When do you pack?

Out of pure excitement, how soon do you start packing? I'm a well known over packer and over thinker so I start about a month before hand. Clothes go in and out and by the time the trip comes, I know I'm positive about my choices. I have a neighbor that starts 3 months in advance and a co worker who packs the night before. Where are you all on that time line?

Two weeks prior to the cruise. We always make a list to follow.

No set time. Depends on the season and excitement level. Some things will start to stage for packing a month or so before if they are not being used but the serious packing and staging usually a week in advance with the real packing done 2 days before.

You'd think after doing so many times we have it down to a science...but frankly, its part of the fun process...we keep trying to bring less, y'know, less is more etc etc, but...we fail...we start actually packing a day or two b4...no biggie...the trick is to lay it all out in one of the spare bedrooms. so you can eyeball it at your leisure. B4 it gets actually put into the suitcases. Haven't had to rush out the store to buy something specifically for a cruise in years...everything we think we need is around here....someplace. heheheh

Actually putting things into the suitcase, the day before.

I usually start about a month ahead of my cruise. I pack the underthings first and get that out of the way. Then about a week out I pack my everyday clothes and the night before I leave home for my cruise I pack my evening wear. This seems to work pretty well for me.

The actual packing starts about 3 weeks out, and the luggage comes down from the attic 10 days prior

I'm 3 months out... and I already have my luggage out. My excitement cannot be contained.

I don't. Wife won't let me. :)

Same here. But I get chewed out for not helping none-the-less. If I do stick my nose in and do some packing I get chewed on even more, no win. Reminds me of the sign on the shop wall: "Hourly rate $45.00 per hour, If you watch $55.00 per hour, If you help $75.00 per hour.

Allow me to be frank..WE start packing 3 weeks out, meaning I do all the heavy lifting and laundry, and she decides what we're taking. Big Smile
