Crazy Italians on Costa by VickiF1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

First time on the Costa Line. Was impressed by the beauty of the ship. She is new and very clean. Buffet was very nice, the midnight buffet was the best! I would recommend taking the earlier sitting for dinner so you are hungry for the late buffet. Shore Excursions didn't look all that interesting, so we went out on our own, had a hard time finding enough to do.

Beware!!!!!!!!! by An20089329

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Western

While the ship was beautiful and the entertainment was impressive, we felt like we were lost in another country. The main languages were italian and french, and there was not much in english. The ship was very clean and well maintained. Can't say the food was very impressive-the cheeseburgers were NOT cheeseburgers, and they got their meats mixed up more than once I noticed. I was disappointed to see their were no cafes where you could get dessert or coffee. People were rude and not very knowlegable about anything. The fact that we had to wait an hour or two just to wait for a tender to take us ashore in each port was infuriating-in Grand Caymen we waited 2 hours and Costa had to use their own lifeboats to take people ashore. Poor planning on Costa's part. That ruins half your day!

"In the Minority" by PhyllisG1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Transatlantic

The Costa Mediterranea is truly a beautiful ship. Not a detail was overlooked. What was surprising was that there were so few English speaking people aboard the ship which sailed from Italy. We were aboard another Costa ship years ago in the Caribbean and the make-up of the passengers was entirely different. Had we been informed about the fact that this ship (and Costa in general) caters to Euorpeans, we might have thought twice about booking this cruise.

Very Nice Ship. by JamesG10

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

The Cruise was good, with the exception of the problem we had with our luggage. The airline lost it then delivered it to our cabin. We reported it to the cruise staff, and asked what we could do. We checked everyday, had to keep explaining it to someone different everyday. No one ever got back to us about condition. Poor customer service. Too many languages, annousements ran on and on.

Costa Ships- it's worth the costa' by BobJ5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

Well maintained. Clean and efficiently operated. Staff was excellent in every area. English speakers were always available. Customer Service was their foremost concern but they were very attentive to the bottom-line of merchandising everything. Euro valuation made Duty Free more expensive than local at-home costs.

Experience of a Lifetime by CarolJ3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

The ship was very impressive. It was impeccably clean. The staff and crew were very helpful, considering that I did not speak a foreign language and needed explanations. My room was good size and very quiet. The dining room seemed very noisy, maybe due to the number of people in it? The service in the dining room was very good. The bathrooms were extremely clean at all times.

Perfect Time of year by PeterW4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

The ship was very well organized. The tendering and shuttles were well run. Early seating 7:15 pm had some crying infants if that bothers you choose the second seating.

Great itinerary and great cabins! by DawnS9

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

I felt the staff shouuld have catered more thowrd English guests, particularly guest services. My cruise was 90% Italian passengers. Food was less than average.Butler to suites was unnecessary and unprofessional. Specialty restaurant was horrible, expensive and only one restaurant offered. Entertainment was horrible.

Another wondeful Costa Cruise by joymklady

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This is our third Costa cruise ( once on the Atlantica and twice on the Mediterranea) and we have no desire to cruis any other cruise line. We love the European atmosphere (and we are not European) and the fact there are large numbers of Spanish, German, French and Italian (although most were multilingual) passengers on board. We will definitely be sailing Costa againg and look forward to cruising on the new Concordia and Serena.

A fun cruise, Euro-style by RobD5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Spotless, from top to bottom. Couldn't be any cleaner, and the crew seemed to work 24 hour shifts to keep the ship clean. Seemed much bigger than it was due to the offset hallway pattern on the cabin floors.

Costa Mediterranea Western Carrib by DoctorL

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Western

From boarding to departure the staff was terrific. Ship was clean, service was terrific in the dining room, bars, casino, and the room steward was superb. Everyone tried to be helpful and make you feel at home. Food was excellent in quality, quantity and presentation. Special requests were gladly satisfied. I did not use the excursions since this was my second trip to these islands. Great idea to have an adult only pool at the back of the ship. Plenty of bars on board. Specialty selections could have been more available. Wine list was moderate, but not like Celebrity or Norwegian. There was no coffee or expresso bar. I was surprised. Art auction was fair to midland although the director and assistants were pleasant. Not as knowledgable as I would have liked. The entertainment was not up to par. The talent show the last night was a hoot and plenty of laughter was heard. The onboard shops could have had more selections of jewelry, stones, etc. but I think this was the end of the western carribean season so inventory was low. Casino staff was very friendly making it easier to turn over your money. Multiple buffet serving areas made for an uncrowded feeling. Dining tables near the serving areas were very noisy and not conducive to relaxing dining experience. We were able to get a round table for our party of 8 away from the noise and it made a big difference. Overall, we had a very relaxing and pleasant experience. I would definitely recommend Costa again.

Superb Italian Cruising in the Caribbean by HappyH

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Costa Mediterranea was superb! My new husband and I embarked on a honeymoon cruise that will not be forgotten. This was my second cruise and his first and we loved every minute. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and we were VERY impressed that our cabin-steward greeted us by name wherever we saw him. The ship is very clean and we saw staff polishing every square inch at all hours of the day. We loved the cuisine as well, especially the italian flare. The diverse cultural influences only added to an already magnificent cruise.

A wonderful relaxing cruise! by IngridG1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our first impression was the ship was very loud looking, a Las Vegas feel, but the awesome service by the staff out did the loud feel of the ship. The customer service by the staff on the ship was excellent! We thought it was a wonderful cruise for the price. We were on the 8 th floor room 8233 with a balcony. We had awesome service from our stewards and waiters. They went the extra mile to make sure we were happy. We were there on our anniversary and we enjoyed the cocktail party for honeymooners and couples on their anniversaries. We also had a beautiful cake given to us on the evening of our anniversary. On the day of our anniversary our steward gave us complimentary Champagne and did extra special touches to our room to make it a memorable anniversary!
