Simply put, enjoy it. She’s a beautiful ship that will keep you occupied all week long. So just kick back and relax, the week will fly by. Also, reserve shows and theater events on touchscreen tv’s near every staircase.

Allow for extra time when dining and get your deck chair early in the morning
BigAlan
If you like spending days by the pool make sure you reserve/save your chairs early. First morning I was saving 10 chairs for my group, saw a deck hand, tipped him a 20 and he save my chairs for us every morning!

get to the terminal earlier than you are assigned and bring a lot of patience. Took over 2 hours to board the ship. Arrived at our assigned time and waited 90 minutes before even entering the terminal and all of the info that I uploaded they redid for no apparent reason.

Use your cabin phone to make reservations everyday for the main dining rooms especially if it's a large crowd. They were great setting things up.

Arrive early to start enjoying your trip as soon as possible! Eat at the main dining rooms for overall better quality of food. You can easily swap your reservations to any show or specialty dining once onboard at any directory touch screen located by the elevators. Head to places like the water slides, go karts, and Galaxy Pavilion later during dinner when lines are low.

Think about the cruise you are looking for and make sure this ship aligns with it. We would have liked a few more entertainment options that we typically look forward to such as the dueling pianos. It’s tough to say if we would go back on the NCL Joy again because there is nothing wrong with it but entertainment/ on-board activities didn’t offer some of the things we enjoy the most. The paid venues such as the Galaxy VR Pavilion are something we may have been more willing to try if we had a little less time in port. We love Bermuda so much and there is so much to explore there that we didn’t want to “waste” time on the ship trying Virtual Reality.

Book all your dining options before you get on the ship. Some of the specialty restaurants book up quickly. Once onboard make your show reservations and book go karts and laser tag right away as well if you plan on doing that. Those activities are also quite popular and book up fast.

Don’t sail on it! They lied advising Max capacity of 50-70%, they were over 90% on our trip.

If you are a foodie, care about getting a better meal than Applebee's, or want to have your drink available the entire time on the ship then this is not the cruise line for you. Also, if you want your 5 - 12 years old to be enjoy a full day kids program that this not the cruise line for you.

Visit The District Brewhouse first (if you drink) for the best Bartenders on the Joy!

Definitely spend some time on the Observation Deck!

Make sure to schedule your day so that you don't miss anything being offered throughout the ship.
