Not only did we cruise, spent 5 extra days in Seattle, really enjoy our visit to Seattle, Boeing Tour, Space Needle and Columbia Building Observation floor are must visits. The NCL Pearl is a great ship, very clean and the staff was above expectations. Great selections of restaurants and food choices were good. We tried one Specailty  Restaurant, Teppanyaki, excellent, Summer Place was our favorite overall restaurant. Service in all restruants was very good. Overall the staff of the Pearl make us feel welcome, best cruise ship staff we never had.

Pearl Alaskan Cruise by gqjefferson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Norwegian cruise line is the only cruise line I will ever cruise with again, the ship was fantastic and the crew were amazingly friendly even though it was so late in the season. The only draw back was the weather was extremely rainy (again late in the season) and we didn't have enough time in Victoria, BC. Other then that I highly recommend this cruise. Go with the Pearl also the staff genuinely care about the quest.

Great Overall, but Customer Service Was NOT up to par. Think cuz only 3 Weeks Left in the Season. by catherinekom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Like I said above, the trip itself we give a 4.  Alaska is so beautiful.  They food was great (when you finally got it).  Buffets were awesome. The excursions were super fun.  Nice People.  Where it was really lacking compared to all the other cruises I've been on was with the restaurant staff, bartenders casino dealers and retail staff too.  The food servers were so... slow and honestly just unfriendly.

My thinking is that it was likely because they were just done with the Alaska cruise season. We went the 3rd to the last week of the season.  They hardly smiled.  UNBELIEVABLY slow service and they just seemed like us being there was an annoyance.  I don't mean all of them, that would not be fair, but like 70% of them clearly did not want to be there.  Same with the retailers in the towns in Alaska.  They seemed annoyed we were there too.  Strange.

The guy that cleaned our room was awesome.  The girls that sprayed our hands clean all over the ship were fun.  The spa staff was just fantastic.

So my advice.. don't go in September or October if you care about that stuff.  My guess is I would have given 5 stars any other month.

Happy Cruising.

A Very Relaxing Experience by rkconsult

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This cruise on the NCL Pearl was the perfect opportunity to relax and recharge ones batteries after multiple fast pace activities and projects conducted during the summer.  The Pearl crew was friendly and ready to please.  The food was plentiful, excellent and easy to access.  The cabin was comfortable and provided for restful sleep each night and the occasional afternoon nap.  The sights of Alaska were amazing!

Food cleaness and quality is the problem` by vubao

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The whole family hit stomach flu after coming back from the cruise. We landed on Sunday. Monday noon, my wife hit stomach flu and through up a lot. Tuesday morning, my youngest one hit it. Wed noon, my second son got it. Wed night, my oldest daughter starts stomach flu. And Thursday noon, I am down also.

It is the worst experience I ever got in life with cruise. It seems NCL needs to revisit their chefs. They seems not keeping clean. I see they fry food and reuse the pan for multiple people without clean. It is the worst.

I have been cruising with Carnival for multiple times (over 10 cruises) and never have this issue.

Alaska Cruise by drickbush

We had a great time on our cruise.  It was the first time we went on a free style cruise and enjoyed it very much.  The whole cruise went as planned and we could not have asked for a better experience.  The crew was very attentive and the people who cleaned out room was very friendly and attentive.  Special thanks to the "Washy-Washy" young lady on our cruise.  Thanks for the help you provided.

Nice relaxing trip by nwlady59

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Overall, it was a good experience. I would only get the balcony or above. It is totally worth being able to go out and take pictures, sit out there in the private area and enjoy the scenery. It was nice to hear the waves and get the fresh air when ever it felt stuffy. TV could be a bit bigger. The cabins were very quiet and insulated.

GOOD OR BAD CRUISE. ,! by lstilly

CRUISE ON NORWEIGAN PEARL:👥🐞🐔🐣🐋

Good points, fabulous food, friendly waitstaff, good room stewards, beautiful scenery and good warm weather., very talented performers in the live shows onboard.

Bad Points:  Too crowded, lines too long in the dining room..  Embarkation was like a line of cattle being herded.  Cabin window was blocked, cabin had twin beds, when tried to change, NCL said not their problem, tour booking said, not their problem.

Fun trip by dadmomtannahill

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We had a great time overall. We loved Juneau - the Mendenhall Glacier was spectacular. We took the White Pass Train in Skagway. It was so beautiful! Perfect weather too!  It was foggy in Glacier Bay but did get to see the Glaciers and one mountain goat as well as some tails of whales! It was rainy in Ketchikan but we basically just did some shopping. Rained all the way to Victoria. But cleared after dinner and we took a bus downtown where the shops were open late. So beautiful with all the city lights. The negatives were the smoky smell in the theater so that I (am allergic to cigarette smoke) could not attend but one of the shows. They also charge for the rockwall and the bowling and some other things including a tour of the ship. I felt like we had paid enough to go let alone having to pay for a bunch of other things as well. The dining facilities were most of the time overcrowded especially the Garden Café. There are a lot of things to do onboard and the staff was nice.

Our ALaska Cruise vacation by steveparmley

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The weather was great when we left Seattle.  Then I put my shorts away thinking I would no longer need them.  I was sure wrong !  It was in the mid 70"s in Juneau and then the next day it was in the mid 70"s in Sitka !  Fantastic weather. Glacier bay was beautiful !  Rained all day long in Ketchikan but town was interesting.  Did not go ashore in Victoria as I am still protesting the fact that they still dump raw sewage into the Strait of Jaun de Fuca.  They keep saying they will build a sewage treatment plant, but where is it ?  Too many noisy, unruly, unsupervised kids on cruise.

Good ports and shore excurisons by quinny611

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We traveled with an entire family of 12 adults. The ship was a nicely maintained and overall pretty. There was plenty to do regarding keeping us busy while on board. The last day aboard the ship we were to dock at our last stop 6 pm. There did not seem to be enough to do this day, very little to choose from. Most of us had balcony rooms and I felt that they were a bit smaller than other ships I had been on, although they were comfortable and shower was adequate. The ports we visited and the shore excursions were very good. The two big complaints I had for this line was the food was not very good, there was plenty, but it lacked flavor. With the exception of Lotus Garden we did not have a good meal. The other issue was the staff was not the most pleasant we have found. There were plenty of staff on board who were very friendly, and interested, but most did not seem to care. As soon as we boarded one of our group had an issue with the package details. We asked to see a manager and were told that we would need to wait for a call tomorrow to rectify the issue. When we asked why it would take so long we were answered with " it's a day not a decade". The manager was found and the issue resolved, but did not find this the best way to begin.  The other cruises we have been on we have always found staff to be overly friendly.

We also could not figure out if there was a charge for room service or not, they did not make that very clear.

There did not seem to be many staff who were available to ask questions to.

The trip was a good time by our group, in large part because we were traveling together.

Food Poisoning on the boat. by dreaminofja

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

My wife on Wednesday night got food poisoning.  We had eaten in the Summer Palace that evening; she had had the grilled flounder, baked potato and broccoli.  For an appetizer she had the calamari.  Desert was fruit salad.  Two hours after eating dinner she started vomiting and severe diarreah.  She continue until Wednesday in the afternoon.  We went to the doctor on the ship and he diagnosed (gastrointeritus).  Medicine was prescribed, but my wife had to be quarantined in her room until Friday at 3:30.   This was our 25th Wedding Anniversary.  What a disappointment. The front desk sent to our room Strawberries dipped in chocolate.  What is that all about.  She was sick!!!!!!!!!!

We traveled from Massachusetts to cruise Alaska expecting to have the time of our lives; but that did not happen.

We enjoyed this cruise although I wasn't happy with most of the food and our cabin steward was not very engaging with us...we didn't see her for a couple of days. But other than that it was fine.

Best part was cruising the Glacier Bay and watching from my balcony !!! Awesome ! This was my second cruise and I saw more this time . The food is always good and amazing choices . I only wish the music and dancing started earlier at 8 or 9 pm instead of 10 or 10:30 pm.

Fantastic! by kathyteehee

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The Pearl was beautiful and the staff was the best!  They were always so helpful and really wanted to make you happy.  They were ALWAYS smiling!  Food was good except we had one problem in main dining room (Summer Palace) for breakfast - don't order the eggs benedict.  We sent them back once (hard boiled eggs, hardly any and dried up hollandaise sauce, meat looked grey) and they came back the same way the 2nd time.  The ?manager for the main dining was so nice and apologetic and felt really awful (he looked mortified) so we couldn't really be mad so we just left and went to the buffet!    The itinerary was awesome and the choice of excursions were great!  Very smooth and organized getting off the ship and back on.

Good if you like cruises by jtylervox

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

this is the very first time I ever took a cruise and I thought it would be different.  There was lots of food lots of drinking, shows, and gambling.  However, I really went to see and explore Alaska.  I realize now that the three places we went to could only be reached best by boat so I understand.  I won't go on another cruise again as I am more of a car/ hotel, motel traveler.  However if you like cruises you will enjoy it

Alaska Cruise by sieglindeschnel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

I like the free-style dining experience, especially the free restaurants besides the cafeteria. Guests should be asked if they want to eat by themselves or sit with another couple at a table. The entertainment should be geared for a greater variety of people. The game room and the library are not spacious enough. During our cruise we could not use them - no place. We noticed that there were  quite a few seniors on board. I would suggest not only to offer a "hot" white night but also another type of entertainment e.g. ballroom dancing. We also enjoyed the movies offered, the magician, the strings, the steel drums and the guitar. We would suggest that when people like to sit outside to enjoy nature the volume of the music should be tuned down a bit ( I can be loud but not ear numbing loud). The musical show offered should not be offensive "Madonna" style. You need to consider that there are children in attendance. I would like to be entertained in a nicer way. We also would like to know what the entertainment style will be of the next cruise we might book. A program of what to expect would be appreciated beforehand. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. This was our first cruise experience.

Overall a very wonderful vacation by allanbro

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Aside from some annoyances like the toilet in our room not working and a hair dryer needed to be replaced, we thoroughly enjoyed the cruise.  The food was magnificent and what superlatives can't I say about Alaska.  The musicians were top rate and the shows were better than on cruises I have taken in the past.  First time on Norwegian and I would sail with them again.

Lots of People...Specialty Restaurants the only way! by pward13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This isn't our first cruise, we did learn to buy the food package, well worth it.  Main dining rooms, menu not too appealing, but the Garden Cafe buffet, something for everyone, great choice, just find your table first of course!! This cruise was very busy.  Didn't like no blowing of the horns when leaving ports, never saw that not done.  Shows were good, Comedian Bud Anderson was excellent!!! Watch out for the wine & beer tasting, they come with a bit pricey charge.  Staff was wonderful all around! CGI employee Deepak was the best! Excursions were wonderful....easy on & off ship  Just be aware if you do choose an Alaska cruise, expect lots of people!!!
