The best kept secret on the Glory is the Fish 'n Chips restaurant located upstairs in the Lido main dining area! Fried oysters, seafood soup, fried calamari and cerviche!!! also, get to the pool area EARLY, (If you want to find a seat). Make sure you have a "Guy Fiere" Burger!!!!!!!!
If you have anytime dining but found a waiting staff you like, you can still ask to be seated in their area (may have to wait a few minutes but it is worth it).
Don't be in a hurry to get off the ship...if they call you first you can leave any time..if they call you last you can leave any time..you just can't stow away and stay on because they have to clear the ship :)
If you are looking to get as much sun exposure as possible, make sure on your days at sea that you get up early to grab your chair on the Lido deck and pick the correct side. First time I picked the wrong side and had the sun at our back all day. There is also a nice quite area in the back.
Carnival Glory is an "excursion ship" in our opinion. It is a fantastic base for shore excursions and puts into 4 VERY different Carribean ports. They could have a tender system ironed out shortly that may allow passengers to go on more than one trip at each port. They need to improve the musicians.
Lido deck was very loud but we found a quieter place to eat.
My suggestion....redo the ship. It is so old looking and so retro. Not a good visual impression.
We liked our stateroom on deck 11 because it was a partial deck at the front of the ship. As soon as we got to deck 11, we were close to our room. There was less human traffic because there were fewer rooms & we were right by the spa/fitness center which we tried to use as much as possible.
If I was able to to go again, I would spend more time at the back of the ship. We found more chairs around the pool and better lunch.
I would not get a room in the area of night cleaning.
The Glory had a lot of problems. From Guest Services, Dinning, food, and entertainment. Guest services did not have enough people to handle all the requests, so the waiting time in line or phone call was over 45 minutes. Food quality and variety were lacking, except for the only paying restaurant
Visit the deli at least 1 time in the evening. The gentlemen working there reminded us so much of the "Soup Nazi" from Seinfeld that we nicknamed him the "Deli Nazi"......It was always an adventure. No matter what you ordered, you got what he wanted to serve. It was kind of fun.....
Few people know about the fish & chips because the signs are few and very small.
We did enjoy sitting by the small pool in aft section, but could be difficult to find a shady spot at times.
I always wake up earlier than my non husband so I would order room service breakfast, mostly salmon, and I would go out on our balcony ans eat that and have my coffee and then when he woke up we would go to the lido breakfast.
