Cozumel, Belize, Roatan, OH MY!!!! by hairdiva1013

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Due to tornado warnings our plane was not able to leave for Houston. We finally arrived to LONG lines to board the ship.  We didn't get on the ship in Galveston until 4:00 pm and the ship left at 4:30.  The boarding process was not smooth at all, but again I know it was all due to the weather.  It made for a very long travel day.

No one greeted us upon stepping onto the ship and we had to wander around to figure out where to go to find our rooms. Even with that bad start to our trip, we had a GREAT time.

The food was good...not great all the time.  Sometimes it was stellar!  In a nutshell, it was inconsistent.  We still had fun! We did the ultimate drink package.  If you are a drinker, I would highly recommend purchasing a drink package.  You will save SOOOO much money.

Back to the dining, I did not like the 'Dine anytime' way of eating dinner.  I would have preferred the same table group every night.  We made our own dining group by the 3rd day by being invited by another group of people we met.  They had a set time, set table, and the same wait staff every evening and we were fortunate enough to sit with them.  We prefer the wait staff getting to know us and taking such great care of us.  We also enjoyed getting to know them and the camaraderie.

The excursions were amazing...

Beach Break in Cozumel

Dark Night Tubing in Belize

and our FAV...the Tabyana Beach break in Roatan!

We didn't want to leave to come home!  The number of days at sea were great...so much to do on the ship or simply relaxing by the pool.

Review of 5/24/15 7-day cruise by fiftysomer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruise was very good and our party of four had a great time.  Had been to all the ports before, so chose to stay onboard and enjoy more of the ship's offerings. The crew onboard were very efficient and helpful.  Enjoyed the Windjammer Buffet and the Sapphire Main Dining Room.  Also thoroughly enjoyed the specialty restaurants onboard with Chops Grille and Giovanni's.  Always too much food for one person to partake in, so you have to portion/time manage.  The Prommenade Cafe was a really total surprise.  Open 24 hours with coffee/tea/water/iced tea, then wonderful pastries/rolls/cookies and also the best variety of mini croissant /roll sandwiches ever (for those in-between times).  The music variety onboard was very enjoyable and a mix to please everyone.  It was evident the ship had undergone a retrofitting recently (beautiful upgrading).  The Port of Galveston is a little understaffed and needs more/better directional signage to process a large group of passengers at one time.

Amazing 7 Night Cruise on Navigator of the Sea Royal Caribbean by annieomoss

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

What a wonderful vacation this was.  Anything and everything you needed was provided by the amazing crew on the Navigator of the Seas. Delicious food, drinks, entertainment and of course the excursions, on all the beautiful Islands we docked at.  I definitely will go again next year with the neighbors, only thing i would have done different is take walkie talkies to find people, but at Big Smiletimes it was nice just enjoying the trip on your own too :)

Caribbean Cruise 2015 by margaritacoday

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I very much enjoyed this cruise.  The food was good, and our cabin steward and his staff were awesome.  They kept our room so clean and i loved the towel animals.  I have only been on one other cruise, which  was with Carnival.  Comparing the two: Carnival seemed more customer entertaining and the shower was larger.  Royal Caribbean seemed more for the customer who just wants to relax. The shower is so small that you have to hold your arms straight up to wash them. Both were awesome.

Western Caribbean RCL Cruise by mrmossler

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

all in all a good cruise but RCL is starting to slip...the ship was not well air conditioned as in previous cruises and the dining room, theater even individual rooms were un reasonably warm---dining and theater were  un comfortable especially when we were dressed up for formal nights. There were too many specialty restaurants which took away from the quality of the food and the ambiance of the main dining room. performances by the dancers and singers which were done several nights a week are only done 2 nights on a 7 day cruise. quality on everything has been slipping. The experience was good...but not as enjoyable and special as it has been in the past.

Awesome Cruise by jeffaugust88

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

So many reviews tell about the nightmare at the Galveston Port, but this is our second cruise from there and both times it's been smooth sailing (pun intended). We haven't had to wait but maybe a few minutes each time.

Our Stateroom was ready at 1:00 just as we were told.  Elishah was our Attendant and was right on top of any request we had of him and he kept our room clean and ready for us all the time.

Food on the Navigator was great also,  We didn't do any of the specialty restaurants as we didn't see the need to.  We really enjoyed the Windjammer for breakfast and lunch and the Main Dining Room for dinner.  Hepburne and Nur were our Waiter and Assistant Waiter and they kept our glasses full and were always accommodating with any request we had of them.  We had 2 other couples at our table that we really enjoyed dining with.

Our excursion to Red Stripe Beach in Jamaica was just what we wanted.  A nice little beach to relax and put our feet in the sand.  The attendants at the beach were also very nice and came by to see if we needed anything to drink or eat.

We signed up for the Self Assist Disembarkation and it went very smoothly.  It was raining when we got to port in Galveston, but we went through Customs very quickly and were in our car on the way home 30 minutes after the disembarkation began!

We enjoyed this cruise so much that we have already scheduled another for next year on the Liberty!  We'll continue to cruise with RCI as they have not disappointed us yet.

Wonderful honeymoon! by TW7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was an excellent choice for our honeymoon. The food and service in the Main Dining room and Windjammer were great. Since we were satisfied with the food, we didn't purchase any specialty dining nor any beverage package. Note that we don't drink alcohol or soda. The water, sweet tea, fruit punch, lemonade and orange juice provided were sufficient for our beverage needs. I got a Swedish massage in the spa and it was amazing! I highly recommend it. The gratuity is worth it! The restaurant wait staff and the room attendants made this vacation extra special. I actually teared up on the last night after realizing that I may never see them again. The only negative about the whole trip were the lines to get on the ship at the port in Galveston. I recommend checking your luggage, booking your parking online, and eating breakfast so that you have energy to stand in line for 2-3 hours. Also, if you can afford a suute, book it. Guests in suites had shorter lines. Once we went through this process, it was smooth sailing from there (pun intended).

Totally awesome cruise by 6mD9nv1AbQC4aTaoP5swaRLXK

I was overwhelmed by how nice and enjoyable this cruise was.  Royal Caribbean far exceeded my expectations.  Dining staff especially Veysel was the best I have ever seen.  I loved this so much, I booked another cruise while still on my last one.

I did not enjoy the constant up sell of product and dining rooms.  I also tried to go to the fitness class several days in a row and it was always canceled.

Relaxing and Good Eats! by cathy3714

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our room was very nice and food on the ship was excellent.

I think Royal Caribbean Cruise line should warn people of the chance of sea sickness.   The second day of the cruise in the middle of the Gulf, I became very sea sick and laid in bed for 24 hours unable to function.    I thought seriously about flying home from the first land stop (Cozumel) but was afraid to push the issue with my husband because of the difficulties involved.

This was one of the best cruises I have ever been on! It was perfect for all ages. This was our honeymoon and it definitely didn't dissapoint! Staff was amazing, rooms were a great size, and the cleanliness was on point! Also, the entertainment was much better than other cruise lines I've been on. This was my first Royal Caribbean experience and it won't be my last! Oh and the food was AMAZING!

Vacation of a lifetime!!! by reedsfind

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Last week my husband and I enjoyed the vacation of a lifetime aboard RC's Navigator of the Seas!  With stops at the beautiful islands of Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Jamaica.....who could ask for more!  Our expectations were truly exceeded!  In Cozumel we took a cab and spent the day at Mr. Sancho's resort.  It is breathtakingly beautiful and the chicken nachos and fresh salsa are amazing! (Some of our best finds in shopping were actually at a little shop there too!  Designer sunglasses for all the family!)  In Grand Cayman, we rode a catamaran to Stingray City and swam with the stingrays.....wow!.....a must do!  In Jamaica, we enjoyed a morning of bamboo rafting down the crystal waters of the Martha Brea River......this was the highlight of the entire week for my husband and I loved it too. (Ask for Gayle.....he is a wonderful guide.)  We spent the afternoon at Red Stripe Beach complete with Jerk chicken served hot off the grill.  RC has developed a lovely gated shopping center at Falmouth.  This is the ultimate in shopping and is extremely nice.  The staff on board Navigator of the Seas were top notch.  My favorite of the fine dining was the variety of fresh breads.....absolutely wonderful!....baked fresh daily by Italian chefs. We enjoyed hours relaxing on decks and around the pools with plenty of ice cold beverages.  This week was just amazing.....that's all I can say.....if I had to offer a suggestion for improvement to RC....more entertainment.

Not Impressed by robertlindahome

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

Food not very good; need upright chairs on pool deck instead of all lounge chairs (hard for elderly to get out of); tables on pool deck besides for smoking area;casino too smoky - should be smoke free like most other ships; Sad (I would give Carnival ships a plus on the above.

Help staff all very friendly and helpfulHappy

Not for us!! by trudnart

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Odors, standing in lines, staff unable to direct you anywhere, nickel and dime you to death, and intimidation to pay the cruise ship to get you to the beach when you can hire a taxi for a fraction of the price.  Pay for water in your room?  Fresh orange juice $5.00 a glass, really?  First and last cruise!!

Fun But Totally Inconsistent by crystalcaramel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Cruise entertainment was good but the other experiences w/the cruise were no good at all!!!!  Guest services was no help at all!  Gillian had absolutely no response 2 questions we had and no empathy or apology or anything when we told her of how bad an experience we were having.  We tried several times 2 get signed up 4 shore excursions thru Royal Caribbean and were not successful. We ended up going thru another outside agency 4 them b/c Royal just didn't have it together.  We tried 2 get tickets 4 the ice show as well as get the Make a Wish tshirts and were told guest services had them so we made a special trip to deck 5 to get them and Gillian just had 1 response 4 us-"not here".  She couldn't tell us where to get them or how 2 get them and wasn't apologetic at all about the misinformation.  It seemed like every time we needed an answer we couldn't rely on guest services 4 answers.  We ended up asking our room steward - Christian who seemed 2 know and was awesome!

It was my mother and I on the cruise and the process 4 boarding the ship was horrific!!!! We arrived at approx 9am and didn't get on board til almost 230pm.  This was due to the lack of help at the terminal.  We had pre-booked a wheelchair 4 assistance in boarding and deboarding it took over 3 hrs of waiting 2 get one 4 boarding.  The deboarding process wasn't the greatest either.  There was absolutely no organization whatsoever 4 who gets the next wheelchair or who's next in line for a long time.  Every1 was just told 2 wait on the benches til 1 was available.  People were constantly fighting over who was next 2 get a wheelchair til FINALLY a worker, Sandra, decided 2 write down names and do a list.  Even after that some people were coming up and demanding 2 b next b/c they were DIAMONDS and every1 else could just con't 2 wait.  It was horrible!!!! Especially since this particular cruise was suppose 2 be a SENIORS cruise.  They should've been prepared 4 tons of people needing assistance. The deboarding process had us waiting from 830a (when we had 2 be out of our staterooms) til 1030a to deboard the ship.  In the process guest services called us b/c they didn't have records we were getting wheelchair asst so they thought we were still having fun onboard when we were waiting 4 asst 2 deboard the ship.

We went to the shopping talk on the 1st day at sea and we asked the hosts when we came in if we needed to try and sit down front b/c we knew they'd be giving out freebies and we were told "No, don't worry about it b/c Adam will make sure 2 include the handicap section when giving freebies ote".  ^That didn't happen AT ALL!  None of the handicap were included and in fact unless u were sitting on the first 2 rows u didn't stand a chance at getting anything!!!  There were door prizes as well but only 2 and they went 2 people at the front as well.  We feel that it could've been done better so every1 had a fair shot.

The photo staff acted like it was a hassle 2 take pictures which was their jobs.  The males rolled their eyes at us but eventually did take pics.  When we exited the boat at the different locations the photographers weren't even trying 2 get people 2 take pics with the exception of the pirate who was great(in Falmouth, Jamaica).  Also, at all 3 ports - Falmouth, Jamaica; Grand Cayman; and Cozumel the set up 4 pics was pretty much the same - a lifesaver ring w/writing on it and u on a pedestal.

The photo staff had serious issues w/their new facial recognition equipment and software as well as their computer checkout eqpt.  We had 2 formal nights onboard and the 1st 1 our pics didn't get put w/our profile or room #.  Our pics ended up on other people who were at our table and the photo staff couldn't put them on our profile.  They tried and failed every day til the last day of the cruise when we wanted 2 purchase pics and they still couldn't get it together.  2 1/2 hrs after closing at 1130p we were still waiting 4 them 2 decide how 2 get us our photos 4 $120 package.  After trying several things the photo guy decided he would burn us a disc and we could take it with us.  It was suppose 2 have all the pics we wanted on it = it only had 1.  I am still dealing with the photo people 2 try and get my pics b/c they don't want 2 credit me 4 pics.

Oh yeah, and the photos ended up costing $125 total instead of $120 like we thought, which was a shock b/c in very tiny print they charge an extra  $5 for discs.  Instead of just telling u upfront they charge extra 4 discs they try 2 hide the fact so u r shocked at checkout and the photo staff have 2 explain it 2 u.  Very poor customer service! Either $120 for 8 pics on disc or $20 a shot plus all their hidden fees.  They should be honest and up front w/their customers.

Room service - very inconsistent.  Time frames quoted weren't followed, food served ended up being cold, beverages were watered down, hot, or no good at all.  When told they did try 2 correct it but mostly just not very good service overall! We were quoted 45 min and it took almost 2 hrs 2 get a personal pizza, french fries, hamburger, 2 desserts, and 3 lemonades.  Another time we tried room service we ordered 2 bananas and 2 lemonades.  I ordered at 11:20p and was told 15 min and didn't receive the order until 1:50a.  I called several times and just got lots of excuses like he's on his way, we just changed staff - what did u order?, u should get it w/i 15 more min, that should've already been delivered, etc.  It was pathetic!

Formal Dining Area - we were sat at 1 table the 1st night and the waiter and his assistant Natalia couldn't get it together and they were not communicating at all!!! U could tell there was a lot of friction.  They didn't get our orders right and when we did finally get what we ordered the food wasn't at the right temperature and we had 2 request the food be taken back and redone at the correct temps.  desserts got messed up as well.  Natalia went 2 other tables 4 rolls and drinks but never came 2 ours.  Our waiter looked like he was working more than his area and he was hard 2 find.  I had 2 ask 4 a drink b/c they didn't even get 2 us w/water b/f we got food.  We were finally offered bread but that was after our dessert arrived..not the right time 4 bread and rolls!  We did eventually get our water and food but it was like pulling teeth! The second night was even worse.  A couple at our table 1st night ordered drinks from the bar and barely got them by the time dessert came...the bill was messed up 4 their drinks and it happened the second night as well.

We felt like we were being shuffled around every other night in the formal dining room b/c we kept being asked 2 move 2 another table 4 1 REASON OR ANOTHER.  WE FELT LIKE WE WERE ON A CRUISE WHERE EVERY1 WAS IN TRAINING AND NO1 REALLY HAD ANSWERS 2 OUR QUESTIONS OR KNEW HOW 2 HANDLE ISSUES WHEN THEY CAME UP! Very poor service from guest services to photo dept to the dining hall staff.

Shops - There were several sales onboard which were good however, if u were a plus size person the staff didn't want 2 service u unless u made a big deal of being in their face.  This happened in 6 different places where there were sales onboard.  The staff was prejudiced towards handicapped, elderly, or plus size people.  It was just bad service all together.

Pluses - The room steward - Christian - was awesome! He was a big help all the time.  We would come back 2 our room w/various different towel animals like bunnies, pigs, monkey, duck, @ bull dog on our bed or hanging from the roof.

Cafe Promenade always had fresh and very good food and drink choices that differed each day.

The entertainment was great! Comedians, circus acts, singers like Jerome Bell and Whitney from America's Got Talent, as well as the Ice Dancin Show.  Lots of scheduled things 2 do 4 young and old from casino to Bingo to Line Dancing to lectures or art auctions and various different games and karoke.  U could definitely stay very busy no matter the weather.  The kid's place had arcades, WII contests etc... and there was the SPA as well if u needed to rejuvenate.

windy windy cruise by kerr22269

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our waiter staff Vania and his helper were the best. I got spoiled from Independence of the sea last year in April 2014, by Adrian and his assistant staff. The housekeeping person assigned to our cabin was not good for us at all. We met him the first day and never saw him until the last nite from a hello down the hallway. I had to call to request toilet paper. Sheets were real stiff on this ship? The shows were excellent, the pool activities were fun and laughter was good. Never take a cruise from Texas again. A lot of rudeness from them. We were spoiled by Independence of the sea. There were eight of us and we had a all in all good time.
