Great value for a nice getaway by experttraveler

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Our cabin was large, the food was better than expected and the entertainment was great. Yes, they try to get you to spend more money everywhere, but it's easy to avoid as I don't drink or gamble.

Great Ship Horrible Weather by JRN40492403

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

This was my seventh cruise and I have always been to the Caribbean so I guess I was expecting to sit by the pool and relax in some sun but that was not the case. We left Boston on a Tuesday and returned on a Sunday. We did not have good weather during that period. Fogged in two days, chilly and rain!. The ports of call would have been more enjoyable if it wasn't pouring and umbrella blowing around. The ship was spotless, Everyone was friendly and helpful, Shows were good and comedy club was enjoyable. The room was large. We had ocean view and very clean. Food was good but at times lines were long but moved rather quickly. All in all the cruise ship was perfect but the weather really spoiled the vacation. If you want sun and want to relax outside this is not the cruise for you. If you don't mind cool, foggy and cloudy weather then you will enjoy this. We were told this was typical weather for that part of Canada. I guess I will be heading south again on my next cruise.

Max Family Fun by Fjcruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

We went on this trip as a family vacation with all of our immediate family ranging in ages from 7 years old, 20 years old, and 77 years. The cruise offered something for everyone - serenity lounge and spa for those who wanted to relax, great gym for the workout rats, fun casino to satisfy our vices, kids activities, and trivia contests. The food was fabulous especially at the Golden Restaurant where we ate every evening because the staff was so fun and the food was unique and delicious. The only disappointment of the trip was St. John...we went to the reversing falls at low tide, so no falls amidst a very depressed spot. We would have preferred to stay on the boat. It was fun to wander around Halifax. We went on the whale watch, but no whales were spotted. The entire cruise staff was attentive, funny and cordial - a great mix of people from around the world who worked very hard to make our trip easy and enjoyable.

First timer by jdefeo6892

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

Had a wonderful time. Dinning staff and house cleaners very accomidating and respectful. Excellant people. The only thing I didn't like was 2 nights had to ask workers tp please be more quiet. It was between 1:00am and 2:00 am there was a lot of noise in hall by them getting equiptment out of closet and then starting it up to make sure it worked that I feel was unexceptable. When asked to be more quiet they did so and again was respectful. Other than that everything was great and had a wonderful time and yes would do it again.

A Memorable Vacation by JStovall

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

I choose this rating because everything about the cruise was suburb. My husband and I have sailed with Carnival prior to this time and decided to invite our 28 yr old daughter and 21 yr old son since we've enjoyed the previous cruises and thought they might as well. The professionalism of the staff was super (as usual). The Cruise Director, Matt was very energetic and engaged the guest to reach their maximum enjoyment in activities he headed. The food selections were awesome. The activities were all enjoyable, some of which included; line dancing, bingo, comedy shows, kereoke, night clubs, heated pools and hot tubs, and more . The Stewart kept our cabins tidy and the waitress was amazing. After being told our names once, she remembered them throughout the cruise. We thoroughly enjoyed the live entertainment during dinner. My daughter kept asking "where have I been all of my life". I could only laugh. She was having such a great time, she couldn't believe it took her this long to cruise. She now says, she has to do it at least once a year. I would recommend couples as well as families. There were plenty of activities to keep the children occupied when the parents wanted to have adult time. The next cruise will include our grandchildren.

This was our first cruise. by CJK699cruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

My husband and myself found the cruise very relaxing. We liked the fact that we could eat at several places. We thought the food was good and had lots of choices. The best part we felt save to roam the ship on our own. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. The dinning room staff was the best. Our room was well cared for all ways cleaned, and we loved the towel animials, and chocolates each night. Most of all we appreciated the dedication, attention and friendly feeling we got from all the staff.

Absolutely Amazing by Chris24

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

There a lot of fun things to do on the ship. I honesty had more fun on the ship than i did in Bahamas. I met lots of great people and the service from the crew members was terrific. I really felt like a celebrity on this cruise. The money spent is well worth the time and experience. Did I leave out the food... Delicious!

Great Bahamas cruise by wvfan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was my second cruise. Hadn't been on one since a Carnival Cruise to Mexico in the 80's so I was excited too see if I had the same impression. Went with my whole family, including 2 sons and sister's family who were first timers. To begin with...it was a good deal for what you get. 5 Nights 6 days of constant entertainment. Food was really good and freshly prepared...even the buffet. Room was larger than my last time and steward was attentive. I don't recall his name but he was the most positive and friendly person I have met in a long time. Time in port was not real long but gave you a good half a day to check it out. They offered lots of excursions but we were more of the do it yourself type and hailed a taxi/van to take us around the island. In closing I would say that cruising is what you make of it. There is plenty too do if you just choose to do it. Huge exercise facility, many clubs, gambling, pools, hot tubs, secluded deck areas, constant music around the ship, contests and activities, shows. The only thing missing is having to drive too them. If you are budget minded like me, you can buy a bottle of alcohol onboard (cheaper than back home) and take it too your room. Alcohol is expensive at the bars. Get the buttomless bubbles for unlimited soda for $6 a day.

Hope this is not a trend. by fatboy05

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our fifth cruise on Carnival in 5 years, four on Glory. The service was good and the cabin clean. The food was good and the Ship was clean. The entertainment and the ent director were a huge step down. We could not believe the change in the shows from last year. We actually stopped going to the shows. We went to give things a try each time but left. The ent director, Josh was probably a nice guy, but if you compare him to Jorge or any on the others it was disappointing. He played to the lowest common denominator, it seemed. We did not feel engaged, there was no continuity and we did not feel as a part of something as in the past. The woman from Canada, his assistant was with out talent. Everything she said was predictable and brassy. The tours were wonderful, my kids loved them although we missed one due to the time changes on the ship....why? I NEVER respond to these things, you can see this is my first response to any of my cruises. We will be cruising next year, maybe on Carnival. If anything else goes down hill like the entertainment did we will will find another line for sure. If its a money issue, I would suggest charging a little more and keep the quality high or you will lose a lot of business. Word travels fast. What do I know, I am in the insurance business. My First Cruise by dlovell3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I had one problem and one concern with my first Cruise. The problem was with the stateroom attendant, his attitude was not good, he did not speak or when he did, he acted like he had a attitude but as we continued to leave, all other stateroom attendants spoke and were happy to speak. My wife and I has an issue where we needed to call home to check on family memebers, my call went through but my wife could not get the call to go through so we were able to call the front desk and they said they would have someone come up and the stateroom attendant came in with a new phone, he hooked it up and I asked him would he wait to make sure the calls went through and he looked at me and proceeded to walk out. I was very angry at this and so was my wife, we did report him to the front desk and yes we took money off of his tip. My concern was with us going to Belize, they kept announcing that when we get off in Belize to be careful of our surrounding as well as telling us to take all our jewlery off and don't bring a large amount of cash, they said this well over 5 times the night before we got off and at least 20 times the day of while waiting to tender, I told my wife I did not fell comfortable and we were not getting off, if its that bad in Belize, why have it on the route? With the exception of the first problem, my experience was great and can't wait to go back, the Cruise Director and his crew was great, the Rev Dr. E was good a host and should be a Cruise Director on his own, not to take anything away from Big Sexy because they both were good.

I have cruised carnival before and had a great experience, this cruise did not meet my expectations. Shows not good, diningroom was not run properly. Our head waiters was okay, his support staff was not always around. Our steward though was very good, rooms always clean also the ship was clean.

This was my second trip with Carnival. I really did not think the first cruise was great, but was willing to give Carnival a try again. However: The quality of the entertainment and food was very poor. During the cruise I experienced a foul smell each evening. The music was too load to enjoy, the pools too crowded to use, the daily news letter did not include any information about the ports we stopped at, and did not really explain the events in full. I will say that all employees were very friendly and helpful. I will never book with Carnival again.

Carnival Glory by MayNotCruiseAga

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group

Our Room was maintained very well and the Housekeeping Team was polite and courteous. Our Waiter was very good; however his supporting cast was not always readily available to help in a timely fashion (e.g. delays in service needs, etc). During our Dinner on multiple occasions a different group came by to ask if we wanted and after Dinner Alcohol Drink; we did even start on our entree and they were trying to do this. My suggestion is Management should know a meal progresses (e.g. appetizer, entree, dessert and then drinks). The Shows were not up to the level I have experienced in the past as well. Of the 5 Carnival Cruises I have been on; this was the worst.

Review of Our 7-Day Western Caribbean Cruise by anothercruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

There were too few on-board shows and they filled up early which caused many passengers to be turned away. The Buffet closed too early in the afternoon which meant that people returning from shore excursions could not get a late lunch. There was no signage directing passengers to the excursion debarcations and for the most part, these did not go smoothly (too much confusion). The audio directions were broadcast from the passageways rather than the in-room speakers. this made them difficult to hear and understand unless you came out of your room. They were also too long (crew members doing these need to keep in mind "KEEP IT SIMPLE"). There was too much smoke in the casino. We were on a Princess Cruise to the Eastern Caribbean a few years ago and it had better entertainment, better food and was better organized. Since our cruise left from the port of Miami it would have made more sense for our cruise arranged flights to be to and from Miami rather than Ft. Lauderdale.
