Review summary

Lot of complaining on this cruise, but I still say there's no such thing as a BAD cruise. Still typing because I need at least 150 characters. There.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very quick and efficient out of Ft Lauderdale

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Poor location of table (#215) in main dining room - close to a waiter station and not much room around the table, so continuous flurry of bodies zipping by as the waiters hurried to get the food out and then picked up, often times bumping into our table or chairs. Ended up skipping the main dining room for dinner to eat at the upper deck cafeteria.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Overall seemed substandard to what I've seen/been used to. However, cudos to having a LIVE band.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Overall, people were extremely friendly and willing to help.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Serenade of the Seas (German design) has 2 stairway/elevator locations - one in front and one slightly behind mid way. Those of us who had cabins toward the aft of the ship had a long hallway walk just to reach the mid-ship location.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Cleanliness not a problem. What was was the cabin was devoid of any amenities. First day I requested a bottle of body lotion and was told by cabin attendant, cabin services, and finally a crew member that I didn't have enough "points" to qualify for a free body lotion (wife's body lotion was taken away by airport TSA - we failed the 3.2 oz rule). Apparently corporate made the decision last year to save money (also cut out those expensive paper napkins you used to get when ordering a drink from the bar). What frustrated me was Royal Carib's website won't tell you you need to bring your own amenities.

Ship tip

I'd say skip the ship and skip Royal Carib. They've gone downhill from last year when we cruised on a much newer Anthem of the Seas. Don't know if cutbacks are system wide or just for the older, smaller ships.

Ports of call

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

Still beat up from hurricanes. I think they need the cruise ship dollars to help their recovery so didn't mind going.

Castries, St. Lucia

Bridgetown, Barbados

Did an island tour but it rained all day. Also, Rihanna was in town getting a road named after her and it prevented seeing part of the tour.

St. John's, Antigua

Disembarkation

I went last year on this cruise. There was not much night life. But they had good entertainment and food was good. It's a smaller ship not real croweded. Going back on this ship in two months. Taking some party people with us this time. Only complaint I hope they don't lock the ice cream machine up this time lol
