Beautiful destinations, wonderful accommodations, world class service, great food and a super variety in entertainment made for an incredible time! Thank you so much for the detail you put in to your vessels, your staff, your service and your hospitality. There were 18 of us in our group - Mom and Dad celebrating their 50th Anniversary, my two sisters and me and our spouses and 10 grandkids. We wanted this to be a memorable experience for my parents and they simply can not stop talking about what a wonderful time they had. They have cruised Holland America before (Mediterranean and Alaska) and told us we were in for a real treat... but we had no idea. Thank you for everything!
Embarkation

We were greeted warmly with fresh cookies and juice, a photographer and people to help direct us to our state rooms. Left the port exactly on time. Just perfect.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining

Excellent variety, quality and service. Every single person in the Lido Cafe as well as the dining room was smiling, anxious to serve and friendly.
Onboard Activities

Talks on destinations, casino, shopping, fundraiser walk, chess, fitness center. All fantastic.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Magic show, stage shows, BB King Lounge, Piano Bar, Trivia, String Quartet... wonderful. Only wish there had been a jazz quartet performing in one of the corners or bars.
Children's Programs
Although we have children, they were more interested in swimming and hanging out with our families.
Service and Staff

Incredible. I have no doubt Holland America has the best service of any cruise line. I simply can't imagine any other cruise line where I could spend nearly two weeks on a ship and never... not once... encounter so much as a slightly rude employee. Your folks are almost superhuman! Being a Seattle native, I'm probably a bit biased, but at least now I know it's warranted. Wonderful people completely and totally dedicated to the satisfaction of each passenger.
Ship Quality

I really loved the variety of areas you could cruise from while underway. The Crow's Nest, Lido Deck, Promenade Deck were all nice areas to relax and take in the sights and sounds of the sea. Never encountered an overflowing waste basket, a toilet out of paper, an empty soap dispenser or even a dirty window. I noticed that every time we were in port there were folks outside working on the steel, painting the hull, cleaning windows... it never stopped. And the ship looks beautiful because of it.
Cabin / Stateroom

I was pleasantly surprised by the size of our room. It had all the amenities we needed with a good size bathroom and shower, some decent storage, great space under our bed for suitcases, lots of hanging space, an adorable sea creature made of towels to great us on our bed each night and even a nice sitting area which was handy while waiting for my wife to get ready. Very pleased, also, with the comfort of the mattress in the cabin.
Ship tip
Going into it, I was a little nervous about getting all our luggage to our room, finding my way around the ship, the emergency drill, getting through customs at ports, security, etc. What I learned is that every last detail has been thought of and planned for. It was easy. So relax and let the Westerdam crew take care of you. No need to stress!
Great shopping and tourist attractions. The fortresses around the entrance to the harbor were fantastic! And the cannon shot at noon was awesome! No excursions.
Very interesting place to do an excursion - the bus ride around the island. Very nice way to spend the day and see so much of the area. So many churches and old buildings. Kudos to the bus drivers for making it through those narrow streets!
Nice place. People weren't all the friendly. And the accommodations for wheelchairs were pretty horrible. But we saw some beautiful sights and loved the architecture and charm.
Maybe our favorite port up to this point in our trip. Fascinating history. Enjoyed the musicians and the lunch we had there. The trip up to the wall and over to the beach were both a must!
Hard to believe we were walking through a palace built in 295! Such history! Enjoyed the public markets, the local music and the shopping. The Dalmatian Singers in the dome in the palace were wonderful! Also got to the local Harley Davidson for a shirt from Split Croatia!
Our favorite port. Definitely all the charm we expected to see. The food, gondola ride, water taxis, St. Marks, Rialto Bridge, beautiful shops... and even the pigeons. Oh, the pigeons! But what a charming city. Loved getting up early to watch us come in to port. The dozens of spires and domes on churches, many clock and bell towers, bridges... so picturesque... Loved this place!
As smooth and classy as our arrival. Loved how the crew came out to the dock to thank us and wave goodbye. Super classy. This will NOT be our last cruise with Holland America!
We were in Split last week and saw the singers in the dome, too! They were so good - I got a video of them. :) Just curious, why didn't you visit that last batch of ports on the itinerary? Were they not actually scheduled? Or did you disembark early?
