Wonderful vacation aboard the Westerdam. Georgous ship and great staff. The food and entertainment was beyound expectations. Alaska is beautiful.

The ship was clean but the decor was very dated, the rooms were very small, the fixtures, ie bathroom didnt work well. There were only two outlets in each room, and one in the bathroom. We were unable to use our cell phones on the cruse except in port it was very expensive to use the ship cell tower, and internet usage was VERY expensive pay by the miniute. They seemed out to get money all the time, it sometimes felt like a seven day infomercial. BUT the crew was exceptional, the food was good, and there were really good people working on the ship, if not for them i would have been very dissapointed. The Alaska experience was wonderful the views and the ports all were breathtaking, We had great weather, something that is rare on these cruses. When i left I felt like I had been well rested. So over all it was a good time and I am very glad I went, would I go again? Been there done that, Would I go on a cruse again, Yes, would I go with Holland America? only if the ship was newer.

we loved everything, except the rain in Juneau but what do you expect in Juneau that is why I don't live there.

staff trained to be poilite, always attentive, constantly cleaning the ship, providing all kinds of entertainment, food basically tasty but too abundant, didn't understand how short the time ashore was going to be or that one would start at 7am and end aboutnoon and another would be on a Friday ngiht. Perhaps length of shore stay and timimng of said needs to be clarified

It is intended for old people or persons who like schedules, formal dresses, strict order, quiet places. I expected a more free style ambience. The crew is very friendly. The rooms require more hygiene, or the stwarts better training; I mentioned this because of bad odor (humid) coming out from some room at deck 7. Some times the bathroom remained with urine odor after it was cleaned.

i enjoyed the cruise very much

Ship was clean. Staff was pleasant and ready to serve at all times. Food was great all day!!! Excursions were great and aimed at all age groups. Spa on ship was heavenly and the health activities were good.

The entire ship is beautiful.

We were disappointed in several areas of this cruise. There were several little things that added up. The cabin service was the not near as good as the 3 other cruises we've taken. They only straightened the bed and bathroom, never any of the tables or couch. Never brought an extension cord until we asked again throught the front desk. Never showed us anything about the tv or the free movies that were available(we discovered that on the last day!)Not sue if we would have watched them, but would have like the chance. The salmon was either over cooked or undercooked, dirt in the salads a couple of times, had to ask a second time for butter for the crab, slow service sometimes between courses. The lead male singer in the shows sang songs differently than I've ever heard them before. Another male singer was supposed to be funny with song impersonations, but wasn't. Comedian, Kevin Green was very funny, and they had a good selection of "no sugar added" desserts. Jenny and the HalCats were excellent in the Queens lounge, and maybe should have been the main entertainment. The captain got us very close to the Hubbard Glacier. I purchased an anniversary package before the cruise because it included a 10X7 photo, but then was told I could only use that for one of the activity photos, not the formal photos. So my only choices were a picture of my husband and I at the hubbard glacier(with my hair blowing all over the place) or one with 3 other couples that we had just me at dinner. They didn't even take a picture of my husband and I together, alone. The photo staff was not helpful at all. At one point my husband and I came back to the stateroom and it was filled with diesel smoke. The front desk called back to say it was a barbeque on the lido deck, on 9(we were on 4 with no window that opened!) How stupid do they think we are? The headache from that was pretty intense. We did enjoy being away for the week, but would chose Carnival or Princess Cruise line for our next cruise. Like I said, too many little things added up to make this our least favorite cruise, even though it was our 25th anniversary and we were celebrating.

Everything was much better than expected. The public areas are constantly being cleaned and polished without being obtrusive. The ship is spacious and the helpful crew is always available.

Clean, comfortable, not difficult to navigate.

Too few stops; very brief stays when we did stop. More for cruising than sightseeing.

The first 3 or 4 days were just awesome! Then, as the week wore on, the staff became a bit less attentive and forgetful of requests for complimentary services along the way. It was very nice that they kept the ship very clean and tidy. There were plenty of opportunities for the guest to part with their cash throughout the entire trip. In fact, the cruise director made jokes of it during the disembarkation talk. Overall, I still score the trip excellent.

Overall, the cruise was relaxing. our room was kept clean and comfortable. for the most part, ship staff was helpful and professional. the view and ports were definitely the highlight.

The cruise itself is great for family cruising. We had a suite and the amenities that came with it were good. I think they could have added 1 dinner at the pay for food restaurant.

My overall impression of the ship was very good. This was our first cruise, so I don't have another cruise to compare it with. Our service was exceptional, our stateroom was very clean, and the crew staff were very helpful and nice.

Compare to other HAL ships I took, Westerdam's staffs are not as friendly. I think that's a management problem. The Lido deck often have long lines of people waiting for food. I thought you suppose to serve yourself, but that's not the case most of the time.

Lido Deck sometime can be very crowded. Many times people waited in a long line to get their food.

Westerdam Lido deck definitely has problem. You suppose to self serve, but that's not the case mostly. Customers often wait in long line for their food. Sometime it is difficult to find a place to sit. Sometime they can be out of utencil even though it is not busy. One time, I sit with my wife at a desk, there's no clean utencil on the table, or any tables as far as we can see. The bus boy came to ask if we need anything to drink, but don't bother with the fact that we don't have utencil to use. We ask one of the work for utencil and it took him 5 minutes to produce a set. The manager was busy with changing music and not bother with the fact that customers don't have utencil for the whole section. I think they have a management problem at Lido deck.

Activities while on ship were lame, unless you like various versions of bingo. Cabin steward excellent
