Although we had been on a Norweigan cruise in the past the rest of our family didn't . We found ourselves comparing this cruise and the ship to the Carnival Horizon which we took a few years ago together and we liked the Carnival better.
Embarkation

Not terrible but very long lines with different people asking for the same things (it seemed).
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Main-food average, accommodating for large group to sit together. Specialty-really good food. Buffet-very crowed most of the time and hard to find tables. For Main and Specialty restaurants the negatives were staff very impersonal and coffee or tea never offered. If you didn't order it, you weren't getting it.
Onboard Activities

Fitness center not impressed at all. Games were really bad. Staff had accents that were difficult to understand. Out grandchildren had a ball in the Galaxy and the race cars.

Service and Staff

As I say they were friendly as you would pass them I also have to say at restaurants they were extremely impersonal. It was as if they were instructed not to communicate at all with the passengers. Our Cabin Stewart was excellent. She went above and beyond!

They were fine
Cabin / Stateroom

Bathroom was excellent because of the shower and shelf space. The closet space good. Shelves to put clothes were excellent. Only problem with the cabin was it was tight especially getting into the closet with the bed so close. If the bed were nearer to the balcony I wouldn't have like that either. So, I guess what we had was no that bad. Balcony not great because there was about a 4 ft restricted flooring after the balcony banister where seeing the water was not as great. If I had known it was going to be like this I would have chosen a higher level because they didn't have that space in front of them.
Ship tip
Use your cabin phone to make reservations everyday for the main dining rooms especially if it's a large crowd. They were great setting things up.
It was nice as always. There's supposedly a tram that takes you to the shops but I never saw it coming to the ship. If someone has problems walking it's a hike. We did a couple of excursions that were great.
