Loved the trip, due to only one day at sea. Fantastic ports and experiences.

Ship tip
We used the Open dining option and enjoyed the flexibility. Found the excursions offered through the ship were expensive, with a large number of participants
Saint Mark’s/Doge Palace tour (expedia) was fabulous
Murano/Burano tour - nice to see both islands, but would not return to Murano again (glass factory was not a high point). Burano was very charming.
2-hour walking tour, plus paid extra to walk the top of the wall (not sure the $25/ea cost for the wall was worth the view). Only visited the “old town” and it was wonderful.
So grateful that we booked a fantastic tour to Butruint (UNESCO site) and Luekersi castle (tour also went to a natural spring - Blue something - and did not enjoy that portion of the excursion). Passengers who remained in the port area only, or went to Ksmil beach, were greatly disappointed in this port
We scheduled a tour recommended by Rick Steves to Olympia (with Niki’s group), which was spectacular. Signed up for the added lunch buffet (and incredibly glad we did, because it was a highlight - got to try lots of local food/drink)
We had to skip Mykonos due to rough seas. Instead the ship went to Catania, Sicily. We got a group of 10 together and hired a van to drive us to Castlemola and Taormina. Both locations were fantastic! Just wish we had more hours to explore both areas.
We did the Hop-on bus and took the yellow line (not on the main route map) directly to Mdina, where we spent most of the day seeing the sites, shopping and having lunch. Then headed into Valletta and walked from the cathedral into the old town and to Upper Barakka gardens/Fort area, where we took the lift down to the port to clean up. Came back into the area for dinner.
Had purchased a 7-hour Amalfi tour (through CruiseWeb), but there was a rockslide south of Sorrento that blocked the road. Instead, spent time in Sorrento, toured the limoncello factory, then visited Hearculean (a mini “Pompeii” site) which was spectacular. Driver showed us briefly around downtown Naples before returning us to port
Did 4.5 hour tour to Vatican (through Dark Rome), which included the “staircase”. Rosy was our guide and was amazing. Saw Borghese gallery (reservation required) in the afternoon. A fantastic place, but shouldn’t do it the same day as the Vatican (overwhelmed by too much art in one day). Hotel was (Sina Belini), where we could walk to Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Spanish Steps and Borghese - all amazing sights. Did a 6 hour trip (on our own) to Colosseum, Forum and Palatine Hill. Happy to be able to wander around at our own pace (used Rick Steves audio tour). Bought the 72-hour Roma pass, which was well worth it.
