Making Memories by sjwilliams

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We have been on 22 cruises and this was at the top of the list for a great adventure. Would return with the same ship and itenary. Remember the livelihood of all these islands are dependent on tourism. If you just say no thank you and move on the people do not bother you. I always try to buy from the street vendors as they are trying to make a living just like the rest of us.

Nice vacation by Candice1172

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Overall it was a good vacation. But for a 10 day cruise the activities onboard were very limited and the port of Martinique was not welcoming. The people were unfriendly and they would not accept US currency.

RCL just can't seem to get it right. by Kirby318

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We think that the service levels on Serenade was poor. Very few waiters ever approached us, so we had to go to bars for a drink. Waiters never came around with coffee/tea in the Windjammer during meals. There was no help in the Windjammer for the disabled. Food in Windjammer is mediocre, unless you like Indian Food; that was good. Eat your main meals in the Reflections Restaurant. The food was generally good but I've had better.

Total Caribbean Relaxation by FamilyCrusin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The most relaxing, fun-filled, non-stressful cruise I have ever taken. Captain maneuvered the boat with perfection and kept us up-to-date on all details.

We had a great time, but Royal was lacking in some important areas. by gscottconsultin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We had a good time. We cruise a lot with Carnival and like them more than we did Royal. In particular we find that Carnival management staff in the casino is much more friendly, more likely to spring for a drink for customers, or even some goodies sent to the room. Disappointed with Royal doing none of the above though we were in the casino nine out of ten nights. One of us found the food choices to be lacking. Otherwise the boat was great, good stops, we had a good time.

Serenade comes through with an outstanding cruise by lanceb333

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

A clean, comfortable ship that has been well maintained. The staff provided excellent service, the food was much better than expected, and the itinerary was interesting. We lost St. Kitts and went to Martinique instead which we missed but understand the change. The Captain of the ship was everywhere it seemed and interacted with the guest on a regular basis. A cruise ship and itinerary that we would gladly take again.

Substandard Cruise Line by fritzremail

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Lot of complaining on this cruise, but I still say there's no such thing as a BAD cruise. Still typing because I need at least 150 characters. There.

Great Cruise! by dtchs

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a wonderful time on this cruise. We got a very low fare for a balcony room and were very pleased with everything. Their staff is their best asset, though. Excellent!

We had a great time! We loved everything we experienced. The Serenade was beautiful, 13 floors of fun. We will definitely be going on another Royal Carribean Cruise

Unpleasant experience by keylargo1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

* When booking, it tells me paid in full... all included and they only need a credit card, in case I make a purchase on board. Last day, I got slapped with a bill, charging me with a service fee for every person in my party.. including for my 4 year old boy, even you promote "kids are free" $ 13.50 a day for a 4 year old = robbery. * Tables / chairs, filthy.. had to clean them myself, after they where "cleaned" the dirt was just swept of the table on to the chairs, very sticky table edges. * Dinner, would be ok... but we where seated with "Burka" wearing people, very unpleasant situation... a lot of people looking at us. After, I called the guest service, to change the table, restaurant or time... they simply said no, basically telling me, what I got is what I get, not even tried to help. We did not go back for dinner. Sad, we brought clothes to dress up to a pleasant dinner in style, instead we got to eat buffet with people in shorts and beach wear. * Take my boy on to the water slide, we where moving very slow, even I helped to move a bit faster... in the last curve, we got rear-ended by a very large woman coming fast down the slope, it slammed my boy in to the slope and then under the water, where he got water in his mouth and nose. Me, I had swollen fingers on my right hand for the entire cruise. When it happened, it was already a scene and I did not want to make it any bigger, I was concerned for my boy and tried to comfort him, after this... he was terrified to go near the pool. This are some of the reasons, why I give a big -0-

Fantastic Transitioning Cruise! by roxbits

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group

Loved the time at sea. We will do more transitioning cruises. I need to thank my United Cruise Planner, Jeremy (I call him Batman, he's superman) and the staff on the ship - they were fantastic!

Long Awaited Cruise by happy4you50

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

I put this cruise off for a while. Now that I've taken it, it was well worth it. I highly recommend it. Bring warm clothes. The temp changes unexpectedly.

Excellent Atlantic NE cruise by marybussey

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

RCL DID A FABULOUS JOB . THE PORTS OF CALL WERE VERY WARM AND FRIENDLY AND GAVE THE TRAVELER A TRUE FEELING OF THE CULTURE. THE TOUR GUIDES WERE VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE. THE CREW OF THE SHIP WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND TO MAKE ALL THE GUEST FELL SPECIAL. DEFINATELY WOULD RECOMMEND THIS CRUISE.

Overall, a disappointment. by dickb8987

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

An ok experience but it could have been much better. A ship similar to Liberty of the Seas would have made it much better. As mentioned, some areas near staterooms were very noisy.

It was okay. by janethurley1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

At the end of the day, I believe we would do it again. In the future we will consider planning some kind of excursions. At lease get off the boat to have lobster. The big item I love about this ship is the Solarium ... it's one of my favorite places to hangout.

relaxing cruise by susyrn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

loved our cruise experience EXCEPT for an excursion to Cadillac Mountain in Acadia Nat'l park. This excursion should have been cancelled due to the fog. Instead, we went up this mountain, saw nothing since visibility was zero. In fact, we almost had a collision with another bus coming down the mountain as we climbed the mountain twice! When we complained to the shoreex desk after the excursion, we were told that Serenade had no responsibility here. It was the responsibility of the excursion company. Amazing to us that Serenade did not step in and cancel the excursion refunding out money. NOT!!! Do they mean to say that the safety of their passengers is up to the excursion company only??
