Great get away
Great get away. Went early and stayed in San Juan. Cruise was great. Unfortunately there was a group of about 500. They sometimes thought they were a priority but nothing serious. I have cruised on the Summit five times and I would go again. I love the size of the ship as everything is convenient and not crowded. Sure it might be a little dated but the service is 5 star and so is the food. The Southern Caribbean islands are always exciting and beautiful. I especially enjoyed St. Maarten/St. Martin and Antigua. Beautiful beaches and a lot to see and do. If in St. Maarten take a cab to Serafina's in Marigot and grab a sandwich and/or French pastry, Baguettes are not to be missed. Ham and cheese on a baguette is my favorite.
November 2016 - 7 Night Western Caribbean (Miami Roundtrip) Cruise on Celebrity Reflection
Reflection
We cruised on Nov 5 out of Miami. Unfortunately embarkation was far from for the usual Celebrity experience. The ship arrived that morning from it's transatlantic passage and needed to undergo the normal US inspections. Not the first time they have had to do this but check in was delayed with long lines and after you did manage to check in you couldn't board the ship. They offered shuttles to a nearby mall or escorted you outside the terminal to wait. Not a good experience and as I said early not the usual Celebrity experience. The time changed that first night and the ship didn't turn clocks/schedule back. People showed up for breakfast in Blu only to be turned away as they were closed. They should arrive in port the evening before in order to complete all of the necessary inspections so that the passengers on the first cruise out on the new itinerary aren't treated so poorly at check in. After things got straightened out we had a great cruise. Great food, great entertainment, great time.
May 2016 - 7 Night Bermuda (Cape Liberty Roundtrip) Cruise on Celebrity Summit
Great cruise
This cruise is easy access for folks from the northeast. Parking at the Bayonne Terminal is reasonable and right near the ship. You can drop off luggage and then just park. The ship is not a "mega" ship and just the right size. Yes it is a little dated in spots but you really need to look to find those spots. Everything is convenient on this ship because it isn't a "mega" ship. Food is exceptional. Staff is friendly and can't do enough to please you. Entertainment is fun and enjoyable. We have been on this ship four times and booked another cruise on the Summit out of San Juan.

Cruise tips
Didn’t port due to winds but we’ve been there before and always enjoy it.
Celebrity Equinox
Relax and enjoy.
Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey
Since we are from NJ it’s easy to drive and park. Vacation starts when we turn off the engine.
If you like beaches make sure you go to St George’s and snorkel in Tobacco Bay. Brief walk from the ferry dock. Make sure you go to Horseshoe Bay. You can grab a taxi at the Dockyard. A ride in the multi person van is only $7 per person each way.
Celebrity Summit
Visit Cafe’ al Bacio on Deck 5.
Did a jeep adventure and went snorkeling and had lunch at the beach. Booked on our own
Just walked around the port
We did a pub crawl.
Celebrity Edge
Be prepared for great food, exceptional service and a lot of modern touches.
We just took a cab to Calico Jack's and rented loungers and an umbrella. Water was gorgeous.
Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida
We went to Fort Lauderdale two days early so that we could go to the Everglades. Great time
We took a 4 x 4 tour which was fun and took us to many interesting places.
Highly recommend visiting Lindos. Yes, there are about 300 steps up to the Acropolis but so worth it.
Visit Taormina. Beautiful town with lots of shops and good food.
Visited the beach. Some garbage on the beach and no one seemed to care. We had no problem getting a lounge and an umbrella. Black sand is beautiful but very surprised no one picked up the garbage. The streets in town also were littered with some garbage.
Loved the beach. Water was a bit chilly and lots of people selling things but overall lovely day relaxing by the Aegean Sea.
We had torrential rains and heavy winds but visiting the Acropolis was none the less thrilling. Allow time to explore. We were a bit rushed due to the rain but that didn't stop us from climbing to the top.
Spent four days in Rome prior to the cruise. Fantastic time and great food. There are a lot of lines to visit the Vatican so be prepared. If you are going to the Vatican Museum get a skip the line tour.
Hiked Mt. Vesuvius which is strenuous. Amazing views of Naples and the crater. Then we visited Pompeii which is like no other place on earth.

Relax and Enjoy
Took a tour of the island and then went to a resort to swim and snorkel. Make sure you do some snorkeling in Bonaire. Best snorkeling we have ever done. Most fish and most diverse fish we have ever seen snorkeling. Fantastic.
Went to 7 mile beach (actually it's smaller). Nice beach
We took a taxi to the aquarium and snorkeled with the stingrays, tarpan, etc and feed sharkes and turtles Ocean Encounters. Great experience.
We did an ATV tour to the Natural Bridge and Natural Pool. We booked this independent of the cruise. We needed the dip in the Natural Pool to get the dust off!
Took a shuttle to Red Stripe Beach. Nice little beach. Chairs for rental and water was so warm. No venders on the beach so it was peaceful and relaxing. Of course we had a Red Stripe Beer.
We have taken this ruise about 6 times in the last 20 years. Originally docked in Hamilton and St. Georges but King's Wharf, although a bit away from the action, is a good substitute. We always go to Horseshoe Bay and hook up with a catamarran and snorkel. We have indepently booked and taken the Restless Native the last few trips and always have a great time. Board right in the cruise port. Zander does a great job and it is appropriate for all ages.
Celebrity Summit
Get ready for great fun, delicious food and pampering from the staff. You will not be disappointed. Captain Alex and his staff is out and about interacting with the quests.
Took a private jeep tour. Great time. The guys loved driving the jeeps. Great snorkling.
Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)
Plenty of beach chairs. Water is a little choppy but great place to relax. Nice to have the ship/s crew BBQ and serve food. More than one spot to get food so no lines and no crowds. Great place.
Was looking forward to the Stingray adventure but the wind cancelled that portion of our excursion. Turtle farm was informative and who can resist watching them in the water and/or holding them.
Celebrity Reflection
Music and dancing in the Foyer every evening. Something for every age.
Celebrity Summit
In Bermuda hop a cab to Horseshoe Bay. Go early so it isn't crowded. Cabs drop you off at the bottom of the hill and pick up there to take you back to the ship. St. George is just a water taxi ride away. There is a small train tour, horse and carriage tour or just get a cab for a tour
