Costa Mediterranea

7 Night Eastern Caribbean (Ft. Lauderdale Roundtrip)

Sail date: April 08, 2007

Ship: Costa Mediterranea

Cabin type: Balcony

Traveled as: Family (young children)

Reviewed: 14 years ago

Review summary

Spotless, from top to bottom. Couldn't be any cleaner, and the crew seemed to work 24 hour shifts to keep the ship clean. Seemed much bigger than it was due to the offset hallway pattern on the cabin floors.

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Besides a little bit of shopping or dining, not much to do in the short time in this port.
Don't Miss: "don't miss" getting baclk on the ship.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
Great fun at Coki beach...snorkeling was good. People were friendly...not too pushy.
Don't Miss: Island tour, with great views of the other islands i.e. St. John.

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Only negatives about this port are the short duration of our stop, the high prices for motorized activities such as waverunners or parasailing, and the fear of having your purse or wallet stolen by the locals. They seem to be looking for easy theft targets.

Catalina Island (Isla Catalina), Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
Great fun at the private beach. Costa set up a nice lunch buffet (free). Beautiful warm water with an awesome view of the ship anchored in the bay.
Don't Miss: Everything.

Casa De Campo, Dominican Republic

No reason to stop other than to find a quiet, still place to park so the Russian acrobats/jugglers can do their show.
Don't Miss: I'm not sure if it is the railroad yard or the containers in the ship dock.

Pros: The shows on the main stage were OUTSTANDING! Much better than on past Carnival cruises.

Cons: The food was very average. The main dining room meals were tasteless, and the breakfast buffet was mostly cold.

Recommends Costa Mediterranea? Yes!
