Self booking Vs Using a Travel Agent

Hello fellow cruise addicts. I turn to you once again for your guidance advise and a general poll. How many of you use and/or find it easier using a travel agent compared to yourself booking all the parts of the cruise?

I'm exploring my next cruise and my head started spinning once I started to look into the different flights, hotels and planning and price comparisons to figure out which is the best bang for our buck. Just curious how many use a travel agent. Although I have cruised before, each time, someone else has done all the planning, and I was along for the ride. My props to you self planners....

I think mine works from inside an iron lung

Surely a different one -- mine sounds very pleasant and seems excited about my cruise - very efficient and easy to get along with.

Doubtful.

there must be a thousand agents that book cruises. But hey, anything is possible. Does yours sound like she smoked for 50 years and has only remnants of a voice box ? Ugh, I always imagine her placing a cigarette up to the hole in her throat and inhaling.

I think we use the same agent. I think it was a former member here that pointed them out to me.

I highly recommend our travel agent. She seems very knowledgeable. Although, Punxatawney Phil knows more about cruising than I do so what can I say. I figured if she doesn’t recommend the Titanic or the Lusitania she knows her business.

My first cruise we used a travel agent. We have another cruise coming up in May and we have used a travel agent again. My wife has AAA so we go through them on all of our trips. Makes it easier to get everything set up.

We booked our October cruise with an agent. A very nice husband and wife team I think live in Florida. I just started to get confused by all the ships, destinations, and cabin categories. However, our air and hotel were booked direct with those entities.

For the most part, I use a travel agent.

This is my 6th cruise in August. I have always booked myself with the CCL website. Its very easy.

Like most repliers, I book our own with the cruise line directly. Tried a TA once and after about 15-20 minutes of talking to her Manager was able to get me a $25 OBC. Not worth the extra time IMO. Since I am more 'cabin selective' versus 'price selective' I book early. Like most here, if the price drops prior to my final payment, I call the Cruise Line and receive an adjustment. I miss the big price drop which usually occurs a few days after final payments are due for the early bookings, but we have our nice cabin and are happy.

P.S. I highly encourage everyone to use the Price Alert feature here on CruiseLine.com. Realizing the numbers are just a 'snap-shot in time' my next booked cruise is currently 26 % higher, and the second booked cruise is 2% higher. Interesting to follow these trends as I am still learning, and listening, to other posters on this site. An Ocean of knowledge is here for our benefit.
