter there at all times who did just that - greet. In every restaurant, you had to request something to drink as in tea, cola, etc. - it was never offered!! The furnishings in the common areas were made for sleeping - extremely deep sofas with cushions you had to crawl onto, wicker looking teepees for you to crawl into to sleep - talk about germy!! There were no afternoon movies for viewing - if you didn't want more sun or to play bingo, you were out of luck. We had to get to the airport and chose the "early walk off" only instead they made us all corral into an area and then finally let us disembark - formally we just left our rooms and walked off the ship. We were totally NOT WOWED by this ship, it's staff nor the amenities!!

A different kind of cruise. by drpritchard2003

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Quantum of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The internet connection is the best. Probably pricey for many but with out complaints by those who used it. The resturants are a different story. Many we would chose not to go back to. The food was not as good or as much variety as we would have hoped for. Because you dine in a different resturant you do not get to know your wait staff or fellow cruisers. When we asked officers about feedback they indicate that it was about 50/50 pos and neg response. We dined in the Grande on two different occasions and will not return. The service was not terrible but not what you would hope for and the food left something to be desired. Chops is really very good as it is on many others ships and we will return there. There are more resturants we did not like that one we did. Johnny Rockets is not a regular set up. It is only food to go. There is out side seating but it is limited with no wait staff. We like the food there.   This ship is being prepared to be sent to China. Many of the staff seem to be in training and the language is difficult at times. I would say that they are all nice and try to be helpful but have challenges.  Because the same class of ship will be sailing soon I would suggest that if you want a different experience this would be a good chance to have it. If you prefer a more traditional experience it probably won't  be your cup of tea.  The staff in the concierge club,Mario and Filip are first rate and Captain Felix is the right person for this ship. Wendy Kirby is, in my opinion, the best loyality abassador in the Crown and Anchor Society,

Beautiful New Ship by pammyjanec734

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Quantum of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Every new innovation is on the Quantum.  We had a beautiful balcony stateroom that was larger than I expected. More than the usual storage facilities.  Glass enclosed shower.  Room steward and the dining room staff were exceptional. Saw Mamma Mia & it was wonderful.  Now the reason for the three star rating.  Long lines for any attraction.  We dined in the free dining rooms.  2 x's @ Chic, 2x's @ The American Icon Grill & 2x's @ The Grand (formal dress) & the last night @ the upstairs buffet.  The food was not that good.  I've been on RC 2x's before, once in Europe & the food was delicious & once to Bermuda and the food was not that good.  I'm comparing these dining experiences to Princess Cruises & Celebrity Cruises.  You can't compare RC to Princess or Celebrity.  Princess & Celebrity have wonderful food RC needs a new head chef.  I must say that breakfast was great  & we had that in the Am. Icon Grill everyday.  I could go on and on about the RC Food.  Lets just say it compares to Carnival & Carnival was not that good either.

Summary by jmcgratty22

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Quantum of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Quantum is a beautiful ship and very high tech. However, the food in both types of restaurants was lacking. AND the SERVICE was horrible---except for Franco in The Grand Restaurant. RCI is getting things in order to send their ship to China. Many Chinese waiter/waitresses and assistants are learning the "ropes" of their job---at our expense and that was not cheap. Again, most of the food lacked taste and the service help were just learning. I felt like I/we were guinea pigs. {In CHIC restaurant, the waitress told me NOT to order the dish I wanted because it comes out of the kitchen very dry. I then ordered another dish and there was NO taste to it. I then requested a double portion of crab cakes, but no sauce was served with it. CHIC was the #1 LOUSY place to dine. Jamie's Italian Restaurant---fee charged per person---was not what I expected from an named ITALIAN restaurant. I won't go any further....]

The room steward RICO SY and the Diamond Concierge--Maureen Wang were superb. They knew what their jobs were and they were very profession AND friendly in performing their duties.
