When do you pack?

Out of pure excitement, how soon do you start packing? I'm a well known over packer and over thinker so I start about a month before hand. Clothes go in and out and by the time the trip comes, I know I'm positive about my choices. I have a neighbor that starts 3 months in advance and a co worker who packs the night before. Where are you all on that time line?

Normally get wrapped up about 2 or 3 days out. Only 15 days now until this familiar vision will be ready to go. I carry a lot of camera gear, and it takes more time to get that all sorted than clothing, I think. The Osprey bag is good enough for 5-7 day cruises. Anything over 10, the big case comes out.

HMMMMMMM....there seem to be some truly universal truths being expressed here, that actually have very little to do with packing for a cruise...nuff said....

I have an excel spreadsheet that I update for each cruise with the specific days, divided between day wear and evening wear. I even linked it so that anything I put in the itinerary view automatically gets put onto “the list” view. This way, I can modify the spreadsheet over a few weeks, then I can print the master list on the day before my cruise and actually put clothes in the packing cubes for the suitcase(s). I know, it’s anal, but I’ve always been a planner!

I pack for any trip as soon as we book it! I get way too excited, and it puts my mind at ease, knowing I didn't forget anything...... Oh, and I always over pack, too. I vow every trip it won't happen again, but who am I kidding?

I have a packing list I go by, and that has made packing easier for me.

WOW!!! I am so impressed!

We live in a tropical climate in Australia & have an Alaskan cruise next May(yes 2020) & already have bought rain jackets and warm jackets which are on the bed in the spare roomHappy

My sister and I are going on the Sky Princess in April 2020. We've already started our packing lists so we can fine tune them as we get closer to our sail date. We have been emailing back and forth as we are not only in two different cities but two different states. Once we have our lists finalized we will pack a couple of days before flying to Fort Lauderdale. It's been fun planning this with her.

One of the many reasons I’m still single. No thanks, don’t want to get treated like that everyday.

Nowadays I pack a week before.

Two months or so before sailing date I put a plastic tub in my guest bedroom so that I can start putting little stuff in there as I buy. For example my clothes pins to keep beach towels on chairs, extra headphones, bathing suit I had to have, etc.. then a week before I take the suitcases out of attic and start :)

I have one suitcase that always has Cruise Supplies in it. Example: Over door shoe holder, clothes pins, air freshner etc. I keep certain Cruise clothes ( sequin, dressy clothes all together in one closet), since we are empty nesters and have extra closet room. I have a tendency to over pack and am trying to cut back now that my DH is in w/c & i am responsible for toting luggage. Usually make sure all clothes to be packed are clean at least 7 days out. Start laying or hanging clothes in spare bedroom to be packed by 5 days out. Since i use the Roll Method when packing clothes I usually wait until day before so as not to get to many wrinkles as possible. Trying to get everything into 1 big suitcase and garment bag with only 1 carry on bag for our Cruise in 26 days. Wish Me Luck !?
