Excellent Cruise/Cruise Ship by jammorgan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Joy / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Partial Panama Canal trip lets you experience it without transiting completely through. Experience the three locks into the lake. Had a great time!

It was fine. by critter48658

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Joy

While we had a great time and enjoyed most of our cruise (I think your cruise is what you make it) I think we would go with Royal Caribbean next time. We just like the service we receive from them better. But we also like having the same waiter every time, so if you like the freestyle dining Norwegian might be for you.

anniversary panama canal cruise by sondra99999

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Joy / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

this was to be a special once in a lifetime cruise. We did have a great cruise even thought we had many issues with our dinners and excursions. many of the onboard activities were shut down at weird times or not open at all. service in certain areas was hit or miss. the ship was very disorganised and we had charges on our account that were not ours. I'm not sure we would cruise norwegian again. the most popular spot on the ship often closed early. the last several days we were served our food and everything was removed from tables and washy washy. i do not understand the paper straw policy when they serve your drinks in plastic glasses and you can get plastic straws at starbucks. they ran out of some of the fruits very early in cruise and did not get any replenishments for them. as we were further in the cruise food and service diminished greatly. there were only 2 small smoking areas on the ship of 4500 and about 500 people would crowd into the area. they shut down those areas during fueling(i understand completely why) but offered nowhere else to smoke except for off the ship which you could not do unless paying for a shuttle in many ports. this Cruise was geared to wards the senior crowd as most people were over 70 years old. we had at least 3 medical emergencies and one day at sea was cut short so we could get to the next port to get the person off but the rest of us had to stay on the ship in the port, another port we had 2 emergencies one when we first arrived and then as we were leaving the port we had to turn around to get someone else off the ship . as i stated earlier i'm not sure we would cruise with this line again. we expected much more based on a previous cruise with the same line

Fell short of a bucket list crusie. by GypsyPirate

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Joy / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

This was a one time trip for us due to cost and time. Very disappointed in itinerary changes and even more frustraed that there was no communication from NCL to notify us of them. We won't use NCL again unless it is a last minute deal and we don't care where we go. The cruise itself was good but didn't meet our expectations for a bucket list cruise. Which we picked very carefully. I imagine that the all mighty dollar was the reason behind many of the changes.

Panama Canal transit by DALPAL

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Joy

We had a very enjoyable time. The average of the cruisers was 67 so it was definitely an older crowd. We were impressed with the medical actions taken to assist people who became ill during the cruiser. At least 6 ambulances came to the ship to take people for medical attention.

Great cruise! Horrible ship by NortherKel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Joy / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

This was the second time we have done this cruise. We were on a different, smaller ship last year and if we did it again, i will definitely go with a smaller ship!

Ports were wonderful by coleenfriedrich

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Joy / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Ports were great. Ship was not. Food was fair. Service was poor. Another GI issue so we weren’t able to access any food related items for ourselves. Didn’t have sensors on the door so everyone was touching the buttons to open them. People were getting stuck in the slide. Had to pay for some of the activities. No lobster dinner. Had to ask for toiletries. Won’t do Norwegian again.

Great cruise, bad app & food service by gymstone

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Joy

Cruise itself was great. Some of the ports are scary and or dirty. Reservation system was a complete failure for us along with the use of their NCL app.

We wanted "WOW" but left with just "OK" by hathair2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Joy / Destination: Mexico

We had been talking about a cruise for years and decided to give it a try and see if it was for us, it was not. We stayed in a Haven Aft suite and the room was spectacular, our Steward and Butler were wonderful and after a few days of dealing with the crowds we either stayed in our room or in the Haven proper exclusively. The crew in the Haven were mostly friendly, the crew we dealt with outside of the Haven seemed less than happy. We ate mostly in the Haven restaurant and it was good, not great but good. Cagney's was outstanding, La Cucina was just OK and the American Dinner for lunch was above average. Footloose was very entertaining and Elements was nice but not something that we would sit through again. Disembarkation will unfortunately be the last and most memorable part of our cruise and it is NOT a good memory. The complete lack of communication from the crew/officers to guests was amazing. My wife was pulled out of line, without explanation to her or myself and taken to guest services because NCL owed us $41 that apparently they are unable to credit back to our account like every other business is able to in 2020, who knew. This 30 minute delay along with the 1 1/2 hour delay before disembarkation started translated to missing our 1PM flight home and as I said, this will be the lasting memory of the cruise to me. To be honest, I just don't think we are cruise people, with or without the disembarkation problem. I'm glad we did it but were unlikely to do it again.

You could better invest in your vacation by dramsrt10

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Joy / Destination: Mexico

The cruise director was ill-prepared for the cool weather, and, having been on several other cruises, the potential was incredible. The execution was subpar. In short, my recommendation would be to find ANY cruise out of a different sort, and you might consider another brand. I will likely not sail on Norwegian again

NCL Joy to Cabo by alberta41

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Joy / Destination: Mexico

I would do this ship again in a heartbeat. Loved everything about it, the ports, the ship, the food, the beverages, the crew. Everyone is so helpful and there to make sure you have the best experience. Just an amazing time. It was our 7th cruise but our first with NCL. Love NCL so much that we are booked on a Caribbean cruise for next year.

First time on the Joy by emilykk

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Joy

This was my 4th cruise and my first that was not on the Jewel. I was hesitant about the larger ship and the number or passengers but was pleasantly surprised about the number of times I forgot how many people were on the ship.

Our first cruise! We enjoyed most of it. by nattygan78

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Joy

It was a great first cruise. Our excursion in Cabo was changed, but they refunded us. We took a water taxi to lovers beach and had a great time for only $30! Ensenada we did some shopping, but the vendors were aggressive. We won’t get off the ship for Ensenada next time

A trip too remember by Bdonkey13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Joy

My husband and I have been on three other cruises together and we both agree this was the best. But I am also a strong believer in you have as good of a time as you want to have. Was the cruise and everything about it perfect? Absolutely not. Did things go wrong? Absolutely. But we chose not to sweat the small stuff or even the medium stuff. And we had an awesome vacation!

Ode to Joy: this ship has something for everyone, with great and friendly staff, outstanding food and entertainment, and some wonderfully peaceful spaces. by chipgraves

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Joy / Destination: Mexico

You can have any type of cruise you want and switch between a refined experience in the Observation Lounge and adrenaline rush on the water slides ( or racetrack.) The ship is comfortable, manageable, and with relentlessly cheerful service. There Is good entertainment for all ages and many interests. The food is better than on most ships with some beautiful dining rooms. In a nutshell: The Joy is a very good ship and I recommend it to anyone who can navigate a large ship.

7 day to Mexican Riviera on Joy by IBcruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Joy

Overall a nice cruise. Ran out of patience with the cabin steward, and the cabin was not configured in a way to maximize the small space. I really enjoyed The Vibe deck, would recommend. The food in the main dining rooms was very good. The buffet didn’t have much variety.

Great overall, some situational bumps. by lassira

Overall had fun. We were on a deck above loud music and struggled to entertain our young child but I dont regret the trip and would cruise again with maybe more research and older kids.
