When can I go again by dloomis

when you book a cruise in hurricane season, it is a chance you take for a mystery cruise. We had a excellent captain and crew. Kept us well informed of the hurricane situation. We only made it to the Grand Turks for 2 hours in flooding rains and left there to avoid the storm.  This was our only stop, but one of the most enjoyable cruise I have done. I hesitated going carnival, but out of all the lines I have been on this was right up there. Would do it again in a second.

Felt like a VIFP on this cruise by TheGoldenGirl

The crew was wonderful, the ship was very clean, the entertainment was so much fun, the food delicious and it's no wonder they call Carnival the fun cruise. Parking is so easy, they captain sailed through a nor'easter and did a great job. We would like to recommend to Carnival for all passsengers to check baggage when they arrive home, disembarking took waaaayyyy to long.

Carnival Pride 7 Night Bahama Cruise by trottocheryl

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Awesome vacation!  One thing I would consider in traveling with Carnival again is the quality of water.  The water we used and were served was tinted brown and left a film on the glasses etc.  We inquired and were told it was harmless and just part of the residue during the refiltering process.  As Carnival is aware of this, a consideration for bringing water onboard may be something to consider, understanding the concern outlined within the disclosures of why the policy was changed.  The water coming out of bathroom faucet and shower was also discolored and we were told to let the water run for 5 minutes and "see if it improves".  The cost of the vacation aboard Carnival isn't cheap and I expected better quality.  We also thought the entertainment was lackluster and although we had fun together, the staff spent a lot of time trying to "sell" products and services (i.e., jewelry and art).

Enjoyable cruise by sperkco2

Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I can't say enough great things about the crew. Very friendly and attentive. I'd probably say the only disappointment was Freeport. Where our ship was docked, there was nothing but stores and places to eat and drink. There wasn't a beach in sight and I remember our last cruise there was. We were there for quite awhile, but it was too hot to just walk around and shop, so we ended up back on the ship. Otherwise, it was great

I want to go again!! by zhugzug

We had a wonderful time. The crew and staff were professional and very friendly. The food was excellent and plentiful. David's Steakhouse was the best food we've ever had on land or on sea. The massage therapists in the spa were AMAZING. Serenity was a wonderful and relaxing area, the entertainment was absolutely first class and I cannot stress how very friendly everyone we encountered was. Even when things went unexpectedly and our excursion was canceled in Nassau, the staff and crew did everything they could to make sure we were taken care of.

Not the best cruise I've taken by brooklynnative2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

First I would like to say this was my first cruise on Carnival and after this experience I am reluctant to cruise with Carnival again for the following reason:

The stateroom accommodations were great, the room was comfortable and the housekeeping staff was really nice and friendly, but when it came to entering the room for cleaning, they would knock once and just open the door without giving us enough time to respond. They were really apologetic and offered to come back at a later time, However it happened several times over the course of the week so I guess it was a normal practice. I felt like I did not have any privacy in stateroom because you never knew what time they were coming to clean the rooms.

Some of the staff was rude and made my fiance and I felt as though we were more of a bother to them rather than making sure we had a great cruise experience. My first rude encounter was at the promenade coffee shop on deck 2. My fiancé and I stood at the counter waiting to be serviced, the woman working there made eye contact with us but continued talking and laughing with her coworkers and never offered to help, so we just walked away. When we went back a second time later that day to activate our bottomless bubbles, her demeanor again suggested that she did not want to assist us.

The dining room experience was marginal, the first day was great. Everyone was friendly and eager to serve us, but the second time the food and service wasn't that great. My fiance ordered the Southern Fried Chicken and didn't like it so I asked the waiter for the menu so that he could order something else. The waiter seemed irritated by our request to order a different dish but he brought us the menu, said "HERE" and walked away without giving us a chance to re-order. Another gentleman returned and waited on us for the rest of the evening. Despite our experience in the dinning hall, we had the opportunity to dine at two of the specialty restaurants, David's and the sushi restaurant. Our experience in both restaurants was exceptional! The staff in David's exceeded my expectations and the food was outstanding, I must say the dining experience in David's was the highlight of our entire cruise.

We took and purchased many of photos at Pixels and for the most part, we were satisfied with majority of the photographers and photos. One of the photographers, Mr. Ahkil took some amazing photos of the guests so my fiancé and I were excited about our photo session with him. Unfortunately, we later found out during our session that Mr. Ahkil was not as professional as we had hoped, instead we found his presentations to be very distasteful and offensive! At one point during our shoot, Mr. Ahkil instructed me to smile and concentrate on a designated focal point as if I was looking at a "big fat cheeseburger". How RUDE!! As a plus size woman, I was appalled and highly offended by his comment! I found it to be very inappropriate and unprofessional. My fiance' was highly offended as well. Needless to say, we became extremely uncomfortable and was unable to focus on our session. We did not purchase any of those photos.

We also visited the fun shops where we purchased some liquor which had to be picked up on the last day of the cruise. The prices were reasonable so we did not have any problems with spending. Unfortunately, when we got home and opened our boxes, we discovered that we did not get what we ordered even though our receipt clearly stated what was purchased. I would suggest people check their boxes the morning of debarkation but I am not sure if this would help with discrepancies since the shop is closed during that time.

Lastly, we spent time in the casino and that was fun but I would recommend they offer a smoking and non smoking section or have a balcony to allow air to circulate. There are machines that do not allow smoking but they are scattered throughout the casino mostly next to machines that do allow smoking so it would not matter where you sit the intense smell is overwhelming. If you are not a smoker you will not be comfortable in the casino for long periods of times.

My overall experience on Carnival was less than I expected. I've been on other cruise lines and this was by far my worst experience, I'm not sure if I would pay to cruise with Carnival again or recommend any family or friends.

Wonderful except ending by carlbullers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Cruise was wonderful as were my previous cruises with Carnival.  Very friendly staff from Captain down to all service personnel.  Excellent food and service from wait staff.  Went on two excursions...Segway in Grand Turk was awesome and very good value.    Glass bottom boat at Half Moon Cay was not good.  The Narrator seemed to know her material, but we could not hear a word she said over the Engine noise.  A small microphone and speaker could probably fix this.   On board activities, shows, and entertainment staff were exceptional.  We ended up coming back to home port an hour late and did not find out this until day before, but Carnival gave us free access to phone usage to make changes in travel plans and notify family, etc.  Fortunately, we were able to reschedule our Shuttle pick-up and we were rapidly disembarked on arrival.  Not a major setback, but caused some concern for passengers.  Did not get an explanation for delay, and info on TV for disembarking was not updated.  All-in-all, Great Cruise and scheduling another cruise for next year.

Great fun! by CRShuster

Another fantastic cruise on the Carnival Pride.  From start to finish a good time was had by all.  There are plenty of selections as far as food goes so nobody will walk away hungry.  I like that you now are offered a choice as to how often you want your stateroom visited by the steward.  Either morning or evening or both.  The staff bend over backwards to ensure you are happy and your needs met.

The experience was very good with the cruise line. We had problems with excursions, but they were not booked by the cruise line. The food was good. The staff were all very friendly. Lauro our stateroom stewart was excellent, as were all that waited on us in the dining areas.

Cruise away experience by willgoodwin2002

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Great trip. But the issue with the brown water in the cabins is something that has to be remedied. There was sediment in the tub and sinks. The staff stated that it was from a switching of water tanks. If this ship is in constant rotation then how could dirt and sediment build up like it did. We could actually scoop it up. We were told to run the water for 10 to 15 minutes prior to using it, even after doing that the water still had a brown hue to it.

Bahamas cruise by johnd201

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Cruising is a delightful way to spend a vacation. If you survive the Mad House registration and boarding process without getting upset, the walking onto the ship and subsequent explorations are wonderful. The Pride is not oversized and is not as large as I had expected. The rooms are very well kept and are very comfortable. From the time of first settling into your room, cruising from that point is very relaxing and, at times, entertaining. Everything was terrific except for the entertainment which was very poor. The performers were very good with good singing voices. They were however, stuck with performing in a over produced, poorly written, dumbly choreographed, poorly constructed set designed "show". Honestly, I've been in high schools for 40 yeas and have seen much better shows there. This was true of all of the "shows". Individual performer were good. The comedians were entertaining and the stage bends were good. The food was excellent ( I put on 10 lbs.) and am now on a diet.

Overall it was a very nice experience. I met a lot of very nice people and had some wonderful experiences.

One suggestion: add music stations on your in-room TV's with various music genres. The biggest thing I missed on this cruise was music. Next time I will bring an Ipod.

Good cruise bad experience by eetheridge

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I recommend this cruise because I believe Carnival Pride has great potential  however there are several things that must be addressed. The ship is very beautiful but it should be better maintained. In several areas the ship needs painting. This was very evident on my patio deck in room 7302. Also, the chairs at pool side really needs to be cleaned or changed out.

The food was not good at all. The Pizza was horrible. The ship needs a better chef.

However, overall the cruise was very nice and I would recommend Carnival in fact, my students will be sailing on Carnival in February and I may return with them but I hope these issues are addressed.

Cruising on Carnival is not what is used to be. by johwhite

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I think Carnival should adopt the motto, "Cruising on the Cheap".  From the dining to the entertainment, throughout the cruise that phrase came to mind.  Offerings at breakfast on the Lido Deck did not change from day two and consisted of the worst bacon I have ever experienced.  Not once in seven mornings was corned beef hash offered and the sausage was so bad looking I couldn't touch it.  The entertainment for the week consisted of four nights of production shows, two doses of the cruise director's attempts a humor and one "zero" night.  No real talent in the clubs or lobby.  Worse cruise of our 65 cruises and our last on Carnival.

Not A Happy Cruiser by kiki120743

The sail & Sign system should really be more easier to understand. Once you've used up the deposit or hold amount that they put on your CC you should only be allowed to use cash so that there aren't any complications.

Carnival Pride by msvalcass

I was very pleased with my recent trip on the Carnival Pride.  Our stateroom was very comfortable and the crew members helped my family and I to make a smooth transition from the check-in to the ship.  The entertainment and the food was exceptional.  It was the first cruise for my aunt and cousin and they were very impressed.   The port of call were different from the ones that I experienced last year on the same ship and the up-grades that were added to the ship for instance the dive in area and the fiesta area and the new Guy Burger area were outstanding..

Sail Away by ravensroost4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I just recently returned from my 7-day cruise on the Carnival Pride from Baltimore to the Bahamas and Grand Turk Island.  The weather was great, the ship was well-trimmed, the service was very good, and the experience phenomenal!  My wife and I had a great 7-day vacation on the Pride!

We had been to the Bahamas before ... so we elected to stay on the ship while most passengers took the tenders ashore to Half Moon Cay.  Good move on our part!  We hate being herded around with hundreds of passengers ... and that was our experience at Half Mood Cay several years ago.  Our choice to stay on the ship paid-off ... we had the Serenity deck entirely to ourselves and spent a relaxing day in the sun and around the pool.  No herding!  We visited Grand Turk ... and it was good to see since we had never been there ... but there's really not much there to see (aside from Margaritaville ... that's a must-see!).  It's an impoverished, barren island.  Some OK beaches ... but no need to return from our standpoint.  Our stop in Freeport was also a bit disappointing.  The ship was in port from 8am-noon ... and we grabbed a taxi to Port Lucaya hoping to browse the many shops ... but nothing was open!  We walked around aimlessly for an hour or so, then grabbed a cab back to the ship.

The ports of call were not expected to be the highlights of our trip since we had been there before.  We looked forward to the experience aboard ship and were very happy and satisfied with that experience.  I'd take the cruise again ... but likely wouldn't bother disembarking at any port.

We enjoyed the shows and really liked the music trivia hosted by Steve the Cruise Director!

The cabin was spacious and we got plenty of use out of our balcony!

I can't comment on the food ... I wasn't allowed in the main dining room so we ate at the buffet every meal (long story ... I ain't goin' there!).

One complaint - the primary water slide broke on the 2nd or 3rd day of the cruise and was not available for the remainder of the cruise.  We never got to try it.

One more complaint ... my wife opted for the Cheers program to make alcohol consumption more economical for the week ... and I was REQUIRED to also purchase the Cheers program since I shared a cabin with my wife ... but I don't drink alcohol!  I understand the rule ... but I feel like I got hosed!

Overall, a great week and a great cruise!

Our Carnival "Pride" cruise by travelers1964

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

As frequent cruise travelers,22 & counting, we were somewhat disappointed in the quality of entertainment which usually has been good on our Carnival cruises but found to be somewhat uninspiring this time around.  We also found the selection of food to be limited and the amounts served in the dining room to be smaller than the dinners we've had on our many cruises.  On an upbeat, we found the wait staff to be very good as was the cabin staff.  We are hoping that our next Carnival cruise in January on the "Splendor" will be better.
