This ship is smaller then some but I loved that the rooms are all balcony rooms.  The staff was wonderful.  Food good.  Carnival is very proactive in making sure all beverages are purchased from them.  We found out 5 days in that they sell a 12 pack of bottled water for $3, so check that out in the beginning.  The bottled water in your stateroom is almost $5 for one bottle.

It is what you make it by sciarapd

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Hawaii

There was nothing overly special about this cruise except for the fact that it goes to Hawaii. Not enough activities offered during the sea days. Lack of commitment to the Hawaiian theme. Expect to make your own entertainment if you are under the age of 60 because nothing offered will be of much interest.

Had FUN!! by sberenty

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Overall we had a very enjoyable cruise. Except for Juneau the weather was perfect. Of course Carnival doesn't control the climate and it can be unpredictable but the even with bad weather it would have been a pleasure trip. The entertainment was excellent, especially the Playlist Shows at the Follies. Those entertainers were outstanding and the highlight of the offerings, Vegas or even Broadway worthy!!

The food was excellent in the Dining Rooms and the service excellent except for one incident when the wait to be served after being seated took over an hour. After we let the reception desk know they quickly remedied it. Having a Naturalist on board was a HUGE plus...She was excellent.

We would definitely choose Carnival again.

30th wedding anniversary trip by pstout

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

My husband and I recently took an Alaskan cruise for our 30th wedding anniversary.  Alaska was beautiful and we would recommend this to everyone.  Our cruise experience was very good. We loved all our ports of call, including excursions booked. The shows in the main theater at night, on the Carnival Legend, were phenomenal. Honestly, the only disappointment was the food aboard the ship.  We have cruised Carnival several times, and the food is primarily the same overall, but that has not stopped us from booking, again and again.

Oshkosh needs some work but overall good cruise by lanisadharris

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Ports were great service provided by carnival employees was wonderful however the ship itself needs work, it rained while on the cruise and the roof leaks in several places it was hard to find a dry table to eat because of roof leaking it  even dripped from light fixtures and we were on the 5th floor and had buckets in the hallway too catch drips which makes you worry about mold in the walls or fire since it was staying in the light fixtures but overall a good experience

Alaskan sisters cruise by maryrose403

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The cruise all in all was great because I got to share it with my sisters. The 4 ports were beautiful but we did not have enough time to spend in most of them. I think it may need to be reworked so there is a little more time in Juneau,Ketchikan and Victoria BC. As for the ship the service was wonderful as always but the food was not as good as it has been in the past. It was not always hot and the selection was not as grand as before. I have always said Carnival has the best food but now I am not to sure. I to wish that they had a little more to do on board when out to sea except for shopping.

I would still recommend this cruise because we had a wonderful time.

bottom of the ladder cruise line by KLFinSD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Whereas the staff was very nice and the excursions were good, every thing else was just so-so. I've sailed with Holland, Norwegian, Disney and now Carnival so feel I have a good base for comparison. Decor was tacky, food even in the nice areas was rather bland, except for the salad and one dessert and the entertainment so so. The balcony was nice to have, room needed updating (blue floors, green sink). We didn't get into VIctoria until 730 at night and by the time we got off, most things were closed. You get what you pay for, so good started level cruise.   I'd give it a 2.5 if I could

Worst Experience Ever on Carnival! by ladysandpiper

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Lisa,

My complaints are few but very significant.  The cabin was too small for four people.  As seniors, my sister and I had to climb a ladder to sleep in a narrow bunk bed on alternating nights.  My granddaughter slept in the other bunk.

We all banged our heads numerous times against the bunk beds during the day and night.  The steward was suppose to store the beds during the day-that never happened.

We missed our shore excursion -train ride because of mis- information from the ship about the departure time.

The food was sub standard all around-served cold and on two occasions still frozen.  Room service was a horror!

And finally, my daughter had her camera smashed into her face by a ship supervisor during muster.  The incident was reported and we were made to feel like liars.  I insisted that the ship's video be reviewed after which a sneior officer came to our cabin to apologize. My daughter was treated by the ship's doctor for bruises after she was ex-ray

Poor dining and food by bagainey

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

I will not recommend this cruise to anyone. I've been cruising for thirty years and this ship has the poorest run kitchen and dining I've ever encountered. We seldom could even get refills on tea and water and it wasn't because we had a bad waiter, we had anytime dining and had different waiters almost every meal. Anyone who cruises knows the dining room is never crowded for breakfast, and it wasn't but we even had to sit and wait and ask for coffee refills. The only decent piece of beef we had was the everyday Flat iron steak. The filet mignon as well as the chatubriand was not cutable let alone chewable. At one dinner three of us ordered the same entree and two came and the third person got there's when we were ready for dessert! It was not a special order item either! Room service never got one complete order right. The dining experience is a highlight for most cruisers and as me as well, but this ship was a real disappointment. The shows were good the excursions were good and our Cabin Steward was on top of his game but the food and dining experience was pitiful.😝😩😞😟

The crew was rude and would not help with any of my issues. by Sksnadine

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

I booked this cruise in November to be sure I got the cabin I wanted. My brother and his wife were going with my husband and I. We wanted cabins close. for some reason, in April while I was out of the country and had no access to email, you canceled my reservation. Instead of paying the due balance with the original credit card, you just emailed me that the balance was due in 24hr & if you didn't hear from me, my reservation would be cancelled. I called you when I returned on Monday, but my room was gone and I was told there was only one balcony room left, a higher category, on a different deck. I was hysterical! I had no choice, but I had to take it or not go, hotel and flights were already paid for. Your people told me to discuss it with Carnival when I got onboard. What a joke. They could not have cared less. Their only comment was that they cruise was completely booked. THEN I went to my room. I have never had a balcony room. We splurged for our anniversary and Alaska. There was a lifeboat on our balcony! Carnival says I was informed, however it is not on my paperwork, and no one at Delta told me I was getting an obstructed view room. Again Carnival would do NOTHING and never even said "I'm sorry".  The first night when we were going to dinner, I noticed that not only had my room been changed, but my dining time as well. We had "my time" dining before which is in a separate dining room from assigned times. This meant that we were also not going to get to dine with my brother and his wife. So I went back to guest services. They said they could not change it and that I would have to go to the dining room and ask permission from the Matradee. When I protested, he went behind a wall, came back and said he called him and it was worked out. um hum.  If you tried to ask a question, most of the the staff just looked at you and couldn't answer. I asked someone where the dining room was and she just shrugged.  I cam back from an excursion with a tiny pot metal pocket knife for my grandson that was shaped like a bullet. They said I could not bring it on board because it looked like a bullet. I asked how I was supposed to know that and was told it is on the internet. At .75 a minute I assure you I was not on the internet on the ship. When my bags were x rayed and I was asked about it I told them what it was, the man asked to see it. So I wouldn't hold up the line, he put my bags on the floor and I had to get on the floor and dig through them to find it. I have severe Rheumatoid Arthritis and this is no easy feat for me, especially getting up. When I showed him, he took, saying he was confiscating it. I asked to speak with a supervisor. When he came over, he confirmed the same. I asked if I could get it back on disembarkation, and he said "No, it is against policy." He then proceeded to swing it around on his finger and laugh at me BEFORE he put it in his pocket!!! I wonder how many of those he has at home!!! We called the Purser. They too said i could not have it back. Again, no sorry, just out $10. Felt degraded and robbed.

The only people on the ship that were nice, wonderful actually were the dining room staff. They were nice, polite and helpful for the most part. This trip was the most expensive vacation I have ever taken and it was the worse experience I have ever had. I cried most of the time. I morned the loss of the money I was out and my dignity. I love using SkyMiles Cruises and Travel for the Skymiles, but I won't do it again because of all the problems and nondisclosures that occurred.

Alaskan Cruise June 2015 by rmebrat57

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

I couldn't have been happier with this cruise.  Carnival did a great job while we were cruising.  The people could not have been nicer and the service was wonderful.  Our cabin steward was Tennyson and he was happy to help us with whatever request we made.  Everything was organized and planned in a way that gave my whole party (14 of us) time to relax and to check out all the ports of call at which we stopped.  This is only my second cruise and the first with Carnival and I would definitely cruise again on Carnival.  The people at the Pixels photo gallery were just as wonderful.  I want to give a shout out to Van Walter who was a joy when getting pictures taken.  I will definitely look into any future cruises on Carnival Cruise lines.

OK for a first timer by rgonzal2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

the cruise overall was good.  i was disappointed that we didn't get to see whales (well, only one), but i know that is something that cannot be controlled.  my cabin was perfect and my cabin steward (Saurijana) deserves mention because he was terrific - very attentive and helpful.  i was disappointed with the entertainment on board. i took a recent cruise with Carnival to Cozumel in February and the entertainment was the same, though at least on the Legend the entertainers were of better quality.  the food left a lot to be desired.  our evening dining in the Ruffles restaurant was made very pleasant by our waiter, last name Gonzalez from the Phillipines (cannot recall his first name).  the excursion i was able to take were nice - Misty Arms Fjord, a train excursion.  i am disabled so i was not able to participate in many of the other excursions - also i found them rather pricey.  also, we seemed to have spent the greater amount of time at the smallest port (Skagway) and the least amount of time at a larger stop (Victoria).  Overall, i rate the cruise a 4 out of 5 because i did get to see things i had never seen before.

the ship is older, which means outdated, TV are from the 1960s I think. service in dining room was very slow, waited over an hour to get food, not much to do during day that interested me, we took our 24 yr old grandson who was disappointed they did not offer drink package for only 1 person in stateroom as other lines do....time in ports was very short..hand sanitizers never filled..on RC there are people standing at dining room door with sanitizer, people in buffett dining did not seem like they wanted to be there, only 2 people interacted with us

Week in review by pamelamartin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

we were a group of seven.  Three of us became sick on the cruise and it took three weeks and medication for me to get better.  I now have scars on my lungs!  We did not enjoy the entertainment.  There wasn't enough variety...seems like holland cut costs and it showed.  I was disappointed in seeing the glacier from such a distance.  Would not recommend this cruise line nor this particular cruise.

Excellent by gmonn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Would highly recommend this cruise.  The scenery was beautiful, the weather was perfect.  We saw lots of beautiful waterfalls in Tracy Arm Fourd and of the course the glacier.  Great scenery down through the valley on the Yukon, White Pass train excursion.  The whole train experience was unique, we saw mountain goats which is a rarety.  The Mendell Glacier bus tour in Juneau was great but wish we would have had more time to enjoy the scenery and the visitors center.  The Mendell Glacier was up close and the waterfall beside it was amazing.  Glacier Bay was beautiful also, its always nice to learn some history about the area you are visiting.  The Park Rangers who came aboard the boat provided the history.  The Glaciers were larger then we expected!  We also enjoyed watching hump back wales, dolphins, and seals play in the water on this vacation.  Over all an Amazing trip!

Carnival Legend Cruise by vedrosr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Hawaii

Overall, this was a great cruise although the cruise started off on a bad foot.  The ship had arrived from Australia and there was a lot of trouble getting it ready for our boarding.  It took forever to get us registered and on board. We sat for almost  two  hours and at times the boarders were beginning to yell  catcalls at the Carnival staff. This was one of the worst entry to a cruise ship we have  experienced in all of our cruises.  Improvement has to be made in this regard. The room steward was excellent and all of the workers on board were very kind and friendly.  They always greeted you with a smile. Our table steward was slow to take our dinner orders and we were always the last ones at the dinner table.  He could have been a little more attentive to our needs.  We constantly had to get his attention to take our orders or to get the wine steward.  We have had lots of better ones on previous cruises. The food was average.  We have had much better fare on other cruise lines.  The food in the  Lido deck was not available  in late hours in the evening. At night time no evening snacks were available other than yogurt.

Hawaiian Vacation by brown17ashepoo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Hawaii

To start my vacation, it was a very poor beginning.  A computer mishap occurred and ID cards could not be made for each customer.  This left all people in a large room waiting to register.  I did not get to my room until 3:30.  When I placed my order, it was told to me we could board, have breakfast and begin our vacation sightseeing in Honolulu.  It was very exhausting and my first day I did nothing but unpack, finally get something to eat, then relax.  As I am from the East Coast, I had a six hour time difference to adjust to, so basically at 3:30, it was 9:30 Eastern time.  In addition, I had bought an excursion through for a 3-Day Honolulu Pass.  Before I went to the ship I had to go and retrieve my pass only to find out it was no longer available.  Another big disappointment.  It has taken almost 4 weeks to be reimbursed for the excursion I never received.

Hawaiian was simply beautiful.  I was able to see many sights I had only read about.  One of the most enjoyable excursions was Pearl Harbor.  I also went to an active volcano, the Pineapple Plantation, the Rainfalls, and a Luau.  If I choose another cruise, I would only want to travel around Hawaiian.  This was an 11 Day Cruise with 5 days on the ocean traveling to Vancouver.  I was surprised how very chilly the ocean trip was.  Luckily I had a wind breaker, which one needed.  The pools were beautiful but the weather too cold to enjoy lazing or swimming on most days.

Previously I had been on 2 other cruises, the last one to Alaska on Holland America.  I do have to say the food on Holland America was so much better than on the Carnival Legend.  I was rather disappointed with the limited access to food areas and the selections of food that was offered.

When we arrived in Vancouver, they shuffled people off as quickly as possible.  This too was not what I had been told.  We could leisurely have breakfast, then disembark.  However, they started at Level 1 at 7:30 hustling people out.  Coming and going was not the greatest experience on the cruise.

In summary, I know now a better way to see Hawaii and will try again to have a more relaxing time on a different cruise.
