get the Thermal Suite package on the first day! it averages out to about $14/day per person which is absolutely worth it. Also, we really enjoyed the Evening Stretch class provided in the gym which was free & as challenging or as relaxing as you choose to participate.
Remember it's YOUR vacation, just because the ship is at port doesn't me you HAVE TO get off the boat. Do what works for you, if your 'my time' dining doesn't work, then change it. If service is bad, SAY SOMETHING to a manager. And if someone is great, recognise them. :)
When picking your stateroom, make sure there are no public areas above it . Deck 10 is where most of the suites are but unfortunately Deck 11 is where the pool, Windjammer, Park Cafe, the Solarium and the Spa are located. If you are a light sleeper, you'll be able to hear all the movements at night
While the Ultimate Beverage package is expensive at $55/day/pp, if you like to drink, including fresh-squeezed OJ, champagne, and lattes, it is a good deal compared to the high per drink prices.
Make sure you go to the diningroom in the evening. Food and service are excellent and you get to share your day on board or at port with those at your table. Great conversation and relaxing slow down time for social exchanges. You learn about those at your table and become friends by weeks end.
The Serenity area for adults only was beautiful and very relaxing!
We did one of the spa packages and was very pleased with the quality of service and the price.
Get the drink card. They have lots of packages. Easy to use and well worth the money. We got the basic card, soft drinks etc since my hubby and I are not huge drinkers but we were able to get all our lattes, sodas, virgin drinks etc and we just paid a little additional for a glass of wine.
Do the Mystery dinner. It was fun and the food was really good!
The vitality staff was vey good to work with.
Avoid the main dining room on the first night (Food gets better from day 2), also book your stateroom towards the middle of the ship.
Fixed dining time worked great for us since we had kids and didnt want to wait.
If you are on My Time dining and a couple who wants some privacy, ask for a table along the rail.
Don't rush to be seated for dinner - there's always enough and they serve dinners relatively close to each other, so you wouldn't have to wait long!
If you like to have wine with your formal meals, take advantage of the ability to each take a bottle onboard. The dining room staff will tag and store any unfinished bottles each evening. Otherwise, expect to pay $11 on average per glass plus gratuity.
The online water package description was miss leading. I read it to mean $39 a day, so I did not buy. If I had understood that the $39 was a one time fee for a supply delivery of water to room, I would buy.
Purchase the Premium Beverage Package if you enjoy cocktails, as each mixed drink costs a minimum of $10 plus 18% tip. Wine by the glass is included for selections $12 or less, as well as soda. It was well worth it for us. Specialty dining package was offered for $70 each for 3 sittings.
Enjoyed the morning exercise classes and the wine tasting classes.
The Solarium was a quiet serene place to hang out and read. They also have a nice deli that offers something different from Windjammer. Ordering pre-dinner room service cheese plate and artichoke dip is always complimentary. Level 12 aft was a quiet sunning spot on sea days.
Its really fun to go to the solarium when its empty and use that pool because it is so relaxing and just like your own private wavepool!
