Finally I have got time to write my comments. I took HAL (Holland America) to Alaska depart and arrive at Vancouver back in 2013. Services, food and show planning were great and I will give 9.0 out of 10. However, I took the Norwegian to Bahamas from NYK was not as good as HAL.

My travel companion was a smoker so they had a place to smoke their cigarettes. If they didn't have that option, they wouldn't have gone. The ship met all my needs. The dining and entertainment was all that I desired .

The casino needed some improvements as the buttons on many of the poker machines stuck causing loss of money if you weren't paying attention.

Cigar smoke is not contained well in the designated room. Fun deck party with ship's captain and others performing with the band.

The chairs throughout the ship were very uncomfortable. The chairs in the Stardust Lounge were extremely bad.They seemed to tilt forward which felt like you were going roll out of the chair. They were also hard on the backside after about 15 minutes.

Book excursions and reservations at the specialty restaurants before your cruise. We have never come across this before, on our other cruises we have always booked our excursions on board.

Should be a no smoking ship. Not an outstanding duty free shop. Saving the tax on the limited items is about all you save.

Attend all of the Broadway style shows, they are fantastic!

If you want to do anything (eat, see a show, etc) you have to get there extra early to get a seat. There is not nearly enough seating for everyone.

Decor of the ship was pretty bland.

Chairs in lounge outside Le Bistro are arranged in groups of four around a cocktail table. Every night, people had to turn and move the heavychairs to listen to piano performer. If a couple sits in a cluster, two chairs remain unused. Perhaps chairs can be arranged in groups of two and some in four.

Seating area at buffet was inadequate. More painting classes could be offered. Non denominational church service or gospel sing in chapel on Sundays. The smoke was so bad in the casino when we walked through that we couldn't have stayed. I can understand paying for alcohol drinks, but cokes?

If your are Hispanic and like to dance this is not the cruise line for you. Norwegian is American oriented the music is not for the Hispanics that enjoy to dance while cruising.

Deck 7 is great for walking (2 and 2/3 laps equals 1 mile). However, this is also a deck available for smokers. Fortunately it is very well ventilated, open to the sea breeze, so it didn't stop us from walking the deck. This is a great way to burn off the extra calories that are consumed aboard.
