Review summary

Dear Friends, This is a textbook story of how to take a loyal customer and piss them off for life. In the summer of 2016 my husband and I book a cruise on Regent to the Western Caribbean. This trip would have been our fourth vacation with them. About a month later I was diagnosed with colon cancer and had surgery. We contacted Regent about the situation and asked them to allow us to reschedule our trip and apply our funds to another trip. It is important to note that we did not ask for a refund. They Refused. Instead, they kept about $10,000 and refunded the balance. This was wrong on so many levels. First, they showed no compassion for my medical situation, which we had no control over. Second, they made a very bad business decision, because we will never take another trip with them again. Had they accommodated our needs they would have made us loyal customers for life. Now they have our $10,000, but have lost who knows how much in future business

Just read this review, and noticed the author did not mention *when* they called Regent, and *how* the refund transaction took place. What appears to have happened is Regent was not able to transfer their booking. So, the author cancelled the booking, and Regent kept the 10k$ (as a percentage of the cruise fare) as the cancellation fee. If they called too close to the sail date, and had no insurance, then Regent is contractually obligated to keep a percentage of the cruise fare as detailed in the Ticket Contract. It always bothers me when people do not tell the whole story and admit important details.

That’s why you have insurance, sorry for your ailments but this isn’t a constructive review on the ship.

don't mean to sound rude but did you purchase insurance? if you had insurance and they refused thats a whole different story but if you didnt purchase the insurance than I dont blame the cruise line. they are a business. if they did this for you they would have to do it for so many others. that's why there is insurance hope for a speedy recoverg

SHAME ON YOU Regent way to treat a loyal customer how hard would it be to change a sail date? REALLY?

Oh wow- I am one that never purchases trip insurance, but I usually don't spend more than $5,000 on a cruise. I'm sorry that you've had this diagnosis and prayers for a full a speedy recovery for you. That was a tacky thing for them to do, no doubt. Insurance or not.
