When do you pack?

Out of pure excitement, how soon do you start packing? I'm a well known over packer and over thinker so I start about a month before hand. Clothes go in and out and by the time the trip comes, I know I'm positive about my choices. I have a neighbor that starts 3 months in advance and a co worker who packs the night before. Where are you all on that time line?

Consider packing, planning for packing, pre-packing, etc. a form of feeding the addiction ... sort of like participating on the board ... keeps the cruise always alive and in the forefront.

I oack the night before. I pack extra light, do laundry on long trips and if I need anything I buy it along the way.

Same here. I keep everything in the same Excel document and copy a new spreadsheet for a new trip. Then it gets used as my checklist and I highlight cells as items make their way into my suitcase. I typically start packing a day or two before I leave.

My packing routine is the same for any trip not just cruising, it's probably the only time I don't procrastinate to the last minute Big Smile

We book as far in advance as the published schedules allow which causes our cruise packing planning to overlap. So, for us, not only is packing the beginning of enjoying the cruise, but planning the packing is like anticipating gifts of enjoyment on the nights before Christmas. Based on this blog, even blogging about packing seems to be part of the fun of cruising too. Happy

A kindred spirit...that's exactly when we book as well. seems like were always looking forward to one or more. can't take it with you!

The most recent cruise I started setting clothes aside about a week before and packed the suitcase Wednesday evening when we were leaving early Saturday. I had a few things to add Friday night that I either forgot or was still using.

My trip is tomorrow but I’m staying in Seattle over night.

I packed two weeks ago but been pulling things out. Even today just before I left to come up, I reviewed my bag and pulled a couple things out.

We have a spare room. In that room are two suitcases. Once we decide on the trip, we start packing. Right now, we are going on a 7 day Mexico cruise on the Royal at the end of January. The swim suits, snorkel equipment and formal wear is all packed. Dress shoes are wrapped and ready. Casual wear is hanging in the closet above the cases. We can be ready in 10 minutes----We affectionately call them our go bags.

We start watching weather patterns 3 weeks out and starting making our pack list. We usually start laying out our outfits shortly after and the big trip to Target for travel minis and Lysol wipes is to follow. Then we start filling our suitcases and then we argue about who is overpacking Wink
