Great cruise by FranciscoF1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Great cruise, great shows, food, installations, shops, crew, etc etc. but the elevators are the worst. Royal Caribbean must invest in other ones. I spend a lot of time waiting for elevators, and I know a lot of people think the same as me. Other issue is the Internet connection. Wifi must be a complimentary for guests. Today everybody must be connected and online with the world. Hotels and resorts, have it and the world is moving providinge this service for free (included in the price). Cruises must move in this direction. Provide Internet to all guests, and see how the people will speak and review over Facebook, twitter, and all other social media platforms. Imagine how the company will rise when everybody outside the ship can know how great is this cruise experience... Just my opinion, but i'm trying to help.

Not what I expected by Beth1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I have never seen so many rude people and obnoxious children in one place. Nobody seemed to want to wait in line - everybody was hogging chairs, tables, etc. Children were not well-behaved nor well-supervised, but the parents weren't much better - yelling, smoking, running around - ridiculous. More than 1300 Spanish speakers on board, so activities seemed to be geared toward them. Galveston departure was a complete disaster and I would never travel to/from there again.

An okay cruise by CathyK25009271

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The room attendant was very attentive and kept the room spotless. The ship overall is beginning to look a little dated. The food was fine, nothing extraordinary. There were way too many unsupervised young kids running around at all hours. I went to use the computer at the internet cafe the night before departure and was amazed at what I saw. Most of the chairs were thrown together, soda drinks were spilled all over, some of the computer screens were actually thrown sideways and kids were laying on the couch eating oranges, throwing their peels on the floor. I had to lay a piece of paper across the computer table so that my documents did not get wet . I have found that this cruise has way too many kids not watched by anyone. The embarkation process was very slow and long. I would not recommend this cruise. I would not book another cruise from the Galveston, Texas port.

Smooth Sailing by NickR1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Ship was in overall good shape bit of rust on the under parts of it. It was really smooth sailing. Not sure if the economy has anything to do with it but the average age on this cruise was about 50. Not 30-40 like they have had in the past.

A great trip by JoshK1

We had a great time. Plenty to don on board for the kids. They did want to know why there was no slide at the pool. Shows were wonderful.

Great Cruise! by TanyaB1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We traveled with our teenagers, ages 16 & 14. If you are going to take teens, I would recommend traveling wtih another family with kids similar ages. We hoped our kids would meet others, 1 did and 1 didn't. The food was good, the dining room took too long for a family, especially one with 2 impatient kids so most nights we went to the buffet, which was very good. The process to get on the ship was chaotic, at best. I felt like I spent most of my vacation standing in line and waiting for something. However, the ports were great, great activities and overall had a great time.

Horrible shore excursions by KatieA2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

The ship in itself was average and the staff was excellent. I really enjoyed the adult activities (the Quest and the comedy) but I wish that they had been held a bit earlier....10-12 is a bit late for me....but that's just because I'm an early riser. The Tulum and Beach Break excursion in Cozumel was not worth the 109 pp. We were at the ruins for 35 minutes and didn't even get to see the beach from the ruins. After an hour and a half travel to get there - we expected more! We were then whisked off to the buffet which served fish and gross beans and then spend time on the beach. I would have wished for a bit more time at the ruins and less time on the beach. We ended up getting a portion of our excursion refunded because we paid for the Ruins, not to spend more than 1/2 the excursion on the bus.

Great Family Spring Break Cruise by KevinR5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Mariner of the Seas was great in all aspects. This was my second time on a Voyager class ship, and I knew what to expect. However, it was the first time for my kids: 6-year-old boy and 8-year-old girl. We decided on the Mariner out of Galveston for a spring break cruise. The kids really enjoyed the Adventure Ocean activities, and surprisingly, they also loved the Main Dining Room. The crew on a whole was very friendly and accommodating.

A Spring Break Cruise by YuliaL

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I have sailed with many Royal Caribbean cruiseships in the past but the Mariner staffs were not hardly in par in delivering their customer service with the Jewell of the Sea, for example. Front desk: a lady worked here was rude and hardly friendly at all, when I asked questions. I do understand that she may encountered some problem(s) with other passengers, but she should not treat me that way as I had nothing to do with it. Then the assistant waiter: my dining time was: 5:30. This guy is so slow and did not seem to enjoy what he was doing. The first night we dined, he disappeared for at least 15 minutes left us with no water or tea to drink; let alone offering breads. The next day he apologized but still very slow. The room service: I ordered 3 breakfasts for 3 of us. She delivered it 45 minutes late and only for 2. I can't drink my coffee without creamer and she delivered my coffee without it. The next day, she delivered my order on time but still only 2 breakfasts instead of 3 I asked for. It was so incovenience because I had to go upstair in hurry to catch our excursions. Gettting off the ship: this was a nightmare. The timing is not well organized so passengers stucked in the gangway in the heat. The air condioner was not sufficient to handle the crowds. It took me about 2 hours to get out terminal. What a nightmare. I sail at least twice a year. I like the Mariner of the Sea's ship but, I will not be on it again.

Beautiful, clean. It would be superb if smoking was not allowed in the casino.

A great time was had by all by AngelaF3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

Ship is due for refurbishment which takes place this year. This could be seen in areas around the ship. Cabin was on 3rd deck but close to late night shows and local bar, where service was excellent.

The cruise was good, but not great. by BettyB3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

In the Windjammer the food was cold when it should have been hot, the deserts were not sweet, ever the few that were not sugar free. The excursion we took in Jamica to see ther 1700 Plantation appeared to be a comeon to get us there and sell us a ride here and there (for more money of course.)
