Carnival Legend overview

Carnival Legend is a Spirit-class ship From Carnival Cruise Line
Adults and kids of all ages will enjoy all of the amenities available on the Carnival Legend.

Carnival Legend debuted in 2002 as one of Carnival’s Spirit-class cruise ships and holds just over 2,100 passengers. The ship's most recent dry dock was in 2018. She received extensive upgrades and renovations, most notably many of Carnival’s Fun Ship 2.0 venues. Additions included the Cherry on Top candy shop and ice cream counter, Guy’s Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina, and the craft cocktail Alchemy Bar.

Other features and amenities include the WaterWorks aqua park with water slides, Lip Sync Battle: Carnival, and The Punchliner Comedy Club. The Camp Ocean kids’ club offers great activities for ages 2-11 along with the favorite Seuss at Sea programming. Teens can head over to Club O2 for some video games, karaoke, movies, and music.

Carnival Legend isn’t just for the kids, though. The Serenity adults-only deck offers a place to peacefully catch some rays, have a drink, and escape the crowds. Parents don’t have to worry about missing the lively nightlife available on the Legend. Parents can take advantage of Night Owls where kids under that ages 11 and under can play with others until 1 a.m.

Eighty percent of Carnival Legend cabins have an ocean view, and of those, eighty percent are balcony staterooms.

Legend currently homeports seasonally in Australia and Alaska. In October 2019, the ship will relocate to Tampa, Florida to sail cruises in the western Caribbean. It offers a diverse set of itineraries to Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and the Panama Canal.

Before you book

Why sail: This ship is a great fit for families, laid back couples, and budget-conscious travelers. It's a smaller ship in comparison with many of today’s new vessels. This means it’s perfect for passengers who don’t want to deal with navigating a mega-ship or avoiding large crowds.

You should know: There isn't the modern feel and cutting-edge amenities of the newer ships in Carnival’s fleet. Some people might find the interior design to be too overwhelming and ostentatious.

What is there to do on Carnival Legend?

Activities aboard the Carnival Legend

Activities that kids will love include Hasbro, The Game Show where participants join in as board games come to life, a Dr. Seuss parade and Green Eggs and Ham breakfast, and building their own stuffed animal during the pop-up Build-A-Bear Workshop at Sea event. Other activities for guests of all ages include splashing around the WaterWorks aqua park, dancing it up during a lido deck party, and shooting hoops or playing mini-golf on the sports deck. When the adults want some me-time, they can head to the Serenity Retreat where there’s no kids allowed, the Carnival Spa, or test their skills at a Mixologist Competition.

Carnival Legend cabins

Carnival Legend cabins include interior, oceanview, balcony rooms with a variety of sizes and layouts to choose from, and four types of suites. Those that prefer a balcony cabin can choose from several options. These include regular or obstructed balconies, as well as an extended balcony category with more space outside. There's also a premium balcony cabin with more space inside and out. Suites include junior, ocean, vista, or grand suite categories, each of which offers a different configuration and size.

Carnival Legend dining

There is one main dining room called Truffles, which spans decks 2 and 3 and holds 1,250 people per seating. The section on deck 2 is for those with traditional fixed seating for dinner. The upper level is for passengers that are on Your Time Dining. Carnival Legend’s lido deck buffet is called Unicorn Cafe. It boasts over-the-top, whimsical decor that you might expect from a dining venue named after a mythical creature. Out by the pool is Carnival’s ever-popular complimentary venue Guy’s Burger Joint. Passengers enjoy hand-cut fries and a variety of juicy burgers created by celebrity chef Guy Fieri. Aside from the Chef’s Table experience, the only set-price specialty restaurant onboard is the steakhouse, called Nouveau Restaurant. A la carte venues onboard are Bonsai Sushi, Seafood Corner, and the Legends Cafe which serves specialty coffees and pastries.

Super relaxing fun-time by martibee

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Legend

While being an older ship in need of updates it was very comfortable. The people made it a great cruise. I loved our dining room staff, Tuty, Ryan and Tom were all great. And the idea of putting a dozen singles together at one shared table was BRILLIANT.

salad bar is excellent--room service is awesome; stay away from the art shows and the jewelry store!! the evening shows are very good...and not overcrowded! the "anytime seating" for dinner was great! didn't feel pushed into a schedule--will do this again.
